You, your Celtic heritage and Vanessa

759

I’m sure many of you will be aware of the Vanessa Riddle appeal which has featured in the comments page in recent weeks.  Vanessa was diagnosed with a form of childhood cancer in 2009 but after extensive and difficult treatment received the all clear 17 months ago.  Last month her parents received news that she had suffered a relapse and that no suitable treatment was available in the UK.  Treatment is available in Philadelphia at a cost of £500,000.

Although the diagnosis is only a few weeks old the fundraising effort to send Vanessa to Philadelphia has already raised over £137k with increasing numbers of people becoming aware of the need on a daily basis (CQN’er, Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan is not a man to be denied).

To help raise awareness and funds, Taggsybhoy has booked Jury’s Inn, Glasgow, two nights next month, one of which, Saturday 11th February, he will hold a Music Quiz for the CQN community, with all proceeds going to the Vanessa Riddle Appeal.  You may have heard mention of the appeal but if you have not caught the details take a moment to update yourself here.  Getting involved is as part of your Celtic heritage as green and white hoops.  Don’t forget to book for the quiz, there’s a limit of 70 people for the room so you can’t turn up unannounced.  We’re home to the Highanders that day.

Issue 6 of CQN Magazine is currently being prepared; drop me a line if you would like to advertise, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

What do you call the hotel that sits just behind yon square (piccadilly?) that the huns wrecked? There’s a car park beside it.

What if Craig Whyte’s whole plan is to make money from liquidation and then walk away? In that scenario what if there’s nobody willing to take them on?

Now I know that it’s unlikely that both would come to pass but if it was there’s nothing anybody could do about it. They would die.

(although I suspect it would be a great opportunity for Dermot Desmond to take over and actually see a profit from investing in Scottish football).

It was not a cut and paste, it was sent me (like I said). You still neglect to explain your infatuation with that innocuous post, is it difficult to do, or are you just trying to deflect something.. I note you still did not answer any of my questions of you. Whatever, I didn’t expect you to from all the past experiences. Still the next time you’re in Brisbane, give me a shout I’d love to catch up for a beer or two .

I hope the rain stops soon in your part of the world, I heard you’re taking a pounding. You made my night again buddie, thank you and God bless.

Then when the government is reformed or, whatever structures are put in place after independance…WE will pay the hun tax bill out of our own pockets! IMO!

That’ll never happen. It couldn’t possibly be kept totally private and then it’s open doors to every other Scottish ‘institution’ that’s (or gets) in trouble, of which there are many.

I think the closest we might get to that scenario is Glasgow City Council buying Ibrox and leasing it back to them.

Wotte has the same problem as Regan, Doncaster and the rest who have come into Scottish football over the years. They can have the best, most progressive idead to move the game forward but because of who they work for and report to, they cannot sell these ideas to the self-interested dinosaurs who run our clubs, leagues, organisations etc.

Everyone knows what’s wrong, there are many solutions that could improve the game, but they all require to be tailored to suit the self-interest and therefore lose impact.

Hopefully the administration/liquidation of two of our top clubs in the coming months is the rocket under the backsides of those holding the game back that is desparately needed. But somehow I doubt it.

“I think the Scottish government will pay the hun tax bill under the table!”

Why would the Govt pay the huns tax bill, what earthly reason would they have for doing that??

They’re a fitbaw team no more than that apart from in the eyes of their own deluded supporters.

You’re giving credence to the “we arra peepul” mindset and to to suggest that the SNP are rushing towards independence just to save the huns beggars belief!!

I’m unsure of the form that they will take, but rest assured, in 3 or 5 or 10 years time there will be some morphed version of RFC that they will still be following.

Reserve League was scrapped as certain PL clubs were moaning about the cost.

I have argued for years that this country can only sustain two leagues, anything below should be amateur/junior and if you get the chance to come up you go professional or forfeit your place.

Still think a Celtic U21 team in Div 3 would pull in thousands at the gate for these clubs. Hopefully the rangers first team will be playing in that Division next season…

  22. ASonOfDan –

Since they (other clubs) don’t want us to have a B team in the lower leagues, and they don’t appear keen on any agreement that links us with a lower league club and loan them 5 players per season, we should link up with a lower league club in England and give them up to 5 of our players per season.

Probably more beneficial for the players and the club as they will be playing at a higher standard than in Scotland.
