  1. To keep some context

After 60 minutes, I though we had defended well and were controlling the game, despite Andy Walker’s analysis. We hadn’t created enough chances but the game was opening up.

Their 2nd goal was self inflicted. Duffy error, poor defending from Ajer and weak goalkeeping.

What was most alarming was our collapse from that point.

Nor would I but who would you have, realistically?

    Lennon’s after match comments

    “some players low in confidence”

“we were passive in first half”

Doesn’t get any better does it…

  4. We cannot blame neil lennon. He s doing his best. If his best isn’t good enough who is to blame?

    The buck stops with lawwell.

Lawwell will react when he thinks his bonus is under threat.

  5. ONENIGHTINLISBON on 25TH OCTOBER 2020 4:16 PM

Let’s not forget, he’s already said some players don’t want to be here and it’s probably best if they leave.

We can speculate all day about who those players are but what we do know is that these players are still here and still playing.

  6. St Tam’s

You would put Eddie Howe in charge of Celtic against a rapidly improving Rangers team for six months to win ten in a row ?

On what basis ? That he has performed under pressure with hundreds of millions of pounds to spend in the EPL in the pressure cooker of the 11,000 seater Bournemouth stadium? Because he is a good coach ? Track record at the top level ?

Maybe when 10 is won under very difficult circumstances he could make it onto a long list for a change of direction.

Right now ? As in tomorrow? Come on.

  7. lets all do the huddle on

Peter Lawwell should know that he’s next in line for a taxi down the London Road if this is lost.

but you know he will have a huge pay off clause in his contract, probably into the millions

    Beale.

By luck or judgement they’ve won a watch by becoming a nursery for Liverool coaching staff.

  9. Salutary lessons perhaps being learned by those who think getting in ‘finished articles’ is a great strategy for celtic. Duffy cost us that game. At 1-1 we were on top, momentum all ours. He puts that out for a throw or knocks it back to bain to clear we go to win the game in my opinion.

The keystone cops act after we went 3-2 up was a sight to behold. We didn’t deserve to win and I hope the dropped points are a blessing in disguise. The best squad tends to win the league but action is needed pronto.

On the plus side we can now justifiably define ourselves as happy clappers or towel chuckers again. So much nicer than ‘cliques’ and ‘panty wetters’ don’t you think?

    It shouldn’t. He’s only a catspaw.

  11. going from the high of winning 9 twice and our performances prior to the finish last season to the lows of this season , I wonder if we have changed the team personel too much and a few of the team have decided FU and you can reap what you sow.

  12. TOMMY JOAD

I felt the same but this is a case of stats being somewhat misleading.

I’d be confident that any competent manager would comfortably beat all our domestic opponents bar Sevco with our current squad.

We’ve failed and laboured to wins against some very average teams this season. We’re almost a third of the way into the season, Neil has had a chance to turn this around. We’re actually getting worse.

  13. ‘Peter Lawwell should know that he’s next in line for a taxi down the London Road if this is lost.’

How come you left Wee Nicola out of the list of usual suspects?

    —-

Ah yeah, good call – and the pantywetters!! Damn, forgot them too, with their concerns of repeating patterns since the start of the season. Became hard to listen to when the ‘result only matters’ excuse ran its course.

All I have left if pathos and gallows humour now :(

  15. “We were too passive in the first half.” Geez! I am so sick of hearing that, after every game.

  16. “Their 2nd goal was self inflicted. Duffy error, poor defending from Ajer and weak goalkeeping.

What was most alarming was our collapse from that point.”

Would that be the collapse which saw us go into a 3-2 lead?

  17. fourstonecoppi on

I will never give up the 10IAR until the fat lady sings but TBH honest guys…..all good things must come to and end!

  18. Iniquitisov,

I wont come back in November as the league will still be tight but happy to return to the point in May.

No guile, no ideas you say – except for Christie splitting defences with the outside of his boot, Rogic and McGregor interplay for their goal, Rogic sliding in Elyannoussi for the penalty – this performance was nowhere near perfect, but also nothing like last Sunday.

I’d be almost as negative as you, were it not for today and the second half against Milan, but I see it for what it is, so I’m not. Lets get half a dozen first teamers back, win the quadruple treble that NL helped us with and see where we are at New Year?

    TJ

  19. Sloleybhoy – I share your analysis of the game. Stupid challenge from big Ollie aside we were comfortable in the first half, making inroads before and after the equaliser.

Time for steady hands at the tiller.

No panic here. But on another topic……

I said to a pal before the season started that the lack of support would disadvantage using potentially help them. Celtic supporters tend to drive the team on. Theirs get on their backs very quickly. We needed driven on the last few games.

But it is what it is and they need to learn to cope without us being there.

  20. Alasdair MacLean on

I’m no good as a football analyst but Neil Lennon looks a completely different personality at the side of the pitch.

Previous seasons constantly on his feet shouting, articulating and generally taking part.

These last few games just sitting watching, and today showing despair – turning his back, head in hands.

    Something far wrong I’m afraid.

    Or am I wrong?

  21. Just off phone with a Celtic supporting pal in Cwmllynfell (Wales).

He had been on here reading some stuff earlier about the Welsh lockdown.

Following today’s result he just wanted to say that he was highly supportive of Welsh Politicians, since if it hadn’t been for them he would have been drowning his sorrows with broken light-bulbs rather than the lovely bottle of vodka he was now supping!

    Another can. Another kick.

It’s a strategy I guess. Only the timing changes – January, fat lady sings, injured ‘messiah’ returns – anybody recall how poor El Hamed had been or disinterested Eddie has looked or of course how fearty Julien was against the Killie bruiser.

We need at leats a dead cat bounce for the players who aren’t playing for the manager. Then hopefully it can develop into further.

    HH

  23. Our problems go back to Ferencvaros game. When Lennon wouldn’t accept responsibility for defeat and threw the players under the bus. They players are all still there.

    Manager should go tomorrow

  24. Likke away will end a very poor October for us.

    November gives us:-

Aberdeen at Hampden in a SC semi

Sparta Prague at CP for the Europa

    ‘Well away

    Hibs away

    Sparta away

Tough fixtures but I expect a win in the first 4 of them- then we really are into the meat of the season.

Seasons are not lost in August or September, nor are they lost in October and November but as you head towards Christmas you can put yourself in an unlikely position to win, all too easily.

We are not there yet, no matter the level of fear amongst the support.

I expect more resilience to come from this squad. One thing’s for sure, while we are not present in the stadia, only the manager and team can win this for us.

  25. “All good things must come to an end”.

Our first 9 in a row came to an end not because rangers overtook us but because we fell behind them.

We are making the same mistakes all over again.

A couple of years ago our turnover was £104m and sevco’s was £27m.

This is incompetence of universal proportions.

Lawwell should run seminars on how not to run a football club.

  26. HOT SMOKED on 25TH OCTOBER 2020 4:29 PM

Ha! Was going to qualify that point….

Despite our 2 goals, I thought we allowed the game to become too chaotic & open. Fine when we are chasing but we never changed

  27. MoN, Strachan, Mick McCarthy…

Those days have gone. Spending millions on players while going cheap on coaching has cost us dearly.

  28. Tommy Joad,

I have enjoyed your positivity on here today.

If memory serves me well, we used to think it a terrible trait of the Huns that they felt they had a right to win every game. I feel quite a few of our supporters have fallen prey to that superiority complex.

Perhaps dropping points to a last minute equaliser has distorted some people`s views of the reality of the match?

    Cheerio for now.
