  1. Not disgraced, Bhoys fought well second half (as Bayern certainly slowed it down).

That’s CL football. The gap between the top 8 and the rest is immense and UEFA will only widen it in their structure of the competition and their turning a blind eye to dodgy billionaires using clubs as toys/money laundering vehicles.

We are, I suspect, a decent EL level team, a last 16 CL team in a good year, but no more at the moment.

Well done: Paddy, Broonie, Boyatta, Ntcham, Sinclair. Great to see Moussa back.

Finally, Rob McLean must have been wearing lederhosen in the commentary-box. Patronising, gloating, sarcastic and obviously furious that Bayern didn’t keep the foot on the gas. I like BT Sport but this guy is a hurting current, plain and simple.

  2. they did come down a gear but a better second half. moussa has class that, as much as we all love griff, wee leigh does not have. however i’m really concerned we are burning out our young vice captain. Only so many games in those young legs!! hail hail and it’s 0-0 on halloween!!

  3. This is a respectable result but described as a heavy defeat by Richard Gordon in his one line summary on Radio Scotland!

  4. 67Heaven .. CHALLENGING THE LIE ..I am wee Oscar...... Ipox belongs to the creditors on

    Hahahahahaha

    Go tell the Spartim

Fekin’ ridiculous …. so obviously delighted throughout …. sad Hun

I remember the days on here when you weren’t a moaner!

An ave bin oan here fur 10 years!!

    You going to 11/11?

  6. Hard shift for the players, thought they stuck at it and deserved at least a goal.

Definite progress for me particularly the desire to hang in.

Thought the Celtic fans were awesome, great support throughout the game !

They will need the fans on Saturday to keep them going.

  7. glendalystonsils on

I thought Sinclair was in line with the defender at that offside goal…I would have loved a consolation goal.

Most disturbing aspect tonight was losing 3 goals from unchallenged headers. Should never happen.

  8. Ah well it could have been a a lot worst. The Europa league was always the realistic outcome. We’ve an important match on Saturday to think about.

  9. Our team gains more valuable experience in Europe against some of the best players in Europe, it’s nights like tonight that bond the team for games like the Anderlecht Cup Final coming up!

We’ll be in Europe after Christmas and that’s Progres!!

Tough watch anytime seeing Celtic lose but that’s where we are against the so called super clubs no point in losing too much sleep over it we’ve a semi final to win.

    Beaten but unbowed..

    Bring on the Hibs!!!

By the way Bayern no where near as good as PSG in my opinion..

  10. Undone by 3 headers. So WGS was right. We’re genetically inferior – even when we don’t just play Scottish players!

Rob McLean you are one hurting fud!

  11. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Not at all surprised by that. Comfortably beaten by a far better team, although I think we made it easier for them than it should have been, especially first half.

Thought we finished the game reasonably well, although there was probably an element of “job done” from Bayern.

Funnily enough the team that finished was the one I would have started with other than Sinclair (McGregor).

Boyata looks our best outfield player at this level.

Lessons have to be learned going forward.

  12. 67HEAVEN , GO TELL & PHILBHOY

Correct about McClean he sounded very happy ! Hurtin hun indeed !

  13. That guy doing the broadcast on BT seeing only one team. Game ended as expected but thought Celtic did reasonably well second half could have scored. Celtic Park could be interesting return hope Dembele plays from the start. Gordon superb.

  14. Im sure I read on here mclean is a Ross county supporter, the Roy Mcgregor moving on club, though his son is a Celtic fan, I dislike his commentaries anyway as he pauses for no particular reason and gets highly excited when any team is threatening to score or beat Celtic, he was also the sectarian singing guy for the BBc backed up by Nevin.

I didnt expect anything tonight but it seemed in we bits we played decent enough.

  15. embramike says ” Yer team’s deid…Beat it!” on

Still on for Europa League …

    1. PSG 3 3 0 0 12:0 9

    2. Bayern 3 2 0 1 6:3 6

    3. Celtic 3 1 0 2 3:8 3

    4. Anderlecht 3 0 0 3 0:10 0

  16. WE created 3 or 4 good chances, Maybe Bayern eased up a bit but overall I’m not unhappy.

No real Celt is ever happy when Celtic lose but coming out with a lot of macho stuff doesn’t make you an Uber Celt.

