You live in a land where “Accies against the Act” is a prohibited phrase

288

You will not need me to remind you of an SNP government minister’s desire to “equalise” political chanting in status with criminal acts was one of, if not the primary, motivation for the Offensive Behaviour at Football’ Act.

The Act has been justified at every turn by an insistence that it exists to keep sectarianism and hate away from football games, despite sectarianism and hate chanting being well covered by existing legislation. Yesterday, this presumably shield against hate crime, was used against Hamilton Accies and Celtic fans, holding banners proclaiming “Repeal the Offensive Behaviour Act”. Among other prohibited banner slogans were “Fans not criminals” and “Supporting your team is not a crime”.

I have been appalled at this Act, from the early concepts of the Bill, to its ineffective passage through courts, to this highly Offensive manner it trampled on the Human Rights of Celtic and Hamilton fans to silence political dissent.

You are living in a land where “Accies against the Act” is a prohibited phrase, where both sets of fans, acting in unison, offending no one apart from those in power, are hassled by the police.

Thanks to everyone who donated to my Celtic Foundation fundraising page (still open) for yesterday’s Great Scottish Run, it is enormously appreciated. Well done to the thousands who lined the streets offering support, and on occasion, peeled oranges. Society, a concept we were told was dead in the 80s, is alive and well in Glasgow.

  4. I’m afraid I too find the Ronny Roar cringeworthy. Celebrations of any kind need to be spontaneous. This has become a predictable and stage managed. I think it is important that the team and Manager should acknowledge the Support particularly the away Support. If its a game and a win that calls for a big celebration then its fine to fist pump & roar but doing exactly the same contrived thing game after game is almost taking the mick out of the Support.

He will meet representatives of Celtic and Rangers fans on Friday ahead of the Scottish Cup tie involving the Old Firm clubs on Sunday.

Representatives from both Glasgow clubs will sign up to the venture.”

Having laid a Artificial Pitch..Albeit on a Smaller Scale..It is Not a Exact Science Also its No good spending All that Money on the Best surface if you have a 70 Years old ‘Green Keeper’ looking after it..

And depending on the Surface Below it depends how the Waters runs off..

I’m Not saying that is the Case at Hamilton..But

Interesting Article in the Light of Ronny’s Comments Yesterday..

    Courtesy BBC 16th May 2015

Hamilton Academical announce artificial pitch upgrade

Hamilton are to upgrade their artificial pitch, with the Premiership club convinced the trend for synthetic surfaces will continue to grow.

The New Douglas park pitch will be relaid to “Fifa’s highest standards” as part of a £300,000 overhaul that will also see the floodlights improved.

“The use of artificial surfaces is increasing steadily,” read a statement.

“We anticipate that within three years the majority of SPFL clubs will play on such pitches.”

The announcement follows two notable injuries in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Partick Thistle.

Accies defender Michael Devlin and Partick Thistle forward Ryan Stevenson were both carried off with knee injuries, the former suffering ligament damage and the latter needing surgery to repair a torn cartilage.

Hamilton player-manager Martin Canning admitted the pitch would have been watered had the weather forecast not falsely predicted rain during the game but the club have defended the surface in the wake of criticism.

“It is a condition of SPFL membership that artificial playing surfaces are regularly inspected by independent assessors of which we have had four such visits this season meeting every requirement,” added the Accies statement.

“The last such inspection was last Saturday prior to our game against Partick Thistle, when the inspection established that the playing surface is being maintained by our ground staff to the high standards laid down.

“We are hopeful that the practice of pitch inspection, as required by all clubs with artificial pitches, will be extended to all surfaces in the coming season to ensure that all SPFL pitches meet the same requirements of this testing, which includes level surfaces and conformity of ball performance.

“We are obviously committed to the use of artificial pitches within the SPFL, especially in light of the varied and extreme weather patterns we experience in Scotland.”

Now he’s stuck doing it after every win because if he stops then guaranteed that the MSM and some fans will interpret this as Ronny losing interest, or has lost the dressing room again (once is careless, twice is just unforgivable :O)

It’s the same as my point on referees earlier on the thread , They get allowed to cheat without a thought , as do the BBC , STV , and Clyde who disrespect celtic and there fans consistently . Because they get away with it . No one has ever asked who the bigot is at the top of the pile at the Beeb , STV and those awful radio stations . Sutherlands told what to say , same as McLean and the hibs soup taker were at the cup final a few years ago . Why do you think , Tom boyd doesn’t get a gig , he wouldn’t become a yEs man . There is huge hatred for celtic f.c at these media outlets . Due to continue for the foreseeable future . Like the honest mistakes . Because they go unchallenged

  21. On this day in 2013 our friend St. John Doyle sadly left us, gone on to a better place. He did a lot in life. He fought for what was right, he stood up for you and me. He loved Celtic, he loved CQN.

  22. Remember when the club had the sfa on the ropes so to speak, just after the dougie, dougie thing, and we did, Dr John told them ” Those days are gone ” and I believe he really meant it, he mentioned the ” Dossier ” Paul even mentioned the Dossier.

    Then silence.

    Why ?

I was talking to Auldheid about it last week, and like myself, he had no idea why the silence, the club had the smoking gun, we had in Dr John a man who could have torn them to bits had he wished.

I~we can speculate all we want, but they were there for the taking, a reform at least was on the cards, what happened ?

Was that the “Can lightning strike twice” segment before the “highlights”? Pathetic.

Out of the 94 games between the teams, Celtic have won 72, Hamilton 9 and 13 draws – that’s since the 1906/07 season (which some CQNers will no doubt recall!). I wonder why they didn’t show the 8-0 game Celtic won in season 88/89? They were happy enough to show a 37 year old hun game last week after all.

Awful programme that I think needs to be scrapped.
