We’ve seen more of these games than Brendan

693

Thus far results haven’t mattered, but if his players walk into the dressing room at halftime tomorrow without being in the lead, you can believe there will be an edge in the team- talk. You and I have probably seen more of these kind of games than Brendan. They are seldom straightforward and while the manager plays with pretty much the hand he inherited, I don’t expect a remarkable change in outcomes.

Assuming results go to plan, we’ll have six Champions League qualifiers in the next seven weeks. That’s a lot of football, hopefully most of it will be played with the benefit of one or two more arrivals.

You got Gerry Braiden’s motives spot on. He and I had a wee Twitter exchange on the matter (what could have been a bit of a sticky one, but turned out rather amicable) and I updated the piece accordingly.

We’re on the same page as it turns out. I can live with that.

I haven’t had the chance to reply or write anything on resolution 12 and its associated possible ramifications.

I have been busy on holiday getting lost in sun cream and where to eat.

Essentially Rangers are now a new club in the eyes of UEFA so any transgression in terms of their overdue payable applies to the old club.

In the eyes of the Ramgers support that esoteric link between old and new is unbewakable. The football authorities have involved lawyers in themanufacture of an agreement that may make Phoenix companies permissible in Scots law. The difference is that your debts to society largely dissappear but your debt to football continues.

I am unsure what the outcome would be should the legality of the5 way agreement be challenged in scours of law. However, the football authorities in Scotland recognise Rangers as the same club.

Whyte et al may be despised by the Rangers support but they are still conflicted in judgement of his actions in brown brogues. If Whyte lied wrt the status of the overdue payable it would not be at all surprising.

What would also be surprising is if it emerged that the Football

Authorities were not willing to take action against the current Rangers given their powers to do so as outlined in the5 way agreement.

As a matter of law andcommonsense I like the fact that football clubs can still be punished after they dump

    Their debt.

The customer of any liquidated company has the right to take their custom elsewhere. If you buy a certain type of chocolate I am sure life would go on if your chocolate company is liquidated. The directors and shareholders are punished for their poor governance in law in any other business. However the Rangers brand is unique their customers are tied to

It and in the eyes of theScottish football racket are central to the sales of every other product.

If football in Scotland make the law that allows the club to continue it must use the force of that law to ensure that Inhibit further transgression.

I presume the player is interested in joining us, as why else would we be making additional bids.

A guy they paid 2.5 million for. A guy who contributed very little. 17 games, 2 goals.

How does that equate to a growth in value?

  14. Villa are a relegated club, who need to cut their numbers accordingly.

2 million / 2.2 million tops, and they should do business.

When you consider that we shoe-horn Armstrong and Christie as left wingers, then I would say : Yes, Sinclair is better than what we have wide left. Certainly a more natural in that position.

  18. A lot of you guys will have debated and discussed with me my tastes in TV and movies.

I’m probably well late to the party with this one, but i just finished season 2 of Luther and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. If you thought British cop dramas were all the same, this is the best stuff since Cracker and the killers are more twisted than Jimmy McGovern ever wrote.

Sensational stuff. Not quite as good as Cracker (even the non-McGovern pieces were masterful) but it’s up there with the best shows I’ve seen these past few years, and I’m told season’s 3 and 4 are even more so.

Try and watch the two series of an Italian drama set in Naples called Gomorrah absolutely superb imo

  23. Brendan managing expectations – good for him – there is no ‘magic bullet”

On the transfer-front, things are getting increasingly difficult – the EPL and half of the Championship clubs can outbid us on anyone, both in fees and wages – that could makes us financially thirty-first in the UK queue, when it comes to signing any sought after player.

So let’s be patient and trust Brendan – it may well be that domestic success will be first and foremost on his mind this coming season.

EL Group stages will not be the end of the world if coupled with success at home – added to this a much improved squad and playing style as we move into a new era.
