CELTIC are on the brink of sealing a season-long loan deal for £8million West Ham forward Albian Ajeti.
Neil Lennon has been pursuing the Swiss international frontman in recent months as he bids to strengthen his squad for the historic 10-in-a-row quest, as CQN reported last week.
The Hoops gaffer, who saw his side beat Ross County 2-0 in a warm-up match at Parkhead yesterday, is poised to land the player who was a team-mate of Mohamed Elyounoussi at Basel.
The champions are in advanced talks with Ajeti and the London outfit to bring the 23-year-old attacker to Glasgow for the new campaign in a switch that could lead to a £5million permanent deal, according to Sky Sports news.
Ajeti is keen to secure first-team action next season and the prospect of Champions League football with Lennon’s side appeals to the youngster.
He was on Lennon’s radar last summer before his £8million transfer to the Hammers from the Swiss outfit.
Ajeti, however, failed to spark at Davie Moyes’ club and made just nine substitute appearances in the Premier League as the team made certain of top-flight football in the new campaign.
Celtic hope to unveil the Swiss ace this week.
