My thought on looking at our potential opponents this morning was ‘Anywhere but Warsaw’. Our man Zbyszek tells me Legia were awful in the first leg in Warsaw against St Pat’s, where they drew 1-1 courtesy of a late goal, but we’ve been there. Henrik Larsson & Co. drew 0-0 against St Pat’s at Celtic Park before winning 0-2 in the return leg. St Patrick’s have a big job ahead if they are to progress.
A trip to Ireland on Champions League qualification duty for the second year running would suit Celtic, especially our Irish-based supporters, but my money is on a more testing trip to Poland; Ronny’s pulse should have quickened on the news.
Zbyszek doesn’t reckon have what it takes to eliminate Celtic. All being equal, that may be the case, but summer football will be unpredictable for both clubs.
I am, of course, being completely disrespectful to KR Reykjavik, who we annihilate next week.

Terrymac
I had split up with my wife at that time and was staying at my sisters and her partners house.
They were all geared up to watch the game but, as much as i wanted to watch the game……i did not feel very sociable and just sat in their kitchen on a barstool watching it on the wee portable.
Bizarrely, although i am pretty philosophical about things(never get crabbit) whether we win or loose……i was somehow, really disappointed by the way we were playing and when BBJ unleashed that shot into the net, i just stepped off that stool, punched the air….and said….about time!
Love seeing that goal and although it was not as poignant a time for myself as it was for you……it always takes me back to that moment.
Bada,
Please explain.
You have shocked me.
Terry is a much respected friend.

I’m starting from the view that you don’t mean it’s sad Catholic parents enrol their family in Scottish denominational primary schools or Celtic dads take their kids to Celtic Park.
Am I correct so far?
I know Bada, I thought the same thing but KK is 100% genuine. It just came out wrong, seems like he knows Terrymac and was trying to rekindle some memories but just didn’t phrase it right. Has happened to me a couple of times. Thats me definitely done for the night. HH
Cliftonville, I just read that on the Scotzine link on newsnow celtic.
I noticed the similarities in the writing style of that comment with a poster on here.
Etims twitter has a picture of the Cliftonville fans showing support for Gaza.
Looks like those going to East Kilbride for the under twenties game tomorrow are in for a soaking going by the BBC weather forecast.
Totally agree that Big Billy’s goal in 1965 was the best and so important……it gave the Celtic babes a lot of confidence and of course Big Jock made the rest happen. EC final with Tommy scoring almost equal.
So many great goals
Sorry, Bada.
Have just re-read Terry’s post & now understand why you feel my response was inappropriate.
I can only apologise for my crass insensitivity.
Thanks, Corkcelt.

BBJ’s screamer is always worth another look.
bawbaws for me.
Goodnight.
Terrymac, great story considering the circumstances.
Our team can give us a lift when we need it but can also kick us where it really hurts at times.

I was referring to politics, not religion although I`m well aware that there is a crossover.
Inevitably parents will tend to impose their religion on their children.I did.
They are now of an age where they can make their own minds up.
Mine have.
My opinion is that integration of schools on a religious basis would be a marvellous thing for Scotland and over time would tend to diminish the religious bigotry which I believe persists.
That includes all religions.

at what point do you feel like chuckin in cqn ?
i like the debates the arguments the football tactics.
i like shared stories of growing up , doesnt matter your school, your toon, lots of similar experiences for everyone.
but,
the racist inputs, jeese oh, at what point does our own absentee landlord, P67, take a stance against a freedom of blogging thats just so bloody damaging to the reputation of this blog.

ive had my fill of event trying to give them a benefit of a doubt.
and then terrymac shares a personal life experience, and thats what cqn should be about.
well that was its culture, maybe not now.
Clashcitybhoy, a crowd of us saw Ranking Roger & Ranking Junior at the Arches last February. They were very good and did their own mix of Rock the Casbah. Unfortunately, its one of the few Clash songs I don’t like.
In the past thirty years its the only Clash song that seems to be played on the radio or in clubs , considering the amount of great tracks they have, that I can’t go it.
When Big Audio Dynamite played the Barras in 1988, it was a cracking gig, Roger was the support act. He was in the Subclub later, wearing a Clash T shirt.

Thanks for your response, everyone’s opinion is valid.
Catholic schools will remain in Scotland for the forseeable future and they’ll continue to be the benchmark standard that HMIE aspire all schools can reach.
Celtic dads will take their kids to Celtic Park.

Rare occasion when you go to solitude and there isn’t a Palestinian Flag (also usually accompanied by a basque flag and more recently have taken to proudly flying a gay pride flag) – remember we were occupied for many years and no one can accuse us of not understanding the complexities of the problem

Mmmm…………Privilege?
I wasn`t referring to standards of education.
Equal rights for madrassas.Naturally.

