Ashley could fulfil Tarantino vision

948

Did Dave King honestly say there would be a “forensic investigation” before newco, under his control, would repay Mike Ashley’s £10m loan?  This, before the second tranche of the loan, which the club will need to meet payroll, is paid, and while Ashley could acquire an array of property and IP assets by simply not transferring the money when expected.

Unnecessarily provoking the source of short-term finance your club is dependent on is a bizarre tactic.

If it is indeed “the end” for the current newco board, as King promises, said board have a matter of weeks to secure whatever assets they can for those who have previously invested in the club and provided loans.

The crux of King’s comments are reported as:

“Would we pay [Ashley] immediately, I don’t think so no. We would complete a forensic investigation.

“If David Somers’ indication is correct that there has been some malfeasance then it is possible that the club would have a claim then I would attach the money and make a claim.

“If any individuals behaved improperly then it is important that they are held accountable.”

There’s a scene in Pulp Fiction when an unfortunate predator, “Z”, is informed that some African Americans are about to “Get medieval on his ass”.  We don’t get to see what this means but stay tuned, between now and the EGM, Mike Ashley might just provide a demonstration of what Tarantino had in mind.

Remember, Ashley is not at Ibrox because he fancies being the next David Murray.  He is not interested in the godforsaken world of having to run a football club in Glasgow, he’s happy to allow others to carry this burden.

He may well allow King to ‘win’ the EGM, but the spoils of victory will be very much on his terms.  Trying hard not to imagine Paul Murray in a leather mask now.

Today is World Cancer Day.  This disease has taken too many from the blog already, not to mention millions across the globe.  There is a lot of good news, though.  Progress is being made, but many in the developing world need access to simple preventative treatments, methodologies and information.

The preventative message still needs to get through to a great many in the developing world, before it’s too late.  Here’s a video outlining where the battle is at the moment:

The problem for me is not their singing those songs but the fact that the Authorities ignore it. We used to sing about being up to our knees in Orange blood . We, like them, didn`t mean a word of it.

So it’s a late Easter this year.

Remember the days when my mum used to get us spotlessly clean to go to church for our ashes on Ash Wednesday or as I called it Dirty Heid Day. Used to get a clout round the logs for calling it that but the irony (couldn’t have told you it was irony back then) of getting spotlessly clean to go get ashes on your forehead still makes me laugh.

Can just hear how now – “wash that face properly today for your Ashes or I’ll come in and wash it for you”

If there’s any truth in that, then this may be to ensure NUFC (MASH) are paid and part of what Paul67 has said; Burn through the £10 million before the EGM.

I noticed your post about religion last night and checked the census myself a few years ago.

The last census was 2011. I think the next one will be 2021.

The number of RC’s in Scotland at 2011 was 841,053 15.9% This was up from 803,732 in 2001 but also made up the same percentage of the total population.

The CoS is toiling. Their numbers are dropping like a stone. In Livingston itself there used to be about 6 or 7 CoS churches and they had very good turnouts when I was a kid maybe 300+ each. Now there is one church. Few smaller ones but I don;t think they even get 100 on a Sunday for the whole of Livingston. There are 3 RC churches with numerous sevices in Livingston and they are all well turned out for an array of services on a Sunday and Saturday vigils. It appears that young people are prepared to folow the RC religion going forward but not CoS. Maybe the schools have an influence I suspect they do.

The simple fact is that people are turning their back on religion but more so from Protestant backgrounds that RC ones.

In 2001 the CoS had 2,146,251 42.4% of the population. In 2011 it was down to 1,717,871 32.4%. That is a huge difference in numbers.

At the current rate the RC church will out number the CoS in Scotland in 25 years maybe less.

The biggest rise though is no religion.

    2001

    278,061 27.6%

    2011

    1,941,116 36.7%

Scotland is a changing nation. Most of the people who claim to be Protestants and Christians do not attend church now or mostly ever.

Almost all the non RC friends I have were baptised and have never been back to church and none of their children are baptised.

All of my RC friends may not attend church regularly but all their kids are baptised.

It seems to be a changing world and religion is less important to most but it appears that the CoS is really finding it tougher than anyone else.

Not really a discussion for this site but from a Scotland poit of view it’s interesting how our country is changing religiously an the next census will be interesting again.

Link below gives more on the details and the other faiths since I have focused on the big two in Scotland and the non believers.

Hope that answers your query last night.

Interesting post, I find it quite interesting how there are lots of people in England who give their religion as CofE but who only visit church for births, deaths and marriages.

Only thing astonishing about the ‘revelation’ is that the story has been leaked. On no other basis is it a surprise. I can only hope that they are rubbish.
