Anger at Ange a year on, YouGov on cinch SPFL woes

216

Motor trade publication, AMonline, yesterday reported YouGov’s findings into advertising and brand awareness for the industry for last month.  They show awareness of SPFL sponsor cinch increased to new highs, demonstrating “a greater increase in this metric than any other automotive brand in our database.”

YouGov credit this increase in brand awareness on coverage cinch received due to Newco’s refusal to display the league sponsor’s logo.  The research company noted, “If [Newco’s} aim was to reduce awareness of Cinch’s advertising, our data shows that it clearly has not worked.”

Advertising and sponsorship is expensive, news coverage for your brand is almost impossible to acquire in a positive manner, but cinch find themselves as the innocent pawn in stories across all media.  This level of coverage would be unaffordable if they were to attempt to pay for it.

One year today since Ange Postecoglou was appointed.  He has been an overwhelming success, delivered the league title and brought footballers to Celtic who entertain and excite.

The levels of anger and lack of foresight left on these pages a year ago is not something you will all want to review.  Success comes from hard work, innovation and strategy.  Celtic will not get everything right, they will not win every trophy.  As a community, we have to learn the lesson of what happened a year ago.  A few articles from a year ago:

Howe pantomime ends

Postecoglou only part of the solution

The Poste always delivers

I don’t think you’re wrong in principle fella. The EPL is probably only worth investigating with hours left – too much hoarded talent. I think we are likely to get a couple of loan to buys this summer to help us manage the budget and try before we buy.

I’d expect most in early if we can but should always try to maximise the market to our advantage, especially without the ECL qualifying lottery to contend with.

With anticipation already building for the start of the new season, the champions will begin their preparations very soon with a number of pre-season friendlies in the schedule for the Celts.

Ange and the Bhoys head to Austria for a 10-day camp in early July and at the end of the trip they’ll cross the border to the Czech Republic to face FC Banik Ostrava in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, July 13.

It’s a 6pm (local time) kick-off at the Mestsky Stadion in Ostrava and tickets are available to buy online now for supporters looking to get a glimpse of the Bhoys in action during pre-season.

It’s set to be a great game with Celtic invited to take part in this special anniversary match to mark the Czech first division side’s centenary year celebrations with the Fortuna:Liga club originally founded in 1922.

TICKET INFO FOR FC BANIK OSTRAVA V CELTIC

Tickets for the match are priced 590 CZK which is currently around £20.32* and these tickets are only available to purchase via the link below, with seating blocks C1-C3 currently reserved for the Celtic support.

I hope any signing does well … Ange’s record on the last two windows has been nothing short of magical

But … always a but … I remember many joyous of the Uruguayan international we signed in the not too distant past

But, again the but, Ange has plenty of credit in the Celtic supporters bank :-)

Last day of window transfer deals are not done by design. Often a club will speak to a player’s agent early in the window and be told there are a few options on the go. Then on the final day, the agent contacts the club and says – Ok if you’re still interested, let’s talk.

It’s not a case of Celtic realising it’s getting late and first contacting a club or agent on the final day of the window. A lot of big deals in England get done in the final hours.

Last summer window, Ange brought in 17 new players. Only one was signed on the final day, so not sure what you’re basing your comment on.

  9. Same ole Celtic always signing, and ahead of the game on Adidas Friday, the first day of the open window CCV declares more legitimate intent on the really next in a row.

Carl Starfelt’s injury speeds up the need for another top class centre back.

    He is tiny!

We need tall fullbacks to help take the pressure off the CB’s.

    It’s not rocket science ffs.

  11. GFTB,

Evidence suggests Ange seems to scout well and I’m confident. Players to fit the system.

Evidence suggested that Laxalt was a headless chicken with no end product. Fitted the utter incoherence of the team that season sadly.

    Hope you’re well fella.

    Sorry couldn’t make it!

I do some shopping on a Thursday morning for some neighbours who are older than me, but not as fit.

It’s their only day out during the week..

    Mibbe next time!

  14. My friends in Celtic,

Absolutely fantastic early bit of business.

CCV was my player of the year. Such an important signing in a timely manner.

    HH. We never stopped.

  15. Big Wavy 9.17pm

    All good

I am the first to admit I thought Ange signing players from the J-league was a massive risk .. am delighted to be so so incorrect …

Like yourself I want us to have better players although am still a massive Greg Taylor fan … if Ange thinks he can get a better player am all for it but again I think guys like Tony R and Greg T shouldn’t be dismissed just because they are Scottish …. I think Ange can actually improve the full squad after a decent pre season. And no European fitba till September … which I think is the most important thing for our team this summer

Hope all is good with you as well

  16. Nite all!

Looking forward to a busy weekend in the transfer window.

  29. So glad to be proven totally wrong re CCV signing.

He is quite a poker player. That’s all I will say.

  30. The French have deleted CCTV footage from outside the Stade de France for the Champions League Final.

A Gallic shrug, followed by “No one asked for it, so it was automatically deleted after 7 days.” Huh!

I hope any news channel that has footage makes it available for the inquiry. But already the whiff of whitewash is in the air.