Celtic dads? Why not.
I hope to take my son at some stage. But that won`t be a political initiative.
the most important thing about schools is that they educate the young pups in the core subjects.
if the parents also want them to read about fairy tails then that is their decision
as long as the young team learn the real stuff
show them some Brian Cox videos

That`s fine.
“if the parents also want them to read about fairy tails then that is their decision”
From my perspective ,they should be learning the different “fairy tales” in the same school.

Ok, I’ll keep going as long as you like.
[Madrassas of Pakistan are Islamic seminaries in Pakistan that teach mostly Islamic subjects leading to graduation as a cleric (maulvi, maulana or mulla).]
Question – What have madrassas to do with Scotland’s Catholic schools?
Guy
If there is freedom of religious education in Scotland, then Madrassas must be allowed to their place.
You may be comfortable with that.I wouldn`t be.
Madrassas have strong associations with ” political ” issues .
Was a great interview with Henke earlier.
I was in Sweden a few years ago and we were told we’d just missed a fantastic interview with him. In Sweden they have/ had a particularly popular radio programme known for it’s in depth interviews and Henke’s was apparently one of the best.
For someone who is clearly a good, good mhan but also at the top of his game in football, he was always an easy target for the scumbags in the meeja. But how worthy of the Celtic Shirt he is!
I say the same without reservation about Lenny, and many other Tims – but I suppose TB and the Maestro will always stick out for me as they helped me through the 90s.
It’s men like these that keep the Celtic ethos in tact. I’m also starting to recall more of John Collins’ goals in the 90s and his midfield work with the Maestro, particularly under the guidance of Tommy.
Every cloud has a silver lining – even then. Despite the huns over-achieving during that period, none of us doubted who the best club was, and for me the heartache was only that my heroes of the 90s didn’t bring more titles home because the huns cheated them out of it.
So go Johnny Collins and Ronny. Looking forward to Tuesday.
Not read a single comment on tonight’s activity but just wanted to say that after viewing the great man, Andreas Bocelli in concert…my God, thank you!

The truth isn’t in history books, it’s passed on from parent to parent.
Attack religious education all you want – but be careful what you wish for, and remember, you might believe you are right only because your own arrogance tells you so.
I loathe these discussions on religious education. I’m an atheist, but thankfully have the sense to see how wrong you are in blaming religion for human failures when religion is the perfect guide to human progession.
Utter stupidity to blame religion for human error.
Macjay, it’s as bad as saying, “If you’ve nothing to hide, you’ve nothing to fear”.
You’re not playing devil’s advocate here, you’ll displaying infuriating and dangerous naievete.

I’m putting you and Hoopy-do forward as the arbiters of Curriculum for Excellence at all Scotland’s prospective Madrassas.
Nothing can go wrong. (although they might get tetchy if you tell them their religion is a fairy-tale so hold that back for a while, guys)
I have just came across ” newsnow” surely Paul67 must look into who is allowed to participate on CQN.
I have been an occasional blogger on this site, and know that I will hardly be missed ,but after tonight I make my leave.HH.

In view of the fact that at least 15 members of my extended family taught in Catholic schools,I feel I can modestly claim that the appointment would be an appropriate one.
I hope you`re not suggesting that there may be intolerance in the Madrassas.
If you`re not careful you`ll be joining the ranks of the racist infiltrators on C.Q.N.
Just,of course,joking.

Mate.I`m not attacking religious education.
I would just prefer school integration.
For all religions.
I well remember racially segregated education in the U.S.of A.
Perhaps that`s what leads me to my opinion.
macjay,
It’s been unpleasant reading here this week, and I respect your intention to play devil’s advocate on political matters, but it feels to me like it is all going too far.
It’s read like a right wing think tank here this week, which is why so many are upset by it, including myself. The blog is dying a slow death due to the airtime given to moronic ill-informed politics, and everyone is tired of trying to reason with or debate it all.
For the sake of CQN, I’d ask you to join me in refraining from politics and sticking to Celtic, or indeed, laughing at the huns.
I don’t doubt you have some great Celtic stories in that befuzzled napper of your’s…:)
4 in a row.
Time for me to sling my hook.
macjay @ 02:37,
Apols, it wasn’t clear, the whole post wasn’t directed at you, just the last part where I addressed you.
Suits you sir :)
I understand why some people think integration is the key to human success in education. Surerly, one of the key things, which I was taught from day one, is the ability to appreciate that I/we/you/ they are not always right. Religious education is as beautiful as culture – it should be warmly embraced, not used an excuse for the lower classes to fight each other while the rich grow richer at the expense of childrens’ lives.
