Best of luck Brendan and thanks for the trebles

914

If I’m being magnanimous, Brendan made no secret of the fact that he wanted to return to the English Premier League.  When he was here, he won everything available to him domestically and proved that you can please all of the people all of the time.  We want managers to be ambitious, honest and successful and that’s what we got.

It rankles that his timing was so poor, a day before we visit Tynecastle on league duty and five days before we visit Easter Road in the Cup.  Brendan saw little compensation in Moussa Dembele’s success here, or ambition, when he engineered his exit at a bad time for the manager, the same is true now.  Celtic knew nothing of this before yesterday and have a major job on their hands to ensure the quest for the treble treble remains on course.

Neil Lennon is likely to be announced as interim manager.  We are fortunate to have as an experienced hand available.  If anyone knows how to take a Celtic team to Edinburgh, it’s Neil.  Plans for next season will continue in the background, but Neil will be asked to deliver the treble and nothing will be allowed to distract him or the players from that objective.

I have heard from a few CQN’ers who are surprised today, but we should know better.  This is football, managers and players are highly paid professionals, all the badge thumping in the world does not change that.  Exceptions are rare.

Best of luck to you, Brendan, and thanks for the trebles.  You could have held out for better than Leicester, but there’s every chance you’ll keep them in the division for many years.

Arzani is a big hero to our ethnic bhoys, and the wizard is loved

by all Aussies, so it’s a big upset for the whole Celtic demograph.

Still puzzled by Br’s timing of this.

Time for shafters, clappers and all in between to shelve their differences & pull together.

I just know the travelling Support will be stupendous tomorrow night,

So just win tomorrow Celtic & put joy in our hearts,

    Goodnight & God Bless All

  3. That old hackneyed cliché, beloved of football writers, for once seems appropriate when summing up Brendan Rodgers time at Celtic.

    He flattered to deceive.

  4. Very proud of our supports reaction today.

Times like this make us all reflect on what really matters to us as supporters.

Defeat we can handle, mistakes similarly particularly from one of our own but treachery, greed and deceit have never sat well with the Celtic support.

No interest in BR’s reasons or future CV, totally focussed on Celtic tomorrow night.

    100% here for ? in a row

Maybe the situation Rodgers found himself in wasn’t entirely of his own making but his response to it was, and was wrong.

  6. MACJAY1 FOR NEIL LENNON

It certainly has been a while.

In time of adversity, somehow the thousands of ads invading the page don’t seem as nightmarish… :D

    In complete agreement.

    First time ever ?

Ha ha ha… sorry, I’m a serial malcontent. But in times of adversity, we pull together. It’s what family does. I can’t put into words the anger I feel toward Rodgers, and looking at it objectively? He’s been backed to the hilt. We have a frightening sized wage bill, we pushed the boat out for Rodgers time and time again.

As you’ll know, I’m not a fan of the board (Or multi millionaires in general, but that’s a different diatribe) but I don’t think their actions can be described as anything other than backing the manager to the point that I’ve been feeling queasy at the wage bill. And if I’m honest? The performances do not *in any way* reflect the size of our outgoings.

Seems like unison amongst the CQN support .

I really hope so. What we don’t need is self sabotage. Let’s circle the wagons.

Shoulder to shoulder for Lenny .

Amen to that! Agreement again! :)

BTW Lenny`s European results were , from memory , much better than Brendan`s .

That the were. And on a far smaller budget too.

Is it too early to ask if Brendan has taken Lee Congerton with him? Given he’s tried to empty the rest of the coaching staff out with him, it only seem fair? I know…. I’m going to hell.

Purely from people management experiences . Best employees jump ship when they are promised something and then let down.

    Trusting your supervisor is paramount.

If PL let brendan down more than once or maybe a recent disagreement then B brendan says I am left with no option but to leave. PL carpark door stepping interview earlier tonight said to me he was astounded of forehead.

If he survives this then he is defacto the emperor.

    Global shock.

Just spoken to mates in Glasgow and Hong Kong.

    The timing.

Lenny had an article a couple of days ago about why he left Celtic.

In the light of subsequent events , no coincidence .

    It was being planned then.

  9. The Greater Good is regarded as the opposite of Man Mind Thyself. There was no evidence of this integrity today. I don’t know the politics behind the scenes but Brendan’ timing is hard to take and a slap on the face to the fans. I know the bhoys will get behind Neil. His record with Hibs against Sevco was excellent, and even better against the miniHuns, so that bodes well. The Hibees gave us doing on our last visit. So, onwards and upwards!

    That`s right.

The love of Celtic shines through .

We Celtic supporters frequently disagree , but that disagreement is founded on what each of us considers to be in the best interests of OUR Celtic.

    aka Healthy debate.

Hail Hail , my fellow Tim .

Fact is though, when I’ve gone to Celtic Park, Hampden, Murrayfield, Dens, Rugby Park, you name it, I’ve gone to support Celtic – not Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic, not Ronny Deila’s Celtic, not Neil Lennon’s Celtic – just Celtic. That will never change.

*When John Francis Kelly was Chief of Staff at the WH he supposedly said to one of the staff “who do you work for”, the response was “president trump” to which he replied “Well I work for America and so do you and don’t forget that”.

In like manner I support Celtic no matter who the CEO, board members, manager and players are.

  12. Suddenly it makes sense that Liverpool supporters don’t have good word to say about Brendan. Hope he enjoyes his 5 minutes at leicester, we know how this ends.

  15. Paul67, apart from the nonsense article – Celtic knew nothing

I am sick fed up with this google advert, I’ve won £500 or a iPhone or Samsu, had it about 20 times today, have to log out and back in to get rid

Now Catman, thanks for clearing up the situation on Gary Parker

Let’s all hope Roy Keane is also not being considered for any role in the summer

  17. Thanks BSR! So…. Davies, Kolo, Nayler, Naughton & Congerton (fingerscrossedcsc)?

On the upside, a fresh backroom team may well see a reduction in our laughably long injury list and at least we might get a manager that can recognise a decent defender in the transfer window…
