Anywhere but Warsaw

868

My thought on looking at our potential opponents this morning was ‘Anywhere but Warsaw’.  Our man Zbyszek tells me Legia were awful in the first leg in Warsaw against St Pat’s, where they drew 1-1 courtesy of a late goal, but we’ve been there.  Henrik Larsson & Co. drew 0-0 against St Pat’s at Celtic Park before winning 0-2 in the return leg.  St Patrick’s have a big job ahead if they are to progress.

A trip to Ireland on Champions League qualification duty for the second year running would suit Celtic, especially our Irish-based supporters, but my money is on a more testing trip to Poland; Ronny’s pulse should have quickened on the news.

Zbyszek doesn’t reckon have what it takes to eliminate Celtic. All being equal, that may be the case, but summer football will be unpredictable for both clubs.

I am, of course, being completely disrespectful to KR Reykjavik, who we annihilate next week.

I’m talking about the games that are about to appear on the horizon, Legia v Celtic, and, Celtic v Legia.

  2. NatKnow 23:22 I actually agree with Paul67 and think the bhoys will win fairly comfortably next Tuesday. However I continue to be concerned at the lack of a forward who can anticipate and attack all these crosses from the wide areas and do not see anyone in the squad who can do this.

    Natknow,

There are a number of bloggers on here who always come to life when there is a political debate on.

It always amuses me when they get called out or questioned on an ‘on the park’ issue, as it becomes evident they know zilch about football, and , whilst they may have a sympathy towards the hoops, they are not active supporters.

I also suspect that multiple users access one of the ‘blog names’ on here.

Anyway, on Tuesday , I think we will win 4 nil, with one in first half, and I suspect we will play Legia in next round and scrape through.

Also impressed by fact manager hasn’t signed anyone, and hopefully he will do his research on what is required, and who can deliver, before he spends his budget . Contrast this with Mowbray and Barnes, who blew budgets before they saw team play.

Lastly, Friday night is traditionally music night on CQN, so here goes

Cheers mate – I don’t mind a bit of debate (as you probably know) but seeing the same dull, dull messages posted day after day is so boring. I know – I should “scroll on by”, but having been on the blog since about 2005/2006 it actually depresses me to see the “quality” of “debate”.

On Tuesday – thanks for your opinion. I think you may be right about our eventual opponents in the next round. Love to see us score a few goals but not sure if we’re up to full speed yet. Hope so!

Agree on Ronnie’s policy of assessing what we currently have first.

I’d love to but I’m going away on Tuesday and won’t be back in time.

If I was here I’d probably be going to either Poland or Ireland.

  5. I too think we’ll win by 3 or 4 on Tuesday and expect that we’ll meet Legia in the next round.

Certainly hope so dude. Couple of players seemed off form or rusty in the last game. Or perhaps as others have suggested played in the wrong position. Not sure if the lack of attack from our forwards was due to their position/how they were asked to play. Leigh Griffiths seemed to be wasted in his position and Anto Stokes seemed off the boil. That said, we appeared to control the game and the main issue was breaking through a packed defence. Since this is what we need to do every week in the SPL perhaps it was just a bit of practice for us. I did think that we should just give them the ball to allow them to come out.

I cannot believe that. :-) I have been advertising my ticket for 3 days now, now BMCUW has just posted that he has someone interested and now yourself. I’m waiting to see if I get a response to my email, if not, the tickets yours. Ok? No donation required, as long as it’s going to a real Tim. :-))

Hamiltontim, I don’t know if its because we have more on our minds these days with work and family responsibilities rather than the responsibility of remembering the goals we scored in games we went to prior to having a family, mortgages etc.

Both you and Clashcitybhoy are correct in saying we will win by a few goals next week. I agree providing our players get their shooting boots on.

  20. My best Celtic goal.

A sad tale with a nice ending.

In March 2003 my lady wife passed away after a long illness and we gave her a lovely send off, Irish style, safe in the knowledge that she had gone to a better place.

That evening the family and I returned home and, as it happened, the TV had Liverpool playing some team from the east end of Glasgow in the UEFA Cup.

Well, when Big Bad John, who had been my wife’s favourite player, scored that wonderful goal, all the tears were forgotten and we all danced round the room!

I have met him since and thanked him sincerely for bringing some cheer to my family when, god knows, we badly needed it!

    Hail! Hail!

  21. Kilbowie Kelt will vote YES on

    Terrymac,

    Great memory.

I am just a wee bit sorry that your special memory did not include your days of travelling to the games with the Clydebank Emerald out of Cart Street.

    God Bless you.

    Hope you are well.

  22. TSD

Don’t kid yourself. BUK system that shot Malaysian aircraft down costs 1,5 milliard USD. It was a special gift from Putin to pro-Russian terrorists. Given to not familiar with it people. Maybe the answer is at least 45 burials of Russian officers from special forces in the last week who were on holidays, as the independent Russian reports say. Or maybe these two Russian officers, BUK specialists who were cought today morning when trying to run away to Russia will tell more?

  23. Must say I’m getting more and more fed up of CQN. Reading the drivel from TSD and some of his fellow travellers, the whole thing seems pointless. Then just before I turn in for the night being the addict I am, I have a last peep and read a beautiful touching post from Terrymac. God Bless you Sir, I’ll say a wee prayer for your late wife tonight. Funny I remember that goal so well and after the game met and celebrated with a local legend here in Clonmel who was widely known as Tommy Celtic. Tragically poor Tommy was killed about 2 years ago in an accident. Anyways goodnight Timland, its very important that we reclaim this blog for genuine people who just love the Celtic.
