Biton influence on central mid

768

It wasn’t just the result, which was enormously satisfying, but the manner of Celtic’s performance yesterday was equally gratifying.  We passed with speed and precision, creating space between what was often two blocks of five defenders.  Hearts were in a sorry state but despite enduring the consequences of being unable to pay their dues, they remain considerably more resourceful than many of the lower league teams which have caused Celtic problems in cup competitions in recent seasons.

We finally got to see what the fuss over Nir Biton was all about.  He brought control, time and space to the play.  In particular I liked the way he tried to retain possession.  Hope we see more of him in the weeks to come.

While most attention was drawn to the striker position following defeat to Milan last week, central midfield, bereft of recent departures, the injured and suspended, was just as under-resourced.  The opportunity is there for Biton to grab a place for himself, just as Victor did a couple of years ago.

“I fear you are tying yourself in knots there. For me it is simple. Old Rangers and New rangers were 2 of the 5 parties with the SFA, SPL and SFL to cheat the existing rule book and perpetrate a fraud.”

Well it’s easy to tye yourself in knots over this, however you hit the nail on the head, the 5-way agreement is where the double dealing took place, we don’t know the contents of this secret document, suffice to say what we do know is unsettling to say the least.

It’s like the changing room that Mr Benn visited, Sevco went in looking like Sevco and come out all kitted up pretending to be Rangers.

    Weeminger said….

“What I’m getting at is that by holding them guilty for the sins of Rangers Football Club we are legitimising the connection. Something we’re all hell-bent on challenging.”

Well this is one aspect of the “pretense” and for me the 5 way agreement isn’t been challenged nearly hard enough, if it’s not challenged successfully the great Footballing Swindle(c)P67 will succeed.

  2. Blog seems to be a wee lacking by contributions from ‘occasional ‘ and ‘new posters’ now that the furor regarding the GB banner has simmered down a wee bit. I admit to having been somewhat taken aback by the vitriol aimed at a section of our support by fellow supporters, allegedly, on thesite. It would be naivety in the extreme to imagine that all of the Celtic support held the same political views or even had any sympathy at all for the views espoused by the GB and others within the support. However some of the hand wringing, how dare they, my club, revisionist nonsense aimed at the GB and anyone who had the temerity to mention that the Celtic support has always had an section with Irish nationalist sympathies was beyond the pale.

I may be wrong but In my relatively short time posting on CQN, 2-3 years, I have noted an ever increasing bias against those who chose to question the board, or indeed any group that is anything other than politically centre right. I used to enjoy the banter between some posters and on occasion used to join in however I now seem to be posting mainly ‘in anger’ which is never a good platform from which to try and hold a rational debate. I even found myself agreeing in part with Winning captains take on the GB’s ‘unofficial’ view of CQN that it is in the main populated by soup taking, prawn sandwich munching, board supporting conformists. A very large brush stroke portrayal I know and many on here are far removed from that description, apologies to those.

I will now sadly join the ranks of other malcontents and lurk occasionally on a site I really used to look forward to reading and contributing to, albeit admitedly in a very poor fashion. ‘Good riddance’ I hear some say, ‘Suas Do Chul’ say i

” I have noted an ever increasing bias against those who chose to question the board, or indeed any group that is anything other than politically centre right”

Agree with that statement. It won’t really help if good ghuys like yourself take to lurking, so don’t! Anyway, I know you (in a sense). No way you’ll be able to sit it out as a lurker. Ye’ll be thinking “the b****** are not getting away with saying that” so ye’ll be compelled to post.

On a serious note, there is definitely an apathy on CQN amongst some of the more “established” posters, and a lot have drifted away. When I first ever came on CQN, I used to love reading Winningemmell’s stories. I remember MWD was a regular. Many more. Too many to name actually. I only just mentioned the Greenlion the other day. Hardly ever on now.

