Why SFA will reject Rangers appeal

279

The reason a transfer ban was imposed on Rangers is straightforward enough, they bought players and cannot pay for them. Clubs from Vienna to Edinburgh are owed money and have little prospect of being paid ahead of the coming transfer window, a fact which will have an enormous impact on their own competitive challenge next season.

The SFA cannot allow member clubs to continue to splash cash on players while clubs from other associations go without payment. It has a duty to inhibit clubs in violation of the rules from further strengthening while others have been weakened as a consequence.

This notion is tolerated in Scotland (only by those with a vested interest in Rangers flourishing) but is simply untenable. The appeal will be rejected.

It beggars belief that Duff and Phelps complain that Rangers competitive challenge will be inhibited as a result of not being able to sign yet more players, the administrators are the architects of the situation the club finds itself in.

Duff and Phelps devised a plan which would see Rangers retain their squad, or at the very least, be in a position to trade players in the summer. The plan was sold as a great victory, a panacea which would ensure the club would continue to field a competitive team throughout the administration process, something unheard of at other clubs in the same situation.

At significant cost to creditors, they kept players on full pay for several weeks before agreeing to retain the entire squad on reduced salaries. Throughout this period they played teams they owe money to, including Hearts, who they defeated last week while using a player bought from Hearts with an outstanding £800k bill.

For signing players and gaining a competitive advantage, without paying for them, inhibiting competitors’ teambuilding efforts, the only appropriate punishment is a transfer ban.

No disrespect to junior, amateur and lower league teams, but…

One team in Glasgow,
There’s only one team in Glasgow.
One team in Glasgow,
There’s only one team in Glasgow…

Apparently Brian Kennedy was on the radio this morning saying he is not joining with TBKs.

Any coalition would only come once the result of the appeal against the transfer embargo is heard and a result comes.

    More Jackson Moonbeams.

Keith Jackson should just come out with the rest of the media and say Rangers are pining for the fjords and be done with it.

The fact that he won Journalist of the year is a disgrace.

They were reliant on TiketUS for the initial working capital but with this gone I assume BK is putting it up instead.

All we need now is to get this bloody SFA ban lifted and we can move forward.

TicketUS will go after Whyte who will no doubt try to sell Auchenhowie or Ibrox to pay them so it is important that D&P & TBK get as much good stuff to use against him as possible.

We MUST remove Whyte’s floating charge over the assets or it’ll come back to bite us.

Feeling cautiously optimistic that a plan is in full swing here.

“Why SFA will reject Rangers appeal”.

I agree with your headline however you don’t say anything about the punishment that has been handed out.

I believe the appeal panel will uphold the decision of the Tribunal, ie. guilty verdicts on all charges.

However, the appeal panel will also reduce the penalty. The fines will be reduced or dropped and the transfer embargo will become a suspended sentence for a defined period, eg 2 or 3 years good behaviour.

By upholding the guilty verdict the panel and SFA will be able to claim no fear of intimidation. By reducing the penalty they will go some way towards soothing the raging masses.

  9. Ticketus joined up with the bidders as they knew they would get more money that way than via a CVA.

Ticketus have now said they do not feel they will get the ROI they want by funding the takeover.

This means they now believe their best chance of getting the most money for their creditors is via a channel that is not CVA or part of the bid.

The only other option is liquidation.

If there is a preferred bidder named today just sit back and keep laughing as there is no way a CVA can be agreed with Ticketus…..and we haven’t even started talking about good old Hector.

  12. Fat Sally has revealed Duff and Phelps believe they are close to striking a deal which would see Rangers taken over.

The Light Blues manager spoke to the firm today and was encouraged by what heard two and a half months after the club went into administration.

The Blue Knights, Brian Kennedy, Bill Ng and Bill Miller have all shown an interest in purchasing the Ibrox outfit at various stages.

And while McCoist would not divulge who Duff and Phelps are currently negotiating with, he believes forward steps are being taken.

He said: “I’ve spoken to the administrators this morning and they were very positive with news that they are close to getting a deal done with a potential purchaser.

“They didn’t tell me who it was or go into any greater detail other than tell me they were very, very close which is obviously encouraging.”

It has been reported this morning that Kennedy is poised to team up with the Paul Murray-led Blue Knights to submit a joint bid.

And having spoken extensively to both men, McCoist admits he would have no issues with them pushing a deal through and taking charge.

He maintains he would have exactly the same stance if American tycoon Miller were to be successful.

Asked if he would be happy for a Murray/Kennedy alliance to move in, McCoist added: “Of course I would.

“I’ve got to tell you, having also spoken to Bill Miller on numerous occasions he definitely seems to have the club’s best interests at heart too.

“The fact him and I had a conversation for well over an hour after the (transfer embargo) decision was made on Monday night would indicated he is seriously interested.

“Again, I have spoken to Paul Murray and indeed Brian Kennedy on numerous occasions and if either of those gentlemen got control, I’d have no problem at all.”

McCoist admits he does not know if the deal Duff and Phelps are close to agreeing would see the club exit administration via a company voluntary agreement.

He said: “They didn’t give me that information at all but as we’ve said all along, that would be the ideal situation. They are hopeful of getting a deal done.”

Firstly, Fat Sally demands to know the identity of those on the SFA panel who decided the appropriate punishment. Think about it. He was blaming them for killing Rangers. Wrong!!!! They didn’t kill Rangers. Rangers greedy hierarchy killed Rangers. Something Fat Sally should be all too aware of, and therefore ai lot more careful about exactly what he said. Of course now that the lunatics are out sending threats he denounces them. To little, to late Sally. Your big gob came out with a comment that inflamatory to say the least. Can you imagine the uproar if Neil Lennon had come out with such comment? The Scottish press would have had a field day. Now we have Sandy Jardine coming out with even more nonsense

I wish I had something cheerful to contribute but I am filled with a sense of foreboding about Sunday. I know what you mean, but none of this is Celtic’s fault, unless you count breathing and existing.

Ask yourself what the best way might be to cool their ardour. I think it will be if their team takes an absolute doing on the field. If we are wiping the floor with them, even if the scoreline only partially reflects it, they will quieten down.

You are entirely correct to be fearful of how this might play out later in the pubs and on the streets, but at the stadium itself, our heroes can help douse these flames.

Away from the stadium, as Paul says, we all need to play with the heid. Even those of us who are quite far away.

I see the Kilwinning Two will be out next Summer. According to the judge it was not terrorism. In fact, he said he “could not fathom” what could have possessed these “family men” to act in such a way.

Does this man live in Scotland, or on the moon?

He is either being “disingenuous”, or inhabits a cosseted, rarified environment which should prohibit him from sitting in judgment on those of us who are in the real world.

He is a rugby man. Sale Sharks least Stockport County’s ground so that they could have a decent ground for Premiership Rugby.
