It wasn’t just the result, which was enormously satisfying, but the manner of Celtic’s performance yesterday was equally gratifying. We passed with speed and precision, creating space between what was often two blocks of five defenders. Hearts were in a sorry state but despite enduring the consequences of being unable to pay their dues, they remain considerably more resourceful than many of the lower league teams which have caused Celtic problems in cup competitions in recent seasons.
We finally got to see what the fuss over Nir Biton was all about. He brought control, time and space to the play. In particular I liked the way he tried to retain possession. Hope we see more of him in the weeks to come.
While most attention was drawn to the striker position following defeat to Milan last week, central midfield, bereft of recent departures, the injured and suspended, was just as under-resourced. The opportunity is there for Biton to grab a place for himself, just as Victor did a couple of years ago.

No need to explain. I was taken aback at first but I realise Bada meant nothing by it. I was too quick to jump in.
The Original Sadies Bhoy
Bada Bing was a firefighter in the east end of Glasgow for 30 years, in fact he attended
the building collapse in Sringfield Rd. No way he would be disrespectfull to events on
Friday night.
Right why is our club allowing this ?
We run a tight ship so this lot can liquidate shed debts and keep history and add honours to old titles ?

Och Auldheid, you’ve gone and burst my bubble. Of course Article 15 will prevail and Celtic FC will say nothing. Let’s skelp Sevco or even better let someone else do it so we don’t have to play them one minute before it’s absolutely necessary to do so.
====================
In the interests of clarity Celtic would have no right to intervene or say anything. UEFA however would be presented with a dilemma.
Did Izzy have something thrown at him yesterday as he btook a throw in?
Ernie
Could hardly believe he would say that.
I’ve now considered my position. I hope Dundee United or some other team drown them in a torrent of goals before they ever get near the final and EUFA don’t have to exercise their brains and make a decision.

It was unfortunate but I’m sure it was unintentional.
Springhill.
Yup a lighter. You’ll not read anything about it in the media though.
( didn’t even know he smoked :) )
theoriginalsadiesbhoy-oh dear.Apologies, and can see where it might have been picked up in a different way.As VP has said it’s a running joke about a chopper bike.
Deko-cheers mate,will fone you tomorrow.HH
Incidentally, it hit him on the head!
!bada bing!
No need to apologise to me. Let’s forget about this. A complete misunderstanding. Cheers.
Hail! Hail!
Canamalar, Auldheid
Off course they would lose the final. Its all about survival revenue while protecting their own asses.
Watch our brainless meek part if our support, the bigotted ones turn out in their droves at Ibrox paying over the top prices. Old Firm fans
Now why was Kenny Miller chosen for the QF draw coincidence ?
Does he have a gripe with PL and Celtic ?
We should run a sweep for who will do the draw for the Semis ?
An EBT beneficiary perhaps.
HH
Ernie
I know, and give him the benefit of the doubt. He should have engaged the brain on national tv though.

Sorry to hear that. If your CQN Annual doesn’t show up tomorrow we will replace it – can you email me – david@CQNMagazine.com

