    Its called trying to cover up for the fact you made a monumental balls up playing a player out of position and in his first game in 2 months at the Nou Camp v Barca. You then compound that by playing a lazy, uninterested ‘enigma’ on the left of midfield in front of said player, who offers no cover and left him up against 2 time and time again.

    Well we have £10m from selling players in the summer. Add this season’s Champions League money – £10m plus.

     

     

    Forget the season book discount and tell fans this will be spent on team – £5m.

     

    A few sales and a few off the wage bill- £10m

     

     

    That gives us the one chance ONLY to do this. To build a team.

     

     

    Other than getting out of Scotand that is the only way – or simply accept we are now cannon fodder. Hurting.

    The team selection started the rot.3 in midfield against the worlds best.Ridiculous.Mathews played at left back,after being out for 8 weeks,,ridiculous.Derk,Pukki,who have done nothing of note since they signed,up front together,against a back 4 like Barcas.Ridiculous.

     

    Keeping Sammi on the park after the first 30 mins,unbelievable.All in all a really successful night for Lenny.If he was looking for the sack!!!!!.Our only weapon against teams of this class is the delivery from free kicks.Lenny leaves out our best two at this.

     

    Felt sorry for some.Should never have been put in this position.Mathews,Biton,especially .

     

    All the talk from now till January will be about who we should sign.We will sign no one of any note.Frees or projects is whatwe are facing.Clubs will not sell their strikers or midfielders in January.All the chances were wasted in the summer when we should have got Finnbogasson,and a decent no 10.We wasted the cash that would have got them.

    I know a young lady who went over to Barca as her 21st present!

     

     

    Well hope she enjoyed her first away euro game experience, they are special and at least she saw a goal.

    Tonight was the result we’ve done well to avoid for years in the CL given the disparity in wealth between us and the likes of Barca.

     

     

    Shame if we don’t use tonight as a platform on which to openly criticise Uefa for allowing a competition to develop which makes teams from smaller countries also rans. What’s the point in sport when there isn’t a level playing field – there is nothing we can ever do to bridge the financial gulf that now exists unless Uefa sort it out.

    Watching the highlights and Mrs Shuggy says “they’re running rings round them”.

    Manager interviewed but should accept responsibility for the quite dire show.

     

    Young Matthews, who should have won a penalty, out of position and not played for 3 months. I would absolve him, the keeper, Virgil and Lustig.

     

    Thought John Collins was excellent in his summary. Hard to go from a cakewalk in the domestic league to the Nou Camp.

    My take on tonight.

     

    1) nothing to lose except £500,000.00 per point

     

    2) poor poor poor team selection

     

    3) team are scared of Barca

     

    4) why not play like we have done over the past 2 weeks

     

    5) as soon as I seen big Fras launch the baw up to Sammi after the 1st 2 mins I knew we were reverting back to the old long baw 50-50 tactics

     

    6) Get it oot yer Heid……..Barca are no friends of ours…. They play reserves last year against Benfica which could have scuppered our hopes of 2nd place and play their best available team against us tonight….with friends like that……

     

    7) too many bottlers in our team

     

    8) Too many hiding

     

    9) what a difference Commons made

     

    10) Lenny….if that was a message to Peter Lawell…..you let a lot of people down

    Agreed Hurting, but

     

     

    We should be doing Much Much better with the signing we do make, particularly for the salaries we pay,

     

    Yes difficult to attract top players, but we still pay better wages than majority of European countries should be signing better.

     

    I really struggle to see what £1.8 million on a project is about ( if true cost), then £2.5million on a winger, I believe we could have got much better even in Scotland, or given our own a run.

     

    That’s what frustrates me tonight.

     

     

    Will still be there shouting us on on Saturday though.

     

     

    PS, for the money we pay Sammi and Joe Ledley, if they have not resigned in next 2 weeks, let them go, use their money on better replacements ?

    late getting in on this, but the hurt is still true.

     

    A few questions…

     

    1- when did we last lose 6-1 in a competitive match?

     

    2- when did a pot 4 side last lose 6-1 in the CL ?

     

    3 – how/who did we decide Matthews was fit?

     

    4- did we have an end of term attitude to tonights game

     

     

    I am Barca fan and watch almost every game, I do not think they will have it as easy again this season, my opinion. We , again in my opinion, looked beaten before we started, almost as if it was a farewell performance for many of the squad….I know the manager must take the blame for this, if true. No idea why I feel so bad when I feared we would lose by at least 3 goals, maybe the manner of the slump.
