Attitude for Tynecastle

2311

I watched Hearts batter Pat Fenlon’s Hibs into submission at Easter Road last month.  They are not a good team but they have elbows and commitment, often the key resources in a football game.  With our interest in the League Cup and Europe curtailed, and the league title a sure thing, it is enormously important that we remain in the Scottish Cup into the New Year.

Attitude is the most important attribute for Celtic this weekend.

Things you don’t expect to do when you start blogging: I took four calls from journos yesterday asking if I knew a Celtic fan prepared to go on record as an IRA supporter!  I don’t, for the record, not one, so no one else should bother checking.  Lack of support for that organisation and, where support exists, an awareness that representing yourself as such, is not inconsequential, will explain the dearth.  Just as it’s not inconsequential when you represent your club.  I can’t see many inviting the consequences.

I also got a call yesterday and a faxed copy of a contemporary Celtic View (yes, a fax) from a fan who was beside Jock Stein when he went into the crowd at Annfield that day in 1972.  It was all very cordial, of course, no one argued with Jock.

Jock was at the height of his powers.  Five years from the European Cup win, two from his last final and four months since losing a European Cup semi-final on penalties, he had yet to lose a league as Celtic manager.  His comment in the View, “The Wreckers are chanting about things that have nothing to do with football” was respected, Celtic fans went back to football matters.  But this was 1972.  News from Ireland was despairing.  Rangers fans (and according to newspaper reports, Hearts fans) were chanting “UDA” without censure, Celtic fans eventually retorted.

This is all sooo last century, apart from the consequences, of course.

Sharp focus for Sunday…

  1. A regular poster and CQN veteran comes on and demands that the Nevin interview is ditched or he will never buy another CQN magazine. It’s always the same. Ask people to pay for a product and sure as hell someone will get very precious and throw it back in your face. So he doesn’t like Nevin, so nobody gets to read the interview and see what he has to say.

Did someone on CQN recently post something about “green fascists”?

Aye shady, I’m looking forward to it (apart from the game:_)).

Good to see you’ve settled into the good life, you’ll never look back. I’m hanging around here for a few more years till my kids are set up then I’m oota here too. I’m getting a bit sick of the cold and dark in the winters. I’ll keep my membership up at Carnoustie though and will probably keep a wee bolthole here for some midsummer sclaffbaw.

Jinky, how you doing bro. I thought you’d moved to the moon, or Dunoon. I think my flight gets into Glasgow around 14.00 on the 13th.

Up until now I’ve given no thought about getting across from Glasgow to pick up my car. Aye, I know. WTF was I thinking about booking flights from different airports. A bloody good question I might add.

Should be a good wee trip though. I’m told I’ve to look after auld Pat (BMCUWP’s da) the pyromaniac section 111’r. That’s like putting me in charge of the dram’s and telling me not to drink them:_)

You misheard the stories about me : ive not moved to the moon …. just wired to it :)

2pm on a Friday is a rubbish time to arrive at Glasgow and get across to embra. Your planning stinks mate:(

If it had been a bit later I would have picked and dropped you but I cant get across until about 3:30pm.

Cheaper alternative for transport would be the express bus to buchanan st then the bus to embra airport from town.

I expect a lot of the disagreement about what and who Celtic are comes from educational background of posters, those educated in the protestant schools will be the product of the british propaganda and the acceptance that british/scottish = good, irish = bad this will have been reenforced by the playground peer pressure, i know a few who seem to have made it through only slightly scarred but not many.

Sky news have just read out the club statement on the condolences for the victims of last nights tragedy.

The young girl who plays for the Celtic womens team will need all the support her family and our club can give on the loss of her father.

    It’s heartbreaking watching this unfold.

Re the bus… The glw to buchanan st bus is every 10 mins and £5. Got it a few times and gets you into town quick as a cab.

Just checked the buchanan st to embra airport and its every 30mins so pretty good.

TBJ, no worries pal, and yes my planning or lack of does indeed stink. As long as I get home on time to be able to make my table at Coia’s for the hibs game I’ll be happy enough. If I can get a taxi for fifty from D Dunky’s recommended transporter I’ll settle for that.

Thanks for the offer, much appreciated.

Jinky, my lack of proper planning coupled with an “ach, I’ll get it sorted and it will be awrite” dumbass attitude will be my undoing one day. However, as long as I can get solid info on CQN travel, that day will not be a week on Thursday.
