Biton influence on central mid

768

It wasn’t just the result, which was enormously satisfying, but the manner of Celtic’s performance yesterday was equally gratifying.  We passed with speed and precision, creating space between what was often two blocks of five defenders.  Hearts were in a sorry state but despite enduring the consequences of being unable to pay their dues, they remain considerably more resourceful than many of the lower league teams which have caused Celtic problems in cup competitions in recent seasons.

We finally got to see what the fuss over Nir Biton was all about.  He brought control, time and space to the play.  In particular I liked the way he tried to retain possession.  Hope we see more of him in the weeks to come.

While most attention was drawn to the striker position following defeat to Milan last week, central midfield, bereft of recent departures, the injured and suspended, was just as under-resourced.  The opportunity is there for Biton to grab a place for himself, just as Victor did a couple of years ago.

Worth replaying that coverage of the old hun rebs at their jamboree. P Murray makes it very clear that they need to and expect to get control of Scottish football again

They’ve never lost control. Not with the likes of Ogilvie and the entire Scottish media propoganda machine behind them.

  2. Have to say the Bejing in Bonnybridge is as good as any Chinese restuarants around ?

Don’t listen to Clyde, except in car on way home from work.

BFDJ, I spoke to Danny McGrain a couple of months ago, good to see he’s still involved with the youths at Celtic.( BFDJ words)

I was under the impression he was a first team coach, I see him on our pitch at most home games doing warm up with players, and in our dug out

I thought he was supposed to be a football pundit, doesn’t know much about the SPFL champions then ?

Ryecatcher- remember that newbie with the daft Alice band – his first pass went straight to Chick Charnley of Hibs who promptly scored- wonder what became of the Ole Band

I fear you are tying yourself in knots there.

For me it is simple. Old Rangers and New rangers were 2 of the 5 parties with the SFA, SPL and SFL to cheat the existing rule book and perpetrate a fraud. They made a secret agreement and the other clubs who belonged to the various organisations were not consulted in drafting the terms of this deal, if you believe Peter Lawwell.

Therefore, both the old club and the new club cheated us and every other club. Until they separate themselves from the 5 way agreement and a claim for unbroken history, I cannot accept them as an innocent new football club.

Ach well – for what it’s worth

Yesterday was a joy – a complete joy

We played serious football, fluid, slick and positive- wonderful to watch

I’ve been around a long time and I am aware of the ‘spin’ of the ‘young Hearts’ but that is one of he most accomplished displays I have seen – 1969 Cup Final anyone?

    Hail hail

  9. Re Mr Davidson……

Played with Lanarkshire Schools select – Watched his son (goalkeeper) Barnie get a gig at centre half cos he wis a goalie but couldn’t move the guy gettin the position as he was P**h in goals.

Helped by Mr Watson (yes you of Braidhurst fame) OB

    SFA influence at its best

Watson went on to have a good position at SFA

As a quick aside when that travesty of a man Davidson sent Jinky off agin Aberdeen I was 15 and had to be restrained from entering the field of play – I lost it completely – first time I ever swore in front of an adult member of my family.

Davidson put a mark on my soul – a creature of hate and bigotry

To my mind the likes of Dallas and Gollum are only wax dolls of Davidson of Airdrie

  11. the reason the chaps on SSB said they switched the celtic game off is the same reason Scottish fitba has stayed in the doldrums for the last 30+ years. Class, slick , pacey and stylish football will just not do in this country …………..since its celtic playing the barca way playing the 67 celtic way.

form is fickle , class is constant!

and SSB you have no class!

Actually I’d totally forgot that both incarnations were party to the 5-way agreement. You’re correct. Of course it also adds weight to them being separate entities. As does agreeing to take on the punishments of a separate team in order to obtain a licence to play.

  13. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

The Celtic support missed an open goal last May, when they turned up in droves for the Cup Final.

They gave the SFA and Ogilvie a massive vote of confidence.

Perhaps if they would liaise with other supporter groups, e.g. Aberdeen, and build alliances, instead of antagonism, the SFA could be brought to heel.

Just home from the hospital where the son had undergone 3hr operation on his inner ear .

Everything went well and the surgeon told us there will be only slight hearing loss which is good as he was destined to lose the lot.

Anyway many thanks to all the afternoon bhoys who posted their best wishes and offered prayers today when I told the blog where I was

You know things are ok when you find yourself on the orders of your “starving” son wandering about the Falls rd looking for a chippy that sells chicken goujons (good old Raffos) then sneaking into the hospital with said takeaway hoping no big ward sister is going to catch on to the smell.

After his clandestine feast his joy was soon ended when he found out there was no wifi available

added to that there where no cards left in order to operate the bedside TV; all he was left with was the good old fashioned hospital wireless and as that involved the wearing of earphones over his very substantial head bandages this was a no no .God love ,like many of his generation he’s a loss as what to with himself til morning divest of his electronic gadgets

Home tomorrow (hopefully) where his Mammy is already preparing to spoil him rotten.

    Go raibh agaibh aris

Biton had a decent game, after he setteled down. Nothing special, lets not build our hopes up yet. Give him a run of games and see how he performs.

Tony Stokes had a good few moves, but as Auldheid says he had three players screaming for a pass and he took a shot. A poor shot. Would Hooper have shot, don’t think so.

I Live in South Yorkshire and go to most Sheffield United home matches, when Stokes was here, in the championship, I think he scored one goal in seventeen matches.

Sunderland then loaned him out to C Palace. I don’t think he pulled up any trees there….

The fans down here in Sheffield thought he was very poor.

As a matter of fact they thought him and Craig Beattie who also played for S United were very poor.

Being a Celtic man I took some ribbing for that.
