There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC. Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.
The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities. The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo. Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business. Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.
It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League. Maybe not the wisest PR move.

Look at their choices again:
SPL with a team of kids and McCulloch
OR
Division 3 with a team of kids plus McCulloch and any leftovers from Rangers oldco.
Choice one means a beating on a regular basis in the league, little chance of top six and humilation
Choice two means newco, loss of history and the humiliation in division 3
For us it is win win either way.
The braindead rangers fans will now demand division 3 to “punish” Scottish football and when this happens all the myths about SKY TV contracts and the SPL needs them will vanish.

So…… an appeal board chose not to intergere with the tribunal of first instance?
Well that will not come as a shock to the legal types that frequent these pages, as the onus was all on Rangers to show why no reasonable Tribunal could have come up with that decision acting reasonably and lawfully.
If I were advising Rangers i would not be looking to take this particular matter any further.
The whole thing now leaves the SFA in a wee bit of a quandry right enough. They must look at Rangers as having been properly punished in terms of these actions.
If the BBC documentary, The Big Tax case, or anything else reveals in future weeks that there was prolonged and deliberate wrongdoing at the club, including misleading the SFA and similar charges, it will be hard to find good reason to grant such a club a licence to play.
I have written before that the SFA never mind the SPL will face a huge conflict of interest….. and that conflict is only just beginning because as they used to say in all good cartoons…….. you ain’t seen nothing yet folks.
Oh… and by the way… all those who want Celtic to say more, do more, shout louder etc?
