We’ve seen more of these games than Brendan

693

Thus far results haven’t mattered, but if his players walk into the dressing room at halftime tomorrow without being in the lead, you can believe there will be an edge in the team- talk. You and I have probably seen more of these kind of games than Brendan. They are seldom straightforward and while the manager plays with pretty much the hand he inherited, I don’t expect a remarkable change in outcomes.

Assuming results go to plan, we’ll have six Champions League qualifiers in the next seven weeks. That’s a lot of football, hopefully most of it will be played with the benefit of one or two more arrivals.

    Why an earlier kick off tomorrow?

    My flight arrives in Barcelona at 7.30 pm Celtic Park time tomorrow.

    Would have had a chance of seeing a bit of the match if it was 7.45 ko. Grrrr

    There is a Celtic bar, just behind Kings Cross, you’ll get it in Celticbars.com. I prefer Bradley’s, just off Oxford St, 5 mins from Tottenham Court RD. Great wee pub, with a few Celts sure to be there. Only issue I had was the fact we watched the Legia Warsaw shambles in there, be warned…

    Add Yarrows and Barr and Strouds in the west end. Little chance of a Saint Tam’s bhoy getting a job wi them.

    If you can’t find any place closer go to the Sports Café at the bottom of Haymarket just near Trafalgar Square. It will be on there.

    Northern line from Euston to Charing Cross will take you to the other side of Trafalgar Square. It is just a 5 minute walk.

    B&S pitch was the first grass pitch I played on. Was like the Maestro that day as I won a medal for Corpus Christi Bhoys Guild Knightswood. Happy days in 1977. :)

    Don’t drive too fast…. We have next week to finish them off

    Enjoy your break, I still think we have a good enough team to make the group stages and the Brendan effect helps (hope wee Griff or Dembelle have a few goals each by the time you are watching) :-)

    I went from red ash or up and down hills at espiside to play on a flat grass park as a young bhoy was like playing a different sport …. 1977 a great year, SSW Innsbruck my first European game at paradise … Canny remember the score but back of the programme was “win a ball competition” must have been a gambler even at 7

  20. Whilst I am on the subject, I wouldn`t be too disappointed with this line up:

    Janko Ambrose Svietchenko Tierney

    Bitton

    Roberts Brown Armstrong

    Dembelle

    Then again, I would like to see McGregor in the team…..and Christie……and Rogic…..and Allan….and Forrest ( maybe).

    Delaneys Dunky you got ST for next season? I renewed but don’t think I’ll make that many due to work, planning on going to away games again this season if I can make it as they are usually Sunday games.

    I presume you are not watching the BBC documentary right, otherwise I don’t think you would have come out with that crass comment.

    You are correct it is very one sided, told by and from the point of view of innocent civilians who been bombed out of their homes, seen their thriving cities reduced to rubble and are running away as quick as they can with their young children ( some with special needs) to Europe for a better life.

    Now just for balance what other point of view should the producers take

    On a day when yet another Brexiteer refuses to clean up the mess they made.

    Equally bad is a Parliamentary Labour Party stuffed with careerists who are determined to bring down a leader overwhelmingly elected by the rank and file of the party.

  28. I forgot Ajer when I picked my team for tomorrow! Just shows how difficult it is to select an obvious `first` eleven. For me, the following are the guaranteed to be selected :

    Gordon;

    Svietchenko;

    Tierney;

    Brown;

    Griffiths.

    I don`t mean that the above are necessarily our best players but they ARE the best in their respective positions.

    My ma went to st marys in the Calton in late 20s to mid 30s.

    She said their final report cards were stamped Calton Advanced School so that the girls had a chance of getting work in Templeton’ s. If they knew they were from st Mary’s they wouldn’t get past the front door.
