Biton and the holding position

678

I was discussing Beram Kayal during the week, specifically how he was keeping Victor Wanyama out of the Celtic team before that ‘tackle’ from Rangers’ McCulloch put him out of action for months.  The player has never recovered his form but has never had a sustained run in the team either.

Nir Biton has made the holding position his own in recent weeks and, as a consequence, we’ve watched his form improve.  News that he picked up an injury when playing for Israel against Slovakia last week, which is likely to disrupt his appearances for weeks, has come at the worst possible time.  If he is to make this position his own, he needs performances between now and the end of the season.

Young players especially need games to reinforce their craft and build confidence, as well as to ensure fitness.

Just less than 24 hours until the Friday noon deadline for bids on bottle No. 1 of a limited edition (291 in total) of Craigallachie Telford’s Bridge, in a wooden box and presentation cardboard tube, whit an authentication certificate. The current highest bid stands at an incredible £425.

Bids are by email only to auction@celticquicknews.co.uk. This is a rare and valuable bottle. Shipping within UK and Ireland is included. Please include contact details and your bid amount.

Many thanks to everyone who donated to Mary’s Meals via the MyDonate link. We are closing in on funding the second school kitchen, at St Joseph’s Primary School in Kasungu, Malawi. Incredible response, treat yourself if you are one of the donors. You can get involved here.

Seville, The Celtic Movement, launches tomorrow (rumours suggest I might get my hands on mine today).

“”Claire, where is my passport?” I was frantic now as I pleaded with my wife. She must know I thought. Claire, my wife of twelve years, suffers my trips away to support Celtic without a single moan. Not this time though as Claire would not give me her blessing to go on this trip telling me that our bakery was now at critical point, busy and with too many European away days this year they had taken their toll.”

No reason to dispute what you say.Terror was part of the agenda pre-Stalin

My understanding is that Stalin took it to a new level and that Stalin was the last person Lenin wanted to succeed him.

Stalin also eliminated every and any potential threat to his leadership.

These included much milder and much more popular men.

Compare the compassion and decency of Tony Benn with the selfishness and greed of the contemporary political leeches that we have today. My God, what a loss.

    Telegraph.

“The Committee of Privileges ruled against Benn, and on April 13 1961 he stood at the Bar of the House to hear himself expelled. Backed by a mass petition from Bristol , he fought an electrifying by-election. Malcolm Muggeridge and Lord Lambton spoke for him; Sir Winston Churchill gave support. ”

So mr king has arrived to rescue sevco…….someone needs to tell him that, if he doesn’t buy over 50% of the shares, he can forget it……and the current owners will simply liquidate the assets, fill their pockets and walk away ……. And he doesn’t have much time to decide, since the £1.5m is dwindling rapidly :)…..that’s why he arrived yesterday……and when is the UTT due, since BDO action will follow….!!!!!!!!

  16. Only last night, I was bemoaning the lack of passion and integrity in modern politics. In Tony Benn, you couldn’t find a greater contrast to the vacuous political muzak drip-fed daily to the British public. He combined great intellect with heartfelt conviction – a rare combination! No doubt I’ll listen to some of his speeches today to remind myself what a great politician sounds like.

  21. I was very fortunate to see Tony Benn a few times, the final time being last year, when at the age of 87 he captivated a lunch time audiance at a packed Royal Concert Hall.

Although frail, his recollections and anecdotes from the past 70 years were as vivid as ever.

The love of his life had died a few years before, and with it went a spark. He told the audiance that he was a shy man, and that was why it took him 9 days to propose after meeting his wife.

Anthony Wegwood Benn, the 2nd Viscount Stansgate, renouced it all, to fight for those that had no voice. He was a very rare breed, a man of wit and great intellect a conviction politician . RIP Tony you will be sadly missed.
