We might begin looking like a team on Saturday

852

I’m sure Ronny Deila has used the international break to take in as many scouting games as possible, but he’ll be keen to see his players return to Lennoxtown, fit and available for selection.

Adam Matthews spoke to Celtic media on possibly returning for Saturday’s game against Ross County.  Having not played since August he’ll be well short of match fitness but his presence is badly needed.  We have a must-win Europa League game against Astra next week, with the shape of the team looking so haphazard at the moment it’s crucial we get a benefit of a recognised right back.  Adam needs an hour on Saturday.

Now that central mid is looking solid with Brown and Johansen, the addition of Matthews and McGregor will benefit the right, while allowing Mubarak to fit into his more natural position on the left.  We might begin looking like a team.  Adam also has the engine to play the football Ronny is keen on.

The only question remains how to get our Europa League-eligible strikers looking the part – and that’s not a suggestion to drop John Guidetti on Saturday!

    I know i have…

  2. Today was a sad day for me.

I had to clear my mother’s house as she will never be able to return to it due to sever onset of dementia.

On 1 January this year some sage decided that it would be a good day to have a football programme. Normally it has been a family day when my mum made her speciality, a beef hough soup as part of the family dinner. Due to the football it was agreed that family dinner would be put back until I got back from the Celtic v Partick Thistle game.

I had difficulty getting her into the car at lunchtime to bring her to our house but i left her with my family and went to the game As the game finished my wife called to say that she was unable to walk

Long story but we ended up 5 hours in the Royal Infirmary on New years night. Never was I so glad that there had not been an “Old Firm” game that day or 5 hours could have been 15 hours.

After a month in there and further 6 weeks in Ruchhill she was admitted to a permanent nursing home.

Anyway, when we were clearing the house today, we found a drawer lined with Sunday Post from the day after Scotland beat England 2 0 at Hampden in 1974. Headline was how Jinky had destroyed the English.

Brought back even more memories as I was there.

    MON THE MIGHTY CELTS.

Canny wait for our Paradise/Dublin double header now.

  4. Let us not forget that little Slovakia are top of their group with 9 points and have won in Ukraine and Belarus and of course beat mighty Spain 2-1 in Bratislava.

I see phil is teasing the unwashed again this evening with tales of the ownership of the intellectual???? sevco property. Seems like Charles kept a hold on some bits and pieces when he appeared to exit.

I’m far too handsome to be Alan Hutton’s mum!

For the first goal he had a mare, the second goal was pure class from the Poles. He has been very effective for Scotland. Teams don’t like to play against him. In saying that, I’d have a fully fit Lustig any day.

Ye canny legislate for a diddy an overrated Hun diddy at that.-)) Hutton just showed tonight what we have known all along. One of the most corrupt transfers ever in british football,

    Hrvatski Jim,

keep the faith. Mum’s are great whatever happens to them as humans. They will always love us even if they can’t express it.

Delaney’ s, you’ll be a happy man, none of you three international teams lost tonight lol.

Michael O’Neill mentioned years ago he was inundated with requests for tickets for the 1988 cup final from family & friends but not for the United end but the Celtic end. He always impressed me when he played against us for both Leith & Dundee Hibernian.

Anyone who can make Kyle Lafferty play like a football player must have some special talent.

Shaun Maloney should have been one of our greats but his attitude about not playing unless he was 100% fit, while admirable, didn’t help him. Gordon said Shaun was the most intense person he had ever met.

His pass to Kenny Miller at our second goal v Benfica in 2006 showed great technique and was right into Miller’s path.

Two of our greats in the last sixteen years, Henke & Lubo, were very impressed with Shaun’s potential. Unfortunately his potential was only fufilled consistently for us in the 2005 – 2006 season. Him & Naka were teriffic that season.

  11. Mrs jamesgang in Dublin for a few days with her mum and daughter. Complained about the price of drinks in the hotel….how much did I think it cost for 2 drinks???

    Forty quid I said. Obviously!

Don’t know if Sevco own any property but it seems like, Chuck, Imran and Stockbridge all own something that any team playing in blue in Govan would need if they wanted to maintain the charade of having an unbroken history.

  13. Martybhoy…take you up on it aswell….why you callin Hutton a Hun…call him out for being a dud from Villa….

Hrvatski, I totally sympathise with regarding your mum suffering dementia.

My mum’s dementia started about seven years ago and has been in a care home for the past five and a half years.

Its not a pretty sight seeing a loved one regress so quickly. I hope your mum settles well in the home.

Wee Jimmy’s salute to the media after that two nil game was more than merited for the grief they gave him over the rowing boat incident. I know Jinky’s behaviour wasn’t very professional with the boat shenanigans but I’m sure if the wee man did not play for us, the incident would have been described as boisterous & letting off steam.

I’m getting paranoid about my paranoia.

  22. Proudbhoy

Don’t worry, they’re well used to that when playing at away grounds in Scotland.

  23. Som mes que un club on

For those who have maybe missed it earlier…

    C/o Phil.

The term ‘badge kisser’ entered the footie lexicon quite some time ago.

It was coined because it summed up a common enough cautionary tale:

A mercenary footballer, usually after scoring a goal, reciprocates the adulation of the crowd by kissing the club badge on his shirt.

It is of course nonsense as often the very next day his agent could be on the phone stating that his wonder goal had been seen by the manager of (insert name of bigger club) and he was going to open negotiations for a dream move.

The fans who cheered his goal then feel betrayed, as he is paraded holding the shirt of the new (bigger) club with his name on it, but it isn’t personal, it’s strictly business.

If such a scenario unfolded at Sevco then the chap would be kissing the property of some interesting characters.

So for the avoidance of doubt the Rangers club crests do not wholly belong to the new club.

I understand from well-placed sources that the iconic image of the interwoven letters “RFC” and the five stars is now owned by an offshore entity and has been for some time.

    RFC New Crest

I have been told that the three beneficiaries of this ‘Onerous Contract’ are Mr Imran Ahmad, Mr Charles Green and Mr Rafat Rizvi.

Now the situation with the old club crest is slightly more complicated.

    RFC Old Crest

Rangers International Football Club (RIFC) DOES own a portion of that.

However they have to share it with Charles of Normandy, Brian Stockbridge and another major shareholder in RIFC.

Of course Charles Green bought the intellectual property of the old club the same day he bought their dubious history.

It is good to know that the former is still safely in his big offshore hands.

  25. Dr ramesh.

You are 100% correct. Expressions say much more than words.

Thanks to you and others for your kind comments. Like everything else you adjust and deal with it and get on with it.

I was really pleased with the Scotland performance and result tonight. Best of all, it is the standard we reach consistently.

Reggie Blinker on Sky Sports just now.

  26. I have no real problem with the fact that Hutton played for a now-deceased club.

Naysmith for eg I have a lot of respect for as a player who maximises his potential and buys tickets for Everton fans who can’t afford them. Good for him. Twice over. With absolute sincerity.

Hutton? I Just think he’s a hash defender!
