Words are easy, so are actions

After yesterday’s discussion on values, what we’re all about and where we’re going, today’s announcement by the Foundation that they will have a badge day at the Dundee United game on 11 May is something that requires us to step forward and do something about.

“Volunteers will be in place at all turnstile areas and supporters will be asked to make a donation of minimum £1 in return for a badge, which illustrates the new Celtic FC Foundation crest.  All monies raised on the day will support our work challenging homelessness in the Glasgow area.”

I’m going to volunteer.  You should too.  It will mean getting to the game a wee bit earlier but it will also mean you can look those values we all preach in the eye.  Words are easy but on this occasion, so are actions.  Let’s do it.

I’ll find out how you volunteer and report back soon.

    NHS

Not going to get into any NHS arguements with anybody on this subject , but I must say the service I got was phenominal. Got a doctor (plus his wee baby) in 5 minutes, coastguard in 10, ambulance and medics (from another island, Islay in 20), they must have commandeered the ferry! Helicopter in 30, full of Morphine and oxygen by then, + plus that air/gas stuff the give birthing ladies! No one able to get a needle into me because of collapsed veins, so they just smack the stuff though the top of my arm, medic on ambulance screams at partner not to move cause she thinks she’s found a vein and he’s guilty of opening the back door and moving the ambulance! medic on chopper calls hospital to get permission to administer more than the max morphine as I was “rather poorly”.

Fishing at Noon, collapsed, thought I was a goner, almost pain free by 3pm, amazing. Can’t praise them highly enough

  2. Atletico a credit to their coach. Magnificent display. They didn’t just beat barca the night, they hammered them.

  3. Don’t like Real, never forgiven Atletico and hate the London Huns. Mon the Bayern!

  4. I imagine that the following is as true as anything attributed to politicians.

Martin McGuinness Denies Writing “Up The Ra” In The Queens Jacks

    April 9, 2014

THE HISTORIC accord reached when Irish President Michael D. Higgins made his first official visit to the United Kingdom for a banquet meeting with British monarch Elizabeth II: Elizabeth Harder has been thrown into chaos after Northern Irish First Minister Martin McGuinness has been accused of writing “Up The Ra” in the toilets of Windsor Castle.

Mr. McGuinness denies the accusation and claimed that he only used the toilet for “a quick shite” but was rudely interrupted by Michael D. who Mr. McGuinness claims was responsible for scrawling the xenophobic graffiti.

“All the fois gras, caviar and assorted opulent nonsense food made me need to shite something awful,” confided Mr. McGuinness. “So I excused myself with the witty remark that I was going to ‘drop a bomb’ off and made for the toilets.”

Mr. McGuinness claims that he was sitting on the toilet when president Higgins came in and “started pissing all over the marble floor” while loudly whistling Amhran Na bhFiann and laughing.

“He then scurried under the cubicle door, high fived me on the mickey, said ‘Brits out wha?’ and sparked up a smoke,” continued Mr. McGuinness, who claims that the Irish President then took out a marker pen and scrawled ‘Up The Ra’ on the cubicle wall.

“I tried to stop him and tell him how inappropriate it was but he just said ‘fuck that’ and told me there was an awful bang of shite coming out of both my holes, meaning my arse and my mouth,” added Mr. McGuinness. “He then just started scribbling like mad, writing ‘sex is cool’, ‘fuck da police’, ’2pac’ and ‘Brits out’ on the cubicle door.”

“He then called me a nordy spa, finished his smoke and left,” added a visibly shaken Mr. McGuinness.

Buckingham Palace have not revealed details of the extent of the graffiti found merely stating that some “inappropriate material” was found in one of the toilets.

President Higgins has so far not publicly denied Mr. McGuinness’s accusations but it is expected that he will emerge from his hobbit hole sometime later today to make a denial as soon as his speech writers decide on which philosophers to quote.

  5. The Barca of old doesn’t exist. They deserve no more affection than the Sevcos of the modern day.

  6. I hated everything about athletico after their shame game against us in 1974 but could not fault their effort tonight a thoroughly deserved victory.

  7. !!bada bing!!

They need a manager that stops playing Fabregas and Neymar ahead of Pedro and Alexis.

A keeper, a right back and a centre half wouldn’t go amiss either

  8. !!Bada Bing!! on

Rooney proving again he’s nowhere near a World Class player, posted last week he wouldn’t get a game for Bayern,Real or Barca,no pace, poor fitness.

The chopper bit was claustrophobic (spelling?) you slide yer body into a coffin-like space towards the rear, no space to move, ear-muffs on so;- too much noise to communicate with medics, the panic in my eyes must have said it all! Hope I can get through the next few years without a similar experience!

  10. !!Bada Bing!! on

K33- agree,Fabregas never at that level.Iniesta gets subbed as Neymar hides .Coach under pressure, seemingly Messi had a lot to do with his appointment.

  11. The barca of old is gone. The aura is gone. The beauty is gone. Guardiola has gone.

They desperately need a plan B upfront and a plan A in defence.

  12. All the Spanish teams were violent in that er including the national side.

Maybe something to do with Franco.

Barca were as bad as anybody at times – early 80’s for example.

  13. bd – agree with you on rooney – capable of great stuff when he’s surrounded by world class players but as a player himself he’s good not great
