Answering tangential digs at Celtic

570

I see Celtic’s name was dragged by the media into what some low-life vandals did outside Ibrox this week – and a few years ago, for good measure.  There are low-life vandals out there, and we don’t have a way to filter them out of the Celtic support, so I‘d not dispute any of the tangential links, but vandalism like this happens all too often without media coverage.

When stories suddenly appear to be so well framed in the newspapers, you have to wonder why?  Or who is behind them?

There’s a big play underway for what, in this context, should be called Supremacy in Scotland.  Celtic have it right now and no one else is strong enough to eclipse them.  The best way to achieve this is to destabilise the club.  It’s worked, but only to an extent.

I read Paul Larkin on Hail Hail Media this morning who raises some interesting questions on what’s going on and what we should do about it, “as a collective, cannot be beaten”.  It’s hard to argue with.

We’ve got two exciting bits of Magners business for you today………..

First, if you want to win two Premium Seat tickets to the Jock Stein Stand for Sunday’s potential league winning game against Aberdeen, courtesy of main club sponsor, Magners, answer this question about our last 9-in-a-row campaign:

Against which team did Celtic win the first of their 9 consecutive titles, in 1966?

It was a famous game, settled by a famous scorer.  Email the team name IN THE SUBJECT LINE of your message, to celticquicknews@gmail.com

Competition closes at 17:00 TODAY, so you only have a few hours…..

And there’s more……  How do you fancy playing on Celtic Park in 12 days’ time?  Go to Facebook and enter this Magners competition to win a place in the end of season 7s tournament.

You get to grace the place that McGrory, Johnstone, Dalglish and Larsson did their stuff.  Do it.

Now I’ve got you in a good mood.  If you’ve a spare £1 in your metaphorical pocket, go stick it into the CQN Mary’s Meals appeal  Those CQN school kitchens in Malawi feed over 2,000 kids each day.  That’s food needed every day………

Doubt it. If they really want to keep it a deal will be struck. They only need half the Greens to abstain and they could get it through.

My reading on the Nino smith debacle was that he (Nimmo smith) only acted on information received from the dead, they, again the way I read it held certain information back at the time

More than likely. But it’ll take more than Bobby Madden for them to challenge us going forward.

Even wee McInnes is sticking it to them saying they will still be Celtics main threat.

Are you serious? Corbyn is the most clearly left-wing leader Labour have had in a generation.

I watched Blairite Labour candidates moan about the effect he had had on the vote while at the same time receiving tweets about Labour supporters cheering Tory wins that kept SNP out. Until this ‘anyone but SNP’ mentality stops they’ll never recover.

The Tory and SNP increases in vote share directly correlate to Labour’s drop. What does that tell you?

Helluva thunderstorm straight after that game, nothing in comparison to the thunder of the fans in appreciation of a glorious performance.

Jinky was immense. Dixie got the plaudits. Bertie got his last medal and a right good appreciation from us.

Hibs just got a doing. Such a shame we didn’t have a goal in us a few days before.

News that the Labour Party in Scotland has won fewer votes and returned fewer MSPs than the Tory Party seems incongruous.

Stretching across central Scotland, from Greenock to Leith, port to port, the Labour heartlands, there are just 2 Labour-held Holyrood constituencies and one Westminster seat.

I don’t quite know where we go with that, but the collapse in support seems terminal.

Meanwhile, the much-loved OBAF Act now has a Holyrood majority against it, and a promise from Labour’s James Kelly to introduce a private member’s bill at the first opportunity.

Politics is a murky business, but unless there’s some sort of discreditable deal done behind the scenes, it should be Bye Bye to the OBAF Act in early course.

Cue major PR spend from Police Scotland.

    Nah. Didn’t think so.

No-one in Scottish Labour knows where they go from here.

They have a real problem. Their decision that Labour voters will always be Labour voters was like drinking Kool-aid.

“Who else they gonna vote for?”

    Shortest suicide note in history.

  20. Nice to see Nats lose their majority. Polling well down on 2015 GE and on opinion polls too.

No elections coming up to distract the masses. no mandate/chance of another referendum anytime soon.

Time to actually do some governing.

Definitely their high-water mark. The retreat into bitterness begins…

  21. Jerymy Coyburn ,and people like him,are a thing of the past, nobody believes in left wing policies, anymore, and another thing when labour is in power ,the benefits go sky high, then when the Tories get electected, there benefits get cut drastically, so if labour get into power ,which I can’t see it happening, with Corbyn ,McDonnell, and Watson at the helm, they will need to start giving reasonable benefits, not huge amounts of cash,to some who don’t really need it,

  22. ITALIABHOY on 6TH MAY 2016 11:19 AM

Overall vote share went up though, so it’s not like they’ve got less support.

The voting system did what it was designed to do. Glad to see the system of checks and balances back. Outright rule by a single party doesn’t work best for the population.

  29. I kinda think the Scottish Meeja dinny like us.!!!!!

Seriously though, the are supremacists and very similar to the Ku Klux Klan and of course not forgetting Nazi Germany is the 1930’s.

And you’re right, they cannot stomach that we ARE the force of Scottish football, and hopefully always that will remain. But they don’t like it and every trick in the book will be tried to destabilise us. What can we do? Strengthen and win, easy really.

The semi final really was a fluke result and if we played them 10 more times, we’d stuff them 10 times. They just caught us on a real bad day.