Good on ye ghuys.hh
Evening CQN,
received the new ole CQN annual today – think it took a fortnight or so, FWIW.
Have been waiting with dread for the seemingly inevitable sevco v Celtic SC tie all season.
Couldn’t find a bookie to take the bet in August.
Cynical enough to think some balls were de-warmed after yesterday’s 7-0.
I hardly ever attend games at CP, and mostly stay in lurk mode when the blog topic turns to matters arising from attendance at games.
But if I have been thinking ‘this’ for ages, I guess it must have occurred to yourselves also at some point.
Quite simply, the SMSM, SkySports and hurting huns everywhere are aching to re-assemble the constituent parts of ye aulde firme.
But the unique features of this entertainment product are dependent on passionate, full football grounds. All those cliche’d library pictures of half green, half blue grounds/stands that the Guardian and the like love to cut’n’paste onto their webpages.
So if enough of those seats were empty at those ‘ye aulde firme’ games – folk had bought their tickets but had no intention of attending, had in fact bought their ticket to Guarantee the seat remained empty – would the whole ole concept wither and wilt?
In plainer english, will there be a sizeable amount of CP season-ticket holders who consistently won’t attend any future games against Bjorn Again?
I’d like to see Tanner the Spanner spluttering excitedly about that.
Apologies if this is a bit out there – I blame the Cheech’n’Chong clips BMCUWP has been posting…
Awe_Naw..,
If we get there, then as TET said they’d still qualify even if we hammered them.
And I agree about the old firm support, which is why I suggested we start discussing bhoycott now, create the discussion and get people thinking about it, Thomthetim was big on this course of action.
Tootingtim.
As you know, I went to the last ever old firm at cp. we buried them that day. Never again will I attend a game against a zombie outfit. My seat will be empty.
I want them out well before the final. Can you imagine the carnage to our stadium including section 111 arising from a 50% allocation to sevco?
If that means taking them down before then, so be it.
HH
Auldheid @ 19:15,
Excellent imformative post.
“The three years applies ONLY to the ength of membership of the SFA. If after 3 years they have at that time ONE set of accounts ratified at an AGM…..”
As the SFA transffered Rangers membership to Newco, surely if they qualify in Sporting merit, Newco would argue that the SFA membership is continuous.
Hail Hail
theoriginalsadiesbhoy-no bother mate.Thoughts and prayers with all involved at The Clutha, including ex colleagues .HH
Winning captain.
Mine arrived in the post on Thursday. More than a week after it was ordered so all is not lost.
A cracking read by the way. Oozes quality. If anybody hasn’t ordered yet get your skates on.
Chairbhoy,
If its continuous then they should be banned for not producing accounts for the last three years is it ?
If it came to pass and we were drawn to play them and we as a fanbase decided to boycott it, would we offer to give the gate money to charity in the same way the comedy club did against dufc ? We could give it to the same charity that benefitted enormously from their fantastic gesture.. believe its based in a large chateau in the north of france somewhere….
Tootingtim
I posted earlier that I would be out on the Golf course if we drew sevco, on the day of the match. I will be in the ground for the Dons game. Looking forward to a good cup tie.
Earl “The Pearl” Strickland is being hyped up on Sky.
He is a right baw bag .
1-0 Europe.

St Patricks day 1956
Surely McCluskey due a mention.
Aye, another good servant of the Masonic SFA. There is that many who fit the bill, you could go on all night about them. But karma is a wonderful thing, hell mend them.
Not being a mineshafter , but……..
Nir Biton’s first three passes yesterday went straight to an opponent.(was still sober enough to observe closely at this point)
He came on to a decent game after this,I believe.
Nowhere near our best player yesterday.
Anto Stokes in my honest opinion was that player.
Celtic best performance this season CQN talk about Sevco. Suppose the hoops will need to get beat for this site to talk about the hoops.
Celtic park will be full when we have to okay then.
Canamalar
If wr win the SPL and qaulify for the CL does it not go to SPL league placings ?
HH
Celtic park will be full when we have to play them.

Stokes was pretty poor yesterday and yet I agree with you about Biton opinions and booze :o)
See the professionals on SSB were at it again tonight commenting on yesterday’s game..
Guidi “I turned it off after 10 minutes” while Delahunt “I made it to about an hour”.
God, how is anyone supposed to take these idiots seriously? Wonder just why they chose to turn off….after all after 10 mins score was only 0-1.
Right, oldco license transferred to a new a club…..so, if a player is transferred to a new club, does that mean he’s transferring to the same club…….mmmmmmmm…..silly phuns for silly bhuns
Ryecatcher
Nir seemed nervous to begin with, but settled into a great game. Anthony’s movement was good. Big Mik was my MOTM.

Well he managed to stay awake for the entire dire newco game and report on it!
