Extra week training in July has huge impact

2173

I was concerned about a trip to Estonia after hearing Hearts struggle in their home leg against Estonian opponents last week, so news that Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps beat Flora Tallinn was welcome, although the concern was tempered as news arrived that Hearts were three goals up in the away leg.

The lesson here is that in July, one more week’s training has a huge impact on performance.

Brendan Rodgers will be happy with how training has progressed thus far, but it’s only when players put multiple 90 minutes under their belts that they are ready for competitive action. There’s not necessarily a great deal of work to do to overcome Red Imps (no offence intended), but qualifiers come thick and fast thereafter. Despite beating Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana yesterday, I expect Celtic will be more motivated for Saturday’s game against Maribor.

It gets serious from now onwards.

    Thanks for the comments.

    The five stars is a moot point. The Orcs decided that had to have something to hang a story on, good marketing and a gullible/compliant audience bought into it. The old marketing adage of ” don’t sell the sausage, sell the sizzle” won out. The fact were immaterial, as long as I have a hole in my arse they will have the five stars nonsense. Unless, the power we have is applied in the correct manner.

    The removal of Doncaster and Regan is already a done deal, they occupy desks with empty drawers. The concern I have is that we have allowed th numbskulls at Hampden time to get the next generation of incompetents time to bed in.

    I understand UEFA saying they died but canman and res12 was about the SFA granting a license to oldco was it not?

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Indeed it was and still is, but UEFA volunteered us,as part of their justification for not wishing to investigate further, a bit of information that many supporters are interested in and many on the other side don’t want to see, but it would have been wrong to sit on until we were able to finish our job as we saw it.

    That plus the relevant part of no sanctions applying until the next season really could not be delayed any further. Getting it out there also removes any possibility Res12 was about sanctioning TRFC and was all about the SFA.

    Spot on mate. Delighted by today’s result , especially for the work the res12 bhoys put in , but how I would love to see Hampden cleared out from top to bottom . Because that place is rotten to the core , not one bit of fairness shown to any club bar one . Until the place is gutted the smell will linger .

    A question for Auldheid

    Celtic will no doubt be in receipt of Uefa’s letter & confirmation of New Clubs status.

    So when will they publicly describe the club currently playing out of Govan as such & when will they publicly call for The SFA to recognise Uefa’s position?

    Surely there’s no reason now for Celtic to remain silent?

    ===================

    I don’t see this as Celtic’s call in public. The SFA have a copy, they know their Articles in terms of abiding by UEFA rules and if SFA are bound then just as UEFA’s word carry authority so too would the SFA’s who by the way have proffered no view o date.

    Mr Doncaster has, but SPFL are bound to SFA rules.

    Somebody mentioned that PMcG was going to contact the SFA with regard to the EUFA response, would that be based on the full response or only on what has been released by yourselves?

    I remember Macjay being abused as a non Celtic fan. Transpires that, those who met him, found that he was a true Celtic man.

    The same is probably true of the Mats Niloc guy.

  12. Let me put the record straight – I wish the full consequences of the cheating, fraud and lying perpretated by the occupants of Ibrox, whether that is the ‘dead’ club, or its successor, to be fully visited on them.

    However I am a realist, a pragmatist, who is well aware how the system in Scotland works.

    There is not a ‘hope in hell’ of universal acceptance that Sevco is a new club that has win nothing at top-level. The contorted jusification of the same club myth by those in the Scottish media will continue unabated.

    I do have some hope that legal moves could be successful after a positive verdict from the Supreme Court.

    I do not doubt the assiduity or competence of those closely involved in the Res 12 issue.

    Congratulations to you and the ghuys, maybe you can free Morissey23 now:)

    Many counter-flowing thoughts from me but just one little question.

    Many state that on the New, Old Club debate that the SFA are firmly on the Old Club side.

    I’ve never heard them state that, in fact I don’t believe they even look on events in those terms. The term they (carefully) use is The current Rangers (Sevco) are a “continuation”, I expect them to stick with line, do you?

    What is the next stage to get FtSFA held accountable ?

    And will our Club, (and as a shareholder I expect), Celtic to take action

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    As the Update ends Res12 will have met its aim by getting the case to the CFCB. (Canalamar take a big long bow). It should have been Celtic but they had concerns and we are where we are.

    Much will depend on the strength of that case which depends on clarification from UEFA that their response does not provide.

    A good outcome would be a look at all the information that is available and any that has not been seen and decide if all was done as the rules intended. (I think the Tax Justice Network recommended that, not forgetting the LNS Decision made in ignorance of DOS ebts.

  17. An Teach Solais on

    Hopefully, now, the Resolutioners and Winning Captain will be allowed the time and space to follow up the EUFA statement without the rest of us clamouring for daily updates.

    Too much information can be used by those trying to suppress, distort, deride or derail the process of surgically dissecting the posturing of the SFA. Persistence will overcome resistance but no leaks to aid the transgressors, please. HH

    I thot it was Collin Stam.

    There have been so many, it’s a wonder anyone can keep track, he will get fed up of that moniker soon and come up with another rip roaring one for us all to fawn over, he will be sussed out within a post or two and resort to whatever he resorts to.
