Wee Oscar 4 Life

1150

If you have been in Celtic Quick News or several other places online in recent months you will be aware of Oscar Knox’ battle against Neuroblastoma.  The CQN community has never been slow to react for those in need.  On this occasion Bundoran Bhoy and Celticrollercoaster have taken the initiative and have launched the Wee Oscar 4 Life campaign.  This is what they plan:

Today we are launching the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ campaign focusing once again on the generosity of the Celtic family and the Celtic Internet community. In the past your generosity has helped better the life of Kano & Vanessa to name but two. Now Wee Oscar needs you 4 life.

Over the next few months, with the full support and endorsement of Wee Oscar’s family, we will be holding a number of events where we will all be able to come together to raise money that will go to helping provide Wee Oscar the immunotherapy treatment he desperately needs to help his young body fight of further attacks of Neuroblastoma (an aggressive form of childhood cancer).

So please look out for confirmation of dates that will be posted over the next couple of weeks, book your tickets for the events, bring your wallets and were possible help us promote the following events:

Wee Oscar 4 Life Celtic Quiz Night (based roughly on the Friday night CQN footie quiz)
Wee Oscar 4 Life Bucket Collection
Wee Oscar 4 Life Race & Auction night

We are also planning a cycle from Glasgow to Belfast for St Patrick’s weekend in March 2013 and will be looking for cyclists to take part in this event to raise funds for the Wee Oscar 4 Life appeal. If you are not from Glasgow there is no reason to stop you organising/participating in a cycle (or maybe even a run or walk) from your local town to Belfast on the same weekend.

Around £80,000.00 pounds has already been donated to the Wee Oscar Appeal and we hope that the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ events detailed above will take Wee Oscar closer to the target of £250,000.00 the family require to raise.

As ever our thoughts and prayers are with Wee Oscar Knox, his Dad Stephen (CQN’s very own Knoxy2000), his Mum Leona and Wee Oscar’s sister and best friend Izzie.

We welcome your continued support and look forward to seeing you over the coming months.

Naw its the belgians. We have variety but the Belgians are the beer masters for me. Its a delightful state of drunkardness that it always inspires. Difficult not to wolf it down as it tastes so fine but its pokey. Very pokey

yes, that is correct. all I am saying is that we don’t know how many bids have been made, just that we now have one that has been accepted, that’s what matters…bid accepted for a bit part player..move him on and hopefully spend some of the money wisely

  3. CRC – Wee Oscar’s jar is doing well. around 270 so far and I’ve pledged to double it from the pharmacy plus the 160 Italy did me out of by not turning up in Euro final! so we’ll be looking at around 800 euro, ill have to finish a week early as going on hols, can I send a Euro cheque?

Hanen alt is a lovely bier and very popular

This is what I hate about uk marketing. Crap bier cant be marketed to profitable markets here. Local production is strongly Locally supported.

  5. Aww_Naw glad you’re back in the land of normalcy, Belgian beer is by far the best, don’t find them sold out and about much in pubs here apart from (wife beater)stella, but I love Duvel and Chimay, unfortunately my wife doesn’t like the result esp if the the wee man has a tonto night and I’m comatose!!

The issue of jersey sponsorship has been discussed several times on here over the years. For most of the time, when jersey sponsorship became an option, there had to be a joint approach with Rangers because any company that sponsored one but not the other would get boycotted, like we did with McEwan’s Lager.

Very few companies are willing to risk alienating half of Glasgow to get a wee bit extra profit from the other half. If, say, Stella Artois sponsored Celtic they might see 10% of Celtic fans regularly drink their product rather than a current 5% (both my figures are completely made up) but they are likely to find that the 5% of The Rangers fans that used to drink Stella would sink to 0.1% through a boycott(The 0.1% is because Legate still needs his strong lagers). The company would not gain much for their investment, and once their sponsorship ended, Celtic fans would revert to previous drinking practices but The Rangers fans might be inclined to maintain their boycott.

As for Guinness, I have seen it stated several times on here that they are fed up with us approaching them and them telling us “No Way!”. Not all of the sponsorship failures are PL’s. This dynamic has worked with several boards and CEOs.

The dynamic might be different if we do not have to play in the same league as The Rangers but who knows?

  7. Philvis – I think beer is a good subject for Awe Naw, living in Germany he could give us a good lesson, although like me he prefers Belgian, hay ho

Sorry bhoys about today just Completely raging about the lack of support given shown and expectations for Neil Lennon by the entire club and CQN. At this historic time after what we he has been through I am very saddened.

I cant work out who’s skirts they are hiding behind.

I think defensively we are far from strong enough to go with what we have. I pine for Roddy Mc Donald.

  18. So its lies, damn lies and statistics to work out where the money is going, i think NFL is a PL patsy from what I can see and hear, we keep getting fed the soundbites and NFL is happy to dish them out, how we could use PL’s wages to afford a better tactical manager. I mentioned before are we getting value for money from PL compared to likes of Ajax!!!

From my back of an envelope calculation £6m ki, wages saved from players who have left someone earlier said 4m, wages saved on polish guy who got injured and didn’t sign . guessing at 10k/week so wages saved at 4.5-5m/year, appearance money for playing Real Madrid, Ajax etc again a guess of 750k so thats a tidy £11.75m before CL qualification.

Yet we need a central defender an area we have spent very little on over the past few years and a forward , still we await. Best opportunity to qualify for 4 years whether we blow it remains to be seen!!!

Why do we have to take up sponsorship with a company that insists we enter it with the hun in the first place. Its not as if its a megabucks deal which we cant knock back. Surely CFC can attract a brand which would not be affected by any hun boycott.

Would Forster, Ambrose, henriksen and wickham be a decent transfer window?

    I would say yes.

  21. philvisreturns on

Marrakesh Express – I’d be quite happy to see us go back to being sponsored by People’s or CR Smith if it meant no joint sponsorship with Sevco.

We don’t need joint sponsors with Partick Thistle, Queens Park, or Clyde either. (thumbsup)

I, for one will be sad to see Ki leaving…..remembering his best game in the hoops at Ipox in the 2-2 Scottish Cup tie as we were down to 10 men and still had more posession in the 2nd half. Ki and Broonie were superb! Good luck Dave.

Moving on mate. You know me I fight dirty ….legitimately within the rules of engagement … You know any kind of character defamation …sexual or drug orientation is fair game as far as I am concerned. Paul67s ban on sexual content does not alter the fact that one is as bad as the other. Certainly not in my book.

Serious Q. Does thems players embargo start when the transfer window closes?

  26. so we are selling ki for 5 or 6 million pounds .the cash will help to bring the debt down.well i suppose thats what happens when a board of directors at celtic lack ideas in trying to bring in money into the club.pie and bovril thats all they can sell,no clearout needed at celtic ,these directors are not the answer to celtic moving on .one example the celtic triangle 3 or 4 yrs ago .what has happened to it ,same as the front of the main stand to have a facelift, same there nothing, all that board is good at is telling storyno not storys but lies
