We might begin looking like a team on Saturday

852

I’m sure Ronny Deila has used the international break to take in as many scouting games as possible, but he’ll be keen to see his players return to Lennoxtown, fit and available for selection.

Adam Matthews spoke to Celtic media on possibly returning for Saturday’s game against Ross County.  Having not played since August he’ll be well short of match fitness but his presence is badly needed.  We have a must-win Europa League game against Astra next week, with the shape of the team looking so haphazard at the moment it’s crucial we get a benefit of a recognised right back.  Adam needs an hour on Saturday.

Now that central mid is looking solid with Brown and Johansen, the addition of Matthews and McGregor will benefit the right, while allowing Mubarak to fit into his more natural position on the left.  We might begin looking like a team.  Adam also has the engine to play the football Ronny is keen on.

The only question remains how to get our Europa League-eligible strikers looking the part – and that’s not a suggestion to drop John Guidetti on Saturday!

  1. Great to see so many Celtic men wanting Scotland to do well…i gotta admit growing up in Glasgow in the 60s 70s..i had no intrest in Scotland…being honest , i and all of my friends where anything but pro Scotland….but times change…and i am thankful for it….i support my country and my club

…im a Celtic and Scotland fan…and i feel better for it.

Strange statement indeed. Maybe the Daily Record will apply such a qualification to future pictures and comments about Celtic fans. We can live in hope (and pray)

    Anybody got two tickets for the North Britain v Ireland game ? Obviously prefer the Irish end but if pushed will sit with the 90min patriots ! . . . . . . . . . . . who fought and died for. . . . . . . .

  4. Dr Ramesh… Strangely wee rat boy has had awesome touch this season for Scotland… But your right… I am shortly going to be watching Scotland with a wee bit of confidence. Hutton is a good player, I have always liked his play and hope he gets back to his best. SW is a donkey. Maloney come home now!

Delaneys; u less you are my bro I doubt… But my da did have some Dodgey nights at the polish club. Where are you from?

Work bus (95% Polish) quite happy. The Poles tend to dismiss their chances. Steau supporting mate happy with his team tonight.

Thanks for that Hratvski Jim, dark days for Europe they certainly were. Didn’t realise the proximity of Serbia and Alabania, need to brush up on my geography/history.

The difference a good first touch makes was illustrated in Scotland’s equaliser, when Anya took a difficult ball brilliantly to set up Sean, and similarly in Poland’s equaliser. It buys that precious time that prevents defenders getting properly set, thus giving he attacker the advantage. Also allows for the occasional plate of chips and Irn bru.

    Fullbacks?

To be fair to Hutton, although he made a horrible mistake today, I’ve been impressed whenever he plays for Scotland. He covers a hell of a lot of ground and is always looking to attack. He seems to beat players with ease these days without falling down (Hun style) and can mix crosses with more thoughtful through balls. Whittaker is pretty pants still although possibly more defensively aware than Robertson.

  9. Great performances including Michael O Neills Sams.Polski have some excellent players including Ena Sharples at the back with the hairnet.

  10. Guidetti,Griffiths and Scepovic score on the same night, what’s the chances of that happening again this season?

    !!Bada Bing!!

He was a diving Hun but it looks like new clean airs and healthy thoughts have improved his game no end. The big sod is highly effective.

Scotland are playing a brand of football that relies on a good team spirit, with players working their ass off for each other. Instill the same spirit at Celtic and Ronny will get similar performances and results.

Ironic/galling to hear the commentators point out how the polish 2 man midfield was being outnumbered.

Win the midfield, win the game.

Or draw the game if you have a moron at full back!

GGS are going to score a shitload this season once we click. I’m still very excited about Scepovic, once we pass him the f**king ball he’ll score for fun.

What a night that was…….was absolutely certain Germany were going to defend their lead ….. I (honestly) picked up the tv commander to turn the telly off in the last few seconds of the game, with heavy heart……. then hesitated when Aiden ‘collected’ the ball…….next thing you know, the balls in the net ……. absolutely wonderful…!!!!!!! Mon the Republic…..!!!!!!!!

Mutton heid cost us the three points there, with schoolboy errors at both goals.

Whether any of these players would want to come up here and be abused week in week out without crisps and ginger to fall back on in hard times is open to debate!

International football is not a patch on Celtic but this World Cup qualifying group is making for fantastic entertainment. Germany are getting the fright of their lives right now.

Another interesting development elsewhere is Michael O`Neill guiding Northern Ireland to 3 wins out of 3 in their group. If he keeps that kind of form up I think he would find himself on Peter Lawwell`s shortlist next time we`re in the market for a manager. Currently ticking the “able to get good results out of limited resources” box.

I`m not saying that I think he should be anywhere near the Celtic job, just that I could see him appealing to the board as an inexpensive option.

Well, if lone striker Guidetti scores and is replaced by lone striker Scepovic who scores and is replaced by lone striker Griffiths…………….

  21. dr ramesh and the love potion-the service Guidetti and Scepovic have had has been abysmal. The team need to learn how to play a forward pass, instead of square all the time.

Are you Alan Hutton? Or his mum?

    ;-)

In my considered and usually moderate view he’s a gash defender who cost us about one and half goals tonight in a 2-2 draw.