We all know the facts of Football Life, it’s not just Celtic plenty of former great Clubs cannot compete with the elite.

The only reason I rejoice when we make the Group Stages is the cash sets the Club up.

These games are love/hate with me, from the start all I wanted is 3rd place in the Group, that is still on.

  17. Philbhoy

That was in a parallel universe. I’ve always been a moaner in wanting better for the manager and the team.

Especially so when club coining it in from CL and from fans.

I will be there to celebrate Poppy Day. Hope we are planning two minutes silence.

really enjoyed the last twenty minutes; overall I’m with TET – if we can get any quality in, in key positions to help us in the cl , we should.

  19. In CL there’s now about 8 teams who are on a different level than everyone else and will consistently beat, usually heavily, everyone else and will compete in quarter finals (unless they draw each other in last 16). This season we were unlucky to get two of those teams in our group. It’s hard to watch at times but will make us stronger, and if/when we get into EL knock out stages we’ll be a stronger team for it.

Gordon and Boyata the picks, we need a reliable CH beside Dedryck ( although I thought Lustig did well tonight), and a midfield that can keep possession. Ntcham with experience may be the answer and Rogic should start every CL game.

  20. According to John Hartson , Bayern took their foot off the grass!

Gamboa taking heavy flak on TV, but Kingsley Coman could roast most right backs.

As Hugh McIlvanny once wrote, you lose, you accept that the opposition were good, and you take the very next opportunity to show that you, too, are good at your game. I’m confident that that is what we will do.

    We move on.

    Bring on Saturday.

  21. The mindset changed with the subs and was a noticeable improvement.

    Craig Gordon was excellent tonight.

    Brown and Bhoyata best outfielders.

I don’t like our playing out from the back it is not well set out.

Il ike the idea but there has to be better outlets to make it work.

To many of our forwards and midfielders are to acclimatised to receiving ball facing their own goal and immediately returning it to where it came from.On numerous occasions a simple turn of the head would have shown them acres of space to attack.

I thought Forrests direct style was better suited for the wide areas than Paddy’s.

I think Timreaper suggested Paddy with the 10 role would be more effective has merit.

In games like this with the striker isolated Dembele is the better choice over Griff.

The mindset of coaches and players needs to improve if we are to compete at this level.

We are to psychologically negative in Europe.

  22. Won a few bob tonight, had Chelsea won would have won even more, had Basel drawn I would be stinking rich, so near but yet so feckin far, tis a mugs game right enough :-)

  23. BIG JOE on 18TH OCTOBER 2017 9:46 PM

Complain to the BBC about a BT commentator?

    How does that work?

  24. In summary , poor 1st half, better 2nd although Bayern probably should have had a few more.Having said that we should have had a couple.

Craig Gordon was excellent , Gamboa, much maligned by the shocking commentary of McLean did well against an electric winger.

Lustig is lacking pace now, much as I love him.

    Boyata did fine.

Always going to be a struggle with the quality we were up against , especially with a patched up back 4

    Onwards and upwards

    HH

  25. Always going to be up against it but surely we can make it harder for these teams? Gordon saved a few, kick outs embarassing.Rogic’s workrate questionable for me, didn’t look interested.

  26. sorry to disagree with most posters but ML is never and never will be a centre back, no positional sense or body strength to play there.

  27. Go tell the Spartim on

Knob McLean and the rest of his shortbread cronies wouldn’t be anywhere near European football if it wasn’t for us, something they’ll forget just like the clubs will do with the European windfall courtesy of us.

Ffs sign a defender, why the naysayers and accountants will ask, we can’t compete against the big boys is their mantra. Maybe by signing a decent defender it might, just might, keep us in games for longer and the longer it goes the bigger the doubt in teams minds, REGARDLESS of who they are

  28. starry plough,

I’ve signed up for another go @ the skiing next March. I hope to do a bit better. :)

It will be very interesting to see the Bayern PSG game in the Allianz.

I’m sure Bayern will beat them…. perhaps not by 3, howevaaaaaah it could be 4 or 5.

  29. I think my over all feeling at the moment is relief. Just hope we do ourselves justice in the next 2 games.

I thought the subs all did well.

    As for the support, brilliant.
