Reality…we were beaten by a much better team
Reality… we can still play European football after Xmas
Reality… we will win the league
What’s not to like
Celtic looked beaten from the off. Overawed. Same as the PSG game. Passes going astray, unforced errors, stuff like that, which just shouldn’t happen. Not sure what can be done about it.
Ernie,
lurking all night til you see a comment you can make a smart arse reply to ?
I visited Alliance stadium with my son last June when he played in Bavaria for his youth team.
During the guided tour the woman fielded questions..I asked a few financial questions.
One of the interesting responses was that companies commit for 5 years to corporate deal at 1.5m / year. Top season tickets are 30k and areva 3 year commitment. They budget on quarter final of CL.
My rough estimation was that they START every season with €300m. Knowing they have 3-5 years certainty.
This is what we are up against.

We could sign Barcelona or Real Madrid.
You back at work tonight?
Demented with BT and BBC. Turned over to sky and some guy called Julian is asking Charlie Nicholas if Brendan Rodgers really wants to finish 3rd and be in the Europa League. Is it where he wants to be? How long can Celtic keep him? I mean wtf.
PETEC
You might be right:))
I’m not a gambling man but I doubt Bayern will take four or five off of PSG:))
Skiing, enjoy yerself, never really got my head round it.
Snowboarded a few times, way too auld noo:))

No. I’ve been watching the game. Came on here when it finished.
The comment was meant to be a joke.
Agreed though about McLean, He spoils the BT coverage. I’m hoping if he keeps it up Sutton will lamp him.
Not read back since half time and not going to. I had no expectations for tonight. Just hoping we would not be humiliated.
There is a gulf in class between Pot 1 and Pot 4 teams. If we qualify for Europa League, I will view that as progrès

Finally, Rob McLean must have been wearing lederhosen in the commentary-box. Patronising, gloating, sarcastic and obviously furious that Bayern didn’t keep the foot on the gas. I like BT Sport but this guy is a hurting current, plain and simple.
COULD NOT AGREE MORE I AM MORE ANGRY AT THIS BASTIRT THAN I AM THE TEAM AN UTTER DUSGRACE OF A COMMENTARY AND ALL CELYIC FANS SHOULD BOMBARD BT SPORT TO MAKE SURE HE NEVER EVER COMMENTATES ON OUR GAME AGAIN A BBVC HUN OF THE HIGHEST ORDER FECK HIM
” We’re all captains in hindsight ”
Brendan Rodgers
Honest summation from Brendan.
Good mhan!
hope all the bhoys through unscathed and ready for Saturday
HH
do we have a dedicated defensive first team coach?
Ernie
If you have ever played sport at any level other that watching it on the tv, you will realise that when you are up against players of a higher level you will struggle big time, but as I doubt you have played sport at a decent level you won’t know what I am on about and will make a snyde remark in return.
We are where we are, not good enough right enough.

According to John Hartson , Bayern took their foot off the grass!
Gamboa taking heavy flak on TV, but Kingsley Coman could roast most right backs.
As Hugh McIlvanny once wrote, you lose, you accept that the opposition were good, and you take the very next opportunity to show that you, too, are good at your game. I’m confident that that is what we will do.
We move on.
Bring on Saturday.
…………………………………………………………………………………………
Broonie done a really good interview after the game.
Celtic host this Bayern team again soon.
We will do alright, on that night.
John was talking pish. Hopefully, he Learns from that as well.

Bayern are a far better team. But that doesn’t explain unforced errors. They happen when the mindset’s not right.
Players said about MON that he made them think they were better players than they were. That element seems to be missing. The self belief.
Ernie,
not like you to make a joke
We were beaten by a better team.
The Bhoys didn’t give up, they kept going & were unlucky not to get on the score sheet.
Fans in Munich were brilliant, Fans on CQN, well everyone sees it different.
I see a team in with a great chance of European Football after Christmas, I see a team going for 60 domestic unbeaten games in a row.
In short I see a very good team, not perfect by a long shot but very good and one I am proud and privileged to support.
Anyhow I’m done for the night, so Good Night & God Bless All.
Great result for the Qarabaghians.
3 goals Big Billy would not have lost.
However, to sign a centre half of the quality of Billy McNeill at today’s prices, about £30,000,000, just outside our price range.

Not accepting defeat D , just that these games terrify me due to the massive step up in opposition , and hoping that we can hopefully compete when the team gathers more experience . Third place offers the chance to increase experience , while adding co efficient points . Btw …… 2 minute silence ! ! ;-)))
THE EXILED TIM on 18TH OCTOBER 2017 10:02 PM
That game was like a rerun of the PSG game.
Same issue with being half beaten before the kick off.
It’s a problem and denying or ignoring does not make you a better Celtic fan.
first half gordon kicks the ball down the centre, griff no chance. second half dembele
comes on and gordon kicks the ball out to the wings!! why?
ERNIE LYNCH
Inexperienced Celtic team playing against a team who pressed us all over the park, no that many of the errors were unforced, what was disappointing was all three goals, very poor goals where our defending looked third rate..
Spot on …..ridiculous display of hatred by mclean, born out of bigotry
Hartson is thick..everytime he opens his mouth he confirms it…
Classic case of Dunning Kruger…

Parking the bus against the bigger teams seems to be the way to go to get the best result for us this year. What if Brendan is looking to the future? Could he be looking to develop a team used to playing an attacking game against the likes of BM and PSG? Also, would we have taken 3 off Anderlecht if we hadn’t practised an attacking formation against high level opposition in our first CL game?
No shame in defeat against a team with that much of a financial advantage over us but not laying a glove on them does hurt a bit. Our players are along way short of their quality, there’s no shame in that, but I was hoping for a bit more from our manager
I hope our players can deal with another blow to their personal and collective pride. That many games unbeaten domestically and still it’s a hugely challenging job for Brendan
CELTIC CHAMPS ELECT

Starry Plough,
Snow boarding is a lot harder than skiing ffs. ;)

Ernie,
It is a mentality thing playing these Mega Clubs/Players.
Paddy was so up for it when it really mattered.
Another Baden Baden night in Germany.
Frankfurt its all over.
Hope we don’t suffer a Euro Hanover against Hibs. If we give ourselves a Schalke, we should be Bremen with confidence again.
Hoffenheim have I wondered why we were so Mainz. We might be Dresden the return leg and lamenting the Darmstadts of our previous record. But if there are any huns gloating we should tell them to Greuther Furth or start praying to St. Pauli.
What? Too Soon? csc
Evening all from a wet Costa del Sol.
Just back in from the pub.
The TV volume was set low so i missed Rob McLean’s commentary. Lucky me by all accounts?
Wee bit disappointed. Too passive again. If we merged MON’s aggression with Brendan’s philosophy on ball retention we could take games to the top teams.
In reality, the top five ‘fancied’ teams in Europe are Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Bayern and Man City.
We’ve had two of these five in our group in successive seasons.
Makes the job of gradually improving the confidence of the players much harder.
Onwards and upwards. Keep the faith.
Hail hail
Fortunately Brendan’s one of us and it’s not in our dna to quit and take the easy route

Whoever he supports he sucks the life out of any Celtic game he commentates on.
I suppose that’s how you get to the top in Scotland.
Perspective
In recent seasons at home in the CL, Bayern have scored 4 v PSV and Olympiacos, 5 v Arsenal and D Zagreb, 6 v Porto, 7 v Shakhtar.
