After full time on Saturday Celtic fly east to play Shakhter Karagandy in Kazakhstan, which is five hours ahead of UK time, but fortunately kick off on Tuesday is 9pm local time, 4pm in the UK, so the team will not have to adjust body clocks. Such a long flight immediately after a game is not without risk, though.

As a Scotland fan I was a bit gutted tonight that we couldn’t get a better result despite having started the game with low expectations. Shows how WGS is raising expectation. As a Celtic season ticket holder and a Scotland supporters club member I have to say I prefer the way that bigotry does not seem to enter the equation when I’m watching Scotland. My skin crawls when the head of RE at a Catholic school gets referred to as an Orange B…… by some Celtic fans just because he is a referee. My experience is that similar (either side of the divide) does not routinely happen at Scotland games.
I am not old enough to remember Celtic players getting abuse at Scotland games in the 60s. It is appalling that it happened. It doesn’t happen now.
I am old enough to remember going to a glasgow derby on a Celtic bus from castlemilk. A large bunch of bananas was loaded on the bus and the reason was that the Hun had signed a black man called mark Walters. At the game that day bananas were everywhere. It was sickening.
Are Celtic fans today racist – I M O no. Are Scotland fans bigoted. – IMO no. Am I bigoted for referring to RFC pre 2012 as Huns IMO no.
