We spoil the league

Illustrating the very high regard the business community and people of Barcelona hold Celtic fans, one of the city’s top restaurants, Cinc Sentis have donated lunch for two towards our annual charity causes.

I am assured by our resident food critic (WDH), Cinc Sentis is a fabulous dining experience.  The auction has just gone live – so get a low bid in early – and ends Sunday.  If you’re heading to Barcelona next week, or anytime thereafter, get your eBay bid in here.

Many thanks to Cinc Sentis and WDH.

Read lots yesterday about the vast majority of people in Scotland missing the ‘Old Firm’ games.  Trying hard to inoculate myself against any “bravado” I really don’t see this.  The edge we used to feel when going into the final minutes of a game needing a goal is no longer there, but I’m really not sure that edge is healthy or necessary.

More than this, I don’t know a single fan from another Premiership club who regrets the liquidation of Rangers, or feels their life is enhanced by the presence of Celtic.  Everyone is aware of the harsh reality – we spoil the league.

We do, of course, sell copy, as did the liquidated lot.

I went to see a legend just the other night At the Yankee Stadium, underneath the light. I heard a man speaking after years and years in jail. His name it was Mandela and he came to tell his tale.

The crowd they cheered him loudly, ah, but then the silence fell As he spoke about the hard years in a South African cell. And though he was free, his heart was feelin’ the pain, For his country and his people were still a part of that shame.

He said he hoped that we would join him and walk down freedom’s path, And these roads would be the hardest, oh, but they would be the last. And to join our hands together so that we might be as one, And to bring ourselves to the cause so his battle could be won.

I went home to bed that evening, went to sleep and I had a dream. I was standing in the pouring rain, in an Irish field of green. And all around the headstones were the martyrs of the past. I stood there in silence, and they spoke to me at last.

“Kevin Barry is my name, and I died in a cell. They wanted the names of my comrades, oh, but this I would not tell.” “And I am Roger Casement. I was shot in London town For bringing German rifles to the lonely Banna Strand.”

“James Connolly is my name. The working people are my life. When they shot me down in Kilmainham Jail with strife.” “And I am Padraic Pearse. I was shot down by the foe. I read the proclamation at the steps of the GPO.”

And the last voice that I heard says, “My name is Bobby Sands, And it’s good to hear Mandela’s words a-ringin’ through the land. “I want to hear them in Belfast, in Derry and Tyrone. Maybe then those English soldiers will know it’s time to go home.”

I woke up in the morning. I remembered them all. And who would believe that they’d knocked down the Berlin Wall? And I said “Madela, could this really be?Maybe now we will see Ireland reunited and free. Maybe now we will see Ireland reunited and free.”

Isnt life much quieter without Charlotte? I wonder where Charlotte has gone. I miss Charlotte.

I hope she returns with more revelations.

I wonder how many folks in the world know who Charlotte really is and I hope that one day the world has enough morales that the true identity can be revealed.

    Is charlotte a whistleblowing tim

Is charlotte a disgruntled hun out to settle scores

Is charlotte a new sevconian with a clean broom to sweep clean

Is Charlotte the googly eyed one who taped a lot of calls

As I pondered this question about Charlottes identity, I started to wonder why she was called Charlotte and not for example “Paddy Ma Bhoy” or “huns for justice” or simply “tell tale tit, yer mammy canny knit”

Why chose the name Charlotte? What is the significance behind the name Charlotte?

Is there a street for example called Charlotte Street somewhere?

Is there a secret bank account somewhere in the name of Charlotte?

If there was, why would the Lady be highlighting this? Is this the real target of the Charlottes revelations?

Is it simply because she has revealed details about a gruesome pack of Charlotte annes (okay that was a wee tiny bit of poetic licence)

And of course there was the reference to the fakeover. Charlotte fakeover. This obviously was in reference to Craig Whyte. His reign at ayebokes was often referred to as the fakeover, long, long, long time before the MSM even began to understand that their favourites were going under. (Not too dissimilar to what is happening again, with Ally talking about singings in the January window and the timternet talking about administration in February 14th again)

Anyway Charlotte, who ever ye are, where ever ye are, life is getting boring again can you not drop a few wee hints, now and again. Its great discussing the issues that the MSM are trying to hide. I cant think of a better way to undermine them.

