Whyte opens door on finances as securitisation confirmed

991

Craig Whyte laid out Rangers finances in a statement today, released in response to the Daily Record’s series of articles on the club this morning.  Whyte explained Rangers operating costs are around £45m while their income is approximately £35m, adding that the club needs to “live within its means”.

He confirmed the central allegation from the Record, that Rangers have securitised income from future season ticket sales in order to provide money for the club to pay its current costs, while denying they owe £5m VAT.

I have refreshed the page several times since an initially read and see no attempt to address the glaring question, if Rangers are spending tomorrow’s income today, what happens tomorrow?  It beggars belief that someone thought it was a good idea to confirm a fact like without addressing the enormous question now hanging over the club.

Maybe an octopus ate Craig’s homework.

I’ve no idea how much money Rangers have in the bank right now, at this time on transfer deadline day, no one even seems to know if they have sold prize-asset, Jelavic, to Everton, but no matter how much of the securitised income remains, if this is not a dead parrot, it’s in severely poor health.

More power to you, Craig.  I’ll not have a word said against you.

  1. P67,

Rankers current fit top scorer (with Laffatme and Naiheart out injured)?

    It’s OG with 4!!!

    Hail! Hail!

  2. Did anyone else see the video on stv of Ally leaving Ibrox tonight? Now as the manager of a club which is sponsored by Audi, I would have expected to see him getting into his company car. I think Neil has an Audi Q8?

Anyway he gets into an old Toyota Land Cruiser that sounded like a tractor starting up. I couldn’t help but think you would only be driving that if you were leaving your company car behind for good. . . . .

  3. Oh dear, seems the penny (arcade) is finally dropping even amongst the brain donors on the ole Follow Follow:

    Craig Whyte’s contradictions laid bare…

Said he’d sue the BBC –

    He didn’t.

Boasted that he had rid us of the oppressive Lloyds banking facilities –

Only to mortgage our next 4 years season ticket cash, with interest rates that are the football-business equivelant of Wonga.com

Said earlier in the window that we needed more strikers and we’d bring them in-

We now have one fit striker and he refused to sanction any spending despite us moving on 11 players. Yes, Europe was Ally’s fault but it’s scandalous we couldn’t even bring in loanees

He said last summer that he hadn’t written up “new” contracts for mortgaging season ticket money-

He failed to mention that he already had an “old” one which saw the borrowed funds in his account before the deal to buy us was complete

Claimed “he” had cleared the Lloyds debt-

Actually “we” did, in a way.

He claimed today that the Ticketus loan system was used by the previous board-

He failed to mention it was used just once, for £5m, he has failed to mention that he has borrowed around 5x this. If he extended our overdraft with Lloyds rather than paying them off to £75m…would it be the previous regimes fault just because they set up the account?

He’s quite clever, he doesn’t blatantly lie, he lies by omission (you were right, Dylanger), and quite frankly has shown a bigger brass-neck than Sir Minty ever did.

Craig Whyte has not invested a penny in Rangers, but he’s crippled our current and future turnover, increased our debt, destroyed our playing pool..

All this before the tax verdict is even given.

The man is a busted flush.

  4. I remember the last few January transfer windows on here.

    Horrible.

BUT…the death of Karma FC has stunned everyone.

Even the glass totally empty guys can’t type the negative stuff cos of the huns’ imminent funeral.

    Respect.

  5. eh up guys, I know it’s late but do any of you fancy a few season tickets???

I’ll do you a crackin’ deal and you can pay me up front if you want?

Let’s say, five years? how’s that for you?

Thanks Lhads. Sleep better tonight.. Thats twice ive been rang this year and its only march

  11. why ghuys talking crap about having 5 rightbacks at the club

wilson ~ loaned and out of contract in summer

cha du ria ~ out of contract in summer

juarez ~ can play right back but prefers midfield

in season 2012-13 we will have:

    two right backs

    two left backs

four centre backs ~ loovens, thompson, dan, odea out of contract

    four outside mids (r/l mids)

    four centre mids

    four strikers

    two goalkeepers

we have a big squad right now, but with one eye on the future, this is forward planning

    good business in my eyes

Not really, been too hung up on trying to find value with home wins.

I have just been turned on to the goals thing, I will look at it, but my mantra is don’t change it when you are winning.

I still get tips for the cuddys every other day which sort of break evenish, am reluctant to post them as my knowledge is non existant, the golf will be starting soon enough, I like the golf, there are always players who are good EW bets for a few weeks at a time.

What you’ve seen in the press yesterday is an attempt by The Record to break Rankers before any tax case does. (Big or small) Why ? Doesn’t take much working out…

  18. Mmmmm

    What an interesting transfer window!

Dignity appeared to have sold / loaned out a fair chunk of their bench who were on relatively higher money and we have held our squad together and added a few more.

Dignity’s problem , apart from the money, is getting , tip tappy Bosmans to fit into their agricultural style of play and general bad manners on a football pitch……… I suspect that many decent English teams are reluctant to send their youngsters to that lot!

The DR story is a hoot, MBB bought the club with the fans own money, backed up by some CW money, the source of which HMRC is now investigating……. anymore DR revelations then MBB will need to get out of town

I now make that 9 working days since the FTT finished ……. MSM now looking to back the right horse before the impeding doom ……… FTT before end of Feb 2012 methinks, how long can it can take to write up the findings on a blatant tax wheeze! “the whole enterprise consisted of a set of players, who each had a role who in turn exectuted precisely a series of actions with the overall express purpose of avoiding ….. supported by specific documentation, blah blah blah “…. can’t be that hard , can it?

This is indeed our time… Since 1888.. We endured the Bombastic Murray yrs with our humility, integrity, incredulity.. We could see their house of cards , their tissue of lies.. We knew the sums did not add up.. We saw no one save for Graham Spiers on occasion( Phil Mac G excepted)stood up and asked questions of Murrays finance, MIH ETC… He was cute, befriended the first minister and more..

But yesterday was our day.. Celtic F. C.. honesty, integrity, charity at its core.

For Brother Walfrid, John Thomson, Johnny Doyle, Jock Stein, Jimmy Johnstone, Phil O Donnel and of course Tommy Burns who suffered greatly at their financial incontinence…

Amen.. This moment of righteousness and justice is for the Celtic family wherever and whoever you may be..

Enjoy it.. This is who we are.. This is why Celtic Football club exists.

We Shall not be moved.. And with Celtic in your heart

    You will never walk alone..

    Goodnight.. Peace in your life.

A wee bit of advice for the goals thing, feel yer way into the over 3.5s ;)

A good balance is 4 over 2.5s and 4 over 1.5s, especially on a Saturday afternoon. Go and nail a few of them first and find the favourite teams that work hard for your good self.

  23. So the Huns save around 40k a week on wages? Is that about right? Jelavich and Weir must have been bigger earners?

Million a year, slightly more? Fair estimate?

Will this make any diff to their income vs expenditure figs outlined by CW today?
