We’ve seen more of these games than Brendan

693

Thus far results haven’t mattered, but if his players walk into the dressing room at halftime tomorrow without being in the lead, you can believe there will be an edge in the team- talk. You and I have probably seen more of these kind of games than Brendan. They are seldom straightforward and while the manager plays with pretty much the hand he inherited, I don’t expect a remarkable change in outcomes.

Assuming results go to plan, we’ll have six Champions League qualifiers in the next seven weeks. That’s a lot of football, hopefully most of it will be played with the benefit of one or two more arrivals.

  1. My friends in Celtic,

All who have put their heads above the parapet deserve our thanks and support. No matter the eventual outcome. They knew the abuse they would suffer prior to embarking on their mission on our behalf.

BMCUW, happy birthday. Hope you weren’t stuck in the mad traffic jams on the M6 yesterday.

    HH.

  2. Just in from a busy morning and have read back numerous pages. Two items made me feel sad that sometimes people make statements without knowing or remembering anything that has taken place previously.

First someone was questioning the fact that Andy Murray appeared to be in tears at the end of the match yesterday. A little thought as to what Andy has come through in his life would enable us to appreciate that not every moment of his existence has been easy. His childhood was marked by the family break up and being part of the Dunblane disaster. Either of these events would certainly scar him. But he has carried on and deserves his rewards and the right to express his emotions.

The second statement annoying was the one that appeared to question why Eric Riley was giving up his position at Celtic; it was questioned whether the real reason why he was retiring was truly down to ill health. Perhaps the author of this needless was not aware like others on here that he has been ill for some time.

On a light note, I wonder if granny Murray lit as many candles in Kilsyth this year as she appears to have done the previous time Andy won Wimbledon.

Any confirmation of any channels showing the match tomorrow?

Was listed on Premier sports but has now been removed. Presume it will be on Celtic TV.

A post last night suggested BT Sport were covering tomorrow’s game, nothing on their planner….

  5. It has been announced the two mystery strikers the Warbo is just adout to Swoop for have been named as Maguire and Patterson, more to follow

I saw both those comments , the first about Andy Murray I believe was said with tongue in cheek , the other was posted by a troll who is best ignored.

well said, i think sometimes people think that whats said on the internet doesn’t have any affect in the real world.

  9. !!BADA BING!!

I checked last night and nothing was showing so I’m guessing it has been updated this morning, I have access to BT Sport so I’m happy, saves me trawling internet sites to get a stream.

  10. Happy Birthday BMCUW, enjoy your day. It was a pleasure to meet you at long last on Saturday.

Regarding Eric Riley, I think some people will jump at any opportunity to suggest that the Celtic board members are being dishonest or taking money out of the club.

  12. A question for Auldheid or perhaps anyone who can clear something up with regard to our dearly departed old foes from Govan, that came up during a discussion I was having with someone.

After the new club first had their application to join the Spl, then their application to enter the first division rejected and then were accepted into the bottom division….Did any or all of the Sfa, Spfl, Sfl etc. Put out statements to explain why the new club, did not play in Europe (as if they were the same club, finishing second in the Spl qualified them for Europe) and why the new club were not exempt from the early rounds of the Scottish Cup (as if they were the same club they would be exempt as they played in the Spl the previous season)

I guess there must have been some official statement or reason but I can’t remember or if there wasn’t, then why not?

Apologies if Maguire and Patterson are matches in your neck of the woods! :)

Amazing that Montgomerie who is sponsored by Sky hits 1st shot in the Open….

It should never be on a subscription channel, shameful of the BBC to pass it up to Sky

As they were in admin and owed social taxes they didn’t qualify for European football on that basis.

This also raises the issue of what UEFA actually said in their letter to the RES12 guys. Did they say that SFA and UEFA became aware that oldco had not met the criteria for Euro participation in 2011/2012 or did they say they became aware Oldco wouldn’t meet the criteria for the following season or did UEFA not say what year they were referring to?

Without the letter being published I guess we’ll never know. BTW I do understand why it’s not been published and have no desire to put pressure on the Res12 guys, it’s just that without seeing the whole text of UEFA’s response we have to rely on others interpretation on what the correspondence contained. The actual wording from UEFA is crucial to understanding where they sit on these issues.

I agree with you re the open and subscription channels. A contradiction in terms.

However Montgomery may have been invited as Troon is his home course.

Then again he is a RRM.

Hopefully sky have not had any influence there.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !! Have a good one ! I’m off today so Guinness on the cards soon , will raise a glass of the black stuff to you HH !!

Predictive text on my tablet! Tried to type Lurgan. It had already tried to call you Lutheran, which is probably even worse.

I thought initially Maguire and Patterson might have been Irish trade union guys.

  19. clogher celt on

Happy Birthday BMCUWPs, I hope you had a great weekend.

Last week wasn’t a great week for all things Sevconian,

    1) Res 12 Update, UEFA’s response.

    2) 3 Resignations from Rangers First/Club 1872?

    3) Club 1872 funding scheme? Loans/Projects/Admin Fee?

    4) Lionbrand/ Hope for Heroes fiasco?

    5) Stewart Robertson not running (no support) for Board of SPFL?

    6) Concerns over the cost of maintenance of the stadium?

    What’s next?

In these circumstances it’s unfortunate but not uncharacteristic that a few trolls resort to spiteful personalised comments.

If I have forgotten anything from the six items above please feel free to add to them:))

  20. !!Bada Bing!! on

GGH-Montgomerie had to qualify, the cynic in me putting 2 and 2 together,Sky’s first Open and a Sky sponsored player hitting the first shot, which is televised live for first time…..

  21. CLOGHER CELT :

Warburton still hasn’t signed his contract.

Two of his key players have turned theirs down.

    :) There’s a couple for starters!

    Can’t fault that reasoning.
