Who will rid me of this turbulent priest

172

In 1170, exasperated at St Thomas Becket, then Archbishop of Canterbury, Henry II shouted, “Who will rid me of this turbulent priest?”  Four knights heard the king and took it as an instruction to kill Becket, leaving Henry with plausible deniability.

When the terrible deed was done, Henry claimed to be outraged and sought penance for his words, but endured no earthly justice.  No one would dare cross him again.

After 842 years this might be the oldest trick in the book.

  3. Radio Scotland Graham Spiers “McCoist is culpable……………. he shouldn’t be punished.” Good grief, what an idiot!

Yup and I frantically check other news websites to see if anything has.

  5. Another good comment James Forrest in the words of the “great ” Jim Whyte “How come your so good” , keep up the good work.

Those pesky Chelsea fans again, you’d think they’d be happy enough getting to the Champions League but no they’d be threatening our Panels. Only one headline from Orlando put threats and Rangers fans in their heading. I am very surprised, because if Rangers (IRA) [ In real administration] had made an appeal i would have expected all kinds of leniency but now with mccoists ramblings and fans threats to the Panel i feel that the SFA cant be seen to back down. Which does not look good for them.

  6. Fat Sally gives Collyer Bristow their defence arguement for the actions of Withey..

“Rangers Football Club was a victim of what happened during the tenure of Craig Whyte. The Club was not an accomplice, a co-conspirator nor a perpetrator of wrongdoing.

“We suffered from it and still are. I hope that our appeal can be dealt with by the SFA as quickly as possible as the situation for the Club and the possible ramifications for Scottish football are very serious.”

  7. Just read no brain Hately’s article what a fecking fud that man is.jabba must have helped him write it.What a low life hun rag that paper is.

  8. Just read the nescient scribblings of that semi-illiterate bozo Hateley- is this chump for real? How can a national newspaper with a sizeable readership irresponsibly allow this sort of moonshine to be published? Any of the rank & file psychopaths amongst the hordes will read this as a green light to initiate all sorts of carnage…how could this witch doctor Hatelie peddle this banana oil after what happened last season? These are dangerous times. If only one person- whether that be someone in the Celtic family or anybody else- then sapheads like McSneaky, Hatelie & the editor of the Daily Ranger should know they have blood on their hands. These words are like playing with matches in a combustible atmosphere- it verges on an incitement of hatred: but then this is what happens when you give a platform to witless rogues with the unfortunate personality’s of puerile cretins.

I cannot even begin to comprehend the logic that says: They cannot be on an SFA panel because they are not football people. What does that even mean? Does that mean if a footballer does something morally wrong ( like punch someone on the pitch) that only football people can morally judge that misdemeanor? Back to the party line I’ve already heard countless times: Rangers deserve to be punished but…instead all we get is that they are being unfairly victimized.

Hatelie should be strung up until all the sap is drained from his scraggy scrawney body.

    “McCoist instigated a witchhunt”

    Next sentence

    “No, he shouldn’t be punished”

I’d like to say unbelieveable but this is so typical.

  11. The media darling Dark Mingwall has a thread up in his online stinkhole entitled “Where are the Blue Knights?”

It questions why they have went quiet. Turns out they are trying to get Whyte to hand his shares over. Now this degenerates as you can imagine as they debate how to do this:

“transit van and a couple of ski masks would be a start”

“I know of more than 1 bear who are currently serving or are ex-members of The Regiment. They can be very persuasive..”

“Maybe the Club should invite Whyte to the Dundee United game and let us take it from there”

“Craig whyte & his dad should be getting more of a focus on them at this point. Whyte’s whole family should rot in hell.”

“He should be hounded at every opportunity. Him, his family and business interests are all legitimate targets and, yes, if threats have to be made then so be it. All’s fair in love and war and all that.”

“Perhaps we could organise a fund to allow some bears to visit Craig Whyte and express our concerns and his options personally.”

“He can if we boot him all the way across France”

“His family need pressure put on them”

And the public face of the Rangers support has posted in this thread, leaving all of those comments in it.

This is the public face who is an integral part of the Blue Knights bid. This is the gallery McCoist played to.

    Shameful and reprehensible.

  16. I keep hearing the journos and pundits say that Rangers must be punished for their wrongdoing but it seems that they don’t like it when it actually happens.

They don’t want points to be deducted, they don’t want transfer embargoes, demotions, fines or stripped titles. So, just what do they suggest? They never say!

Punish them but don’t punish them.

I think we need to be a wee bit understanding regarding the pressures on Ally McCoist.

The bakers are marching on 10 Downing Street today to complain about the ‘pastie tax’ – it’s probably all too much for Ally – “the steak bake that broke the camels back” so to speak.

  18. Serious questons must be asked about Mcoists in my opinion planned tirade on rangers tv lets be clear Mcoist is no thicko from the copland road from row, he is well versed when it comes to dealing with the media, he knows only too well that a large section of his clubs support listen intently to his statements, Mcoist whether he likes it or not is a voice piece for the club he mismanages, his voice is the voice of rangers to some, that is unquestionable, what is also unquestionable is that he in using the inflammatory words is culpable of not only bringing the game into disrepute, he is also in my opinion culpable of placing the safety of the panel members and members of the sfa at risk of harm, this was not some interview where the cheeky chappie looks to stir the bretheren into backing the club during their time of financial plight ala we dont do walking away, this was a clear statement that his club in some way was being unfairly targetted, it was an attack on his club and its supporters, whilst in my opinion the conduct of Mcoist is not befitting the behaviour of a soon to be manager of a Third Divsion Club the more worrying aspect of it all was the distinct lack of editorial control at rangers tv before this rant was aired, they are out of control, totally out of control and their actons or inactions place the safety of the wider public at risk. Time for Strathclydes finest to divert their resources away from the Green Brigade and look south of the river methinks.