Not that anyone has any more right to be here than anyone else regardless of age, or length of “membership”, and the more new posters the better, but hopefully not at the cost of others being driven away through apathy.

Your own posts are some of the first I look for every morning. Always thought provoking, often just provoking! I’d miss them, as I am sure would others.

So, more posts and less lurks please.

Of course in some cases, folks are busy and have no time, but I know of a few who miss the old CQN.

  4. Oglach –

You criticise the board supporters for aiming vitriol at the board critics, but the insults fly in both directions.

Of course it is a natural human trait to only see the insults flying in one direction, predicated on whichever side of the fence one is on.

You’re not the first and won’t be the last to fall into that trap.

  5. EBT Ogilvie giving another nod to TheRangersLie by saying it’s possible for the two teams to meet AGAIN for the first time in a few years in a cup competition.

Are all these Rangers/Sevco utterances for the benefit of CelticFC’s board to acknowledge TheTributeAct as the old club when, and if, the two clubs meet?

When, and if, the two clubs meet, the board will have to grow a pair when commentating on the fixture in the in house magazine.

If they don’t, and they toe the SFL party line, they know they’ll get it with both barrels from our support.

Not a great start to the morning when listening to his witterings being broadcast over the airwaves first thing.

Sadly I agree. I wouldn’t say I was a malcontent but the lack of a ‘big story’ has led the blog to become more of a chat room and as such I feel like an outsider.

My own posts were few and far between as I usually had only an hour in the morning to peruse the contributions and I limited my comments to those matters that I had a grasp on, which, it has to be said was very little.

We have lost some great posters whose insights I certainly miss.

There are a prepoderance of clappers on here, both footie and politics wise and I concur that some of a different persuasion need to dig in if the blog is to retain the diversity which helps make it a first stop…

I admit to despising our msm but it seems they are as bad down south, or maybe not quite, as the English press generally dont suck up to one club (company?).

  10. I shall not,nae never, watch Celtic play against a team that doesn’t exist in my eyes. I’ll never get into Bed with them. There are so many people that have come on here and vilified them, but the same people will be the first too break rank and put mega money into their coffers by attending one of those hate games, why, if your hate them so much would you attempt to keep the vermin alive, by paying money to watch them. Nae never again.

Your summation of posters on the blog does not take account of those who are Celtic daft and are tiresome of reading the same old conflicts between the same old suspects who either try to ‘educate’ or bully no matter what the agenda e.g.Amsterdam,GB,flares,Affiliation to Ireland or not,The Board to name but a few. One of the most important functions the blog serves is to provide Tim’s with accurate information ,as it is not forthcoming from MSM ,regarding Celtic and Scottish Football. What we then get is bloggers feeding us keech from the very same channels,(DR,Clyde,Huns websites etc.) that most of us avoid like the plague!

So,I do not believe it is apathy for those that post infrequently ,or have stopped , I think it is more to do with relevance of agenda.(and results like Milan)

I hope not, Blackburn Rovers, signed him in 2008 and let him go in 2011 without playing one game for them, in that time he went out on loan to 4 or 5 clubs until he reached Dundee Utd.

What troubles me most is that a team in the south side of Glasgow are also interested in signing him,If a 1st division club are interested why would ,we, a Premier League team, be in competition with them.

Got to agree with you, found the last few days tiresome with debate and slagging, was reading and not posting. I always found any Celtic supporter I’ve met personally over the year’s had more or less the same thoughts and feelings of myself…. just Celtic daft and wanting to talk Celtic.

Not that I’m saying folks on here aren’t, but there’s debate and there’s debate which switches me off.

Suppose that’s the idea I dont need to read, but we’re all Celtic men, aren’t we…..?

  22. My girlfriend doesn`t follow football. She was aware that Rangers went out of business. She was surprised and confused that, according to the MSSM ,they still existed. She took a temporary interest in the situation. She concluded: If Celtic ever play this reincarnation, no Celtic supporters should go.

That is the view of a disinterested party. Interesting.
