Anger at Ange a year on, YouGov on cinch SPFL woes

216

Motor trade publication, AMonline, yesterday reported YouGov’s findings into advertising and brand awareness for the industry for last month.  They show awareness of SPFL sponsor cinch increased to new highs, demonstrating “a greater increase in this metric than any other automotive brand in our database.”

YouGov credit this increase in brand awareness on coverage cinch received due to Newco’s refusal to display the league sponsor’s logo.  The research company noted, “If [Newco’s} aim was to reduce awareness of Cinch’s advertising, our data shows that it clearly has not worked.”

Advertising and sponsorship is expensive, news coverage for your brand is almost impossible to acquire in a positive manner, but cinch find themselves as the innocent pawn in stories across all media.  This level of coverage would be unaffordable if they were to attempt to pay for it.

One year today since Ange Postecoglou was appointed.  He has been an overwhelming success, delivered the league title and brought footballers to Celtic who entertain and excite.

The levels of anger and lack of foresight left on these pages a year ago is not something you will all want to review.  Success comes from hard work, innovation and strategy.  Celtic will not get everything right, they will not win every trophy.  As a community, we have to learn the lesson of what happened a year ago.  A few articles from a year ago:

Howe pantomime ends

Postecoglou only part of the solution

The Poste always delivers

“(From previous blog) You might be interested in a book I recently read, Going Postal by Mark Ames, which exams the spate of mass killings in the states since the 1980s. Reagan has a lot to answer for…”

    —————————-

Thank you, but I would find it depressing reading.

There is always a time lag in compiling statistics, but here are the latest available:

By May 15, there had been 246 mass shootings in the U.S. ( 27 in schools ).

By June 6, there had been 33 mass shootings since the unfathomable atrocity in Uvalde, TX.

Mass shootings are so frequent in the U.S. that only the most horrific are reported nationally or internationally. I am certain that only a tiny fraction of the 246 above were reported in the U.K. as that would be around 2 cases per day. At that rate, it just stops being news. People I know who go into stores in D.C., Virginia or Maryland, check where the emergency exits are, and make sure they are in and out in jig time. And I was shocked recently to find out that close friends I have known for over 30 years have enough artillery in their houses to blow to Kingdom Come anyone who invades their homes while they are inside.

  2. America constantly gets asked to choose between its kids and its guns.

It always seems to choose the latter. I don’t see that changing sadly.

The transfer window has been open for over 15 hours, and still we dither.

Think of the savings we’ve made already on the hourly rate of a new LB.

    Big picture csc

In a quiet corner of the internet, a discussion between two Celtic supporters:

    – “Here’s what I think might have happened…”

    – “How do you know that? It’s pure speculation!”

    – “Yip, that’s right. As I said, it’s what I think might have happened. Like everyone else, I haven’t a clue.”

    – “See! Even you admit it.”

  5. Meanwhile, the British Govt. plans to burn ,wait for it,4 billion pounds worth of useless PPE bought during the Pandemic. There will be a few Mansions built in Bucks. this year. The old Etonians filling their boots with the scandalous”Preferred bidding” scandal, that no one wants to mention.

    Yes,Covid was a disaster for many.For others,in the circle,a jackpot.

  6. No problems with Jet 2 flying in and out of Turkey.

    They have full staff.

    Worries ended.Enjoy.

  7. I see the old fav. for the most downbeat poster,St Tams, has left the traps like a rocket.Whinging already,15 hours into the window.

Players, agents, managers all lying drunk on various beaches, but fek that, let’s have a scattergun attack on anyone running Celtic.

    Too stupid to believe.

  8. Wonderful ‘One Year of Ange’ upload from Celtic TV today. It’s funny how you see different things when the pressure is off and the season is over. Hatate’s second in the Glasgow derby…never noticed it before as it’s easy to get swept away by the interplay of Abada and O’Riley but watch big Giakoumakis drag the two centre half’s away from Hatate to give him the time to curl that peach! Secondly, in a somewhat serendipitous moment of what was to come a week later…the last Celtic player to touch the ball when we won the league against Dundee Unt was the gallus Aussie.

  9. It seems needlessly petty to me to be linking past articles in a ‘I told you so’ way.

I mean why not link the articles and comments that were posted after Lennon was appointed full time ?

Anyway, well done Ange. Plenty left to do.

Raynor is chasing Mone over one PPE contract.

Politically I am very happy (love Raynor) but the idea of those two in a fight might do Bada Bing an injury based on his La Ralston obsession 😎

    Too true Paul,

When Neil Lennon was appointed manager 2cnd time around, those of us who said it would all end in tears should be commended for their vision,

I certainly wasn’t one of them, and the following season when he won us the QTRB, I was a cheerleader for all things NFL,

the following season of course it all came crashing down around our ears, I was as shocked as anyone having been sure he was the man for 10IAR,

so apologies to all the guys I laid into for failing to stand by him, still love NFL the man, but never saw as far as 10IAR was concerned that he was simply not up to it.

  12. My reaction to manager appointments:

McNeill – OK, is that good? Lion isn’t he Dad?

    Hay- who is he Dad?

    McNeill – magic

    Brady- WTF?

    Macari – F sake

    Burns- dancer

Jansen- OK, see how it goes

    Venglos- result

Barnes- have you lost your mind?

    O’Neill – ya beauty

    Strachan- great choice

Lennon- have you lost your mind again?

    Deila- we are downsizing

    Rogers- wooooo hooooo

    Lennon- fffffffff sake! Cancelling ST

    Ange- give him a chance

If the UK/Ireland had the same same gun laws as the US; I know for certain I would be dead

The suicide by gun in US is huge. There is no cry for help with a gun. Equates to suicide by train here

  15. IniquitousIV on

O’Riley starts for Denmark U-21, Welsh for Scotland. Scots lead 0-1 after 45 (Kelly ).

My comment was a reply to PB’s post where he mentioned the invisible CEO and new head of recruitment.

I did not mention anything about signing players.

    ——————————

In 2020, the most recent year for which complete data is available, 45,222 people died from gun-related injuries in the U.S., according to the CDC.

54% of that total were suicides. Translates to 24,420 in a year.

So that’s 870 gun deaths a week and 470 gun suicides a week. It is difficult to comprehend the scale of this carnage.

    BADA BING

BOURNESOUPRECIPE should be on soon with a tongue in cheek MSM article on how we labored mightily to get this deal over the line.😊

To be serious for a moment, although I am delighted with this news, and hopeful of similar news on Jota, we should be mindful that it leaves us just where we were. If Jota signs, the good news is that Ange will not have to seek two more replacements, on top of augmenting our existing squad.

Aye … very good .. if that’s the case link all the articles after all the trophies Neil won us

Hope big Ange doesn’t get caught up in all the ole “trust in Ange” posts … pretty sure a few years ago “we were all Neil Lennon” … easy words too type

Delighted big Carter-Vickers has signed and I think Angel has been nothing short of amazing 365 days considering he came to our shores without his family

Covid played a big part in the Huns winning their title no pressure no fans a million mistakes from our club

But if the usual suspects want to take digs at Neil Lennon at least appreciate the success he brought us

In fact …. Even at his lowest point when losing the league if it wasn’t for Neil … we wouldn’t have got Ange

Enjoy the here and now 🍀