Charlotte Square you say eh? in edinburgh? I wonder if there is any connection between between Charlotte Square and Rangers. oh look, Murray International holdings have an office there! maybe thats just a coincidence. Maybe Charlotte is not firing a shot across Murrays bough.

The David Murray fellow does seem quite quiet on the whole issue though doesnt he? i seem to recal that he had a big mouth, something about fivers and tenners and a few other outbursts, but strangely he seems to be more subdued nowadays. I dont know why though, its not as if he has something to hide!

Ach well we all know David Murray had nothing to do with Rangers going under, After all Chick young told us so, and he should know! Chick has had lunch with David Murray on many occassions and he is an investigative Journalist of the highest integrity.

Now what was that thing about a bank account in Charlottes name, what was that about?

    Great song about great men

  13. Every time I hear Fir Park a shiver is sent down my spine as I recall that final day.

Undoubtedly , my most gut wrenching moment in nearly 40 years of following the Hoops.

    Really horrible

  14. Thanks jobo.

As I said I’ve just finished nightshift and I’m back in for 2-10 shift,

All weekend, some times we don’t know if we’re coming or going.

  15. seen mandella in person way back in 2002…., of all places it was heathrow…he was on his way to Glasgow, as I was or was coming from, can’t seam to remember… age eh !! I was the only person in the departure lounge that seen him, everyone else was watching a TV, world cup was on… I think it was an Engerland game

The aura about him was obvious, I nudged my girlfriend at the time….now my wife, proclaiming who he was… jumped up but he was quickly being whisked away by Scotand’s finest..

Rest in peace to a man, not so long ago was being described as a terrorist??? you could say the most important man of the last 100 years… he had big shoulders… carried it well

    HH

  16. Don’t you know remembering a terrorist who became a politician shames Celtic.

I hope UEFA are at the ready to hammer any club who does any tribute to Mandela this weekend. We can’t have politics at the football.

    Steviebhoy

indeed a man who was involved in violence and jailed for terrorism offences

one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter…..i think some folks tried to make that same point very recently

Also another very fine example of a man who started out as a man of violence and changed his views as he got older. Quite a few folks have taken the same road over the years. His ability to forgive, forget and to heal was his defining quality for me.

I had reason today to write the phrase “humidity control” anyway, as usual my fingers were moving much faster than my brain and I made a typo, hence the phrase ” hunidity control”.

I reckon that if the word “selfie” can become the word of the year in 2013, then there is hope for this new phrase of mine. Can anyone define a meaning for it though?

  19. Hunidity.

An imperial measurement capturing levels of sweat produced by an anxious followers of anything quintisensually connected to anything called rangers.

Measured in units of Kevin’s. Declans. Brendans.

See him he is four Kevin’s of hunidity

  21. I would have wanted Lenny to go with ‘same again’ this evening, so it’s disappointing to hear that a virus threatens Biton’s inclusion.

A pity, also, that Samaras may be out, as he is unquestionably our best performer at Fir Park.

Not many of our players put in their best work at this ground, so I expect a tough match tonight.

  22. If Biton doesn’t make it tonight I hope Rogic takes his place. Playing as the attacking point of the midfield diamond would suit him and allow us to see what he can do when played in an attacking position which he seems to do well for his country.

  23. drove by motherwell at 6am

it was above freezing and dry

the game is a certainty to be postponed, fir park cant handle such clement conditions

What would happen next midweek if there’s a Mandela banner in the Nou Camp?

    Would UEFA fine us?

If there is one, do you think we should make a point of ‘grassing’ ourselves in to UEFA just to show how ludicrous and hypocritical their stance is?

  27. Dontbrattbakkinanger,

we played a friday night game during the hampden year, possibly against killie?
