Bizarre fantasy-rant from Miller

1206

Someone forwarded me the statement from US based Bill Miller which I read and ignored, thinking it was a wind-up.  Incredibly, it’s ““Real””.

Bill tells us he will invest £11.2m into the club and:

“There is no way that Ticketus would agree to accept a “pence on the pound.

“It is apparent that there will be several lawsuits that will emerge in relation to a potential CVA exit.

“In order to preserve the club’s history, records, championships and assets, I will put the “heart” of the club into an “incubator” company while Duff & Phelps works to make the “sick patient” healthy through a CVA process that effectively works to “radiate” the toxicity of past administrations’ sins out of the patient while the “healthy heart” is preserved and moves forward.”

The above is an actual quote.  I’m not even sure the pubs are open in America at this time of day.

But Bill, the “sick patient” owns the stadium, and as you suggest, a CVA would be prolonged.  Craig Whyte owns security over the stadium and your refusal to deal with him might make playing there…. awkward.  Any creditor, like HMRC or Whyte, could and perhaps would challenge a disposal of assets like the one you suggest.

He goes on:

“Any suggestion that Rangers history is lost by such a process is preposterous.

“Using such logic, Rangers would not actually have a 140-year history as its current corporate structure was only created in 1899. To suggest that Rangers thus have only a 113-year-old history is absurd.”

We’ve explained this one before.  Rangers were incorporated 113 years ago; “Real”.  The same entity, owning the same assets, existed pre-incorporation as an unincorporated football club.

Buying and selling history is almost as entertaining as buying the Eiffel Tower in cash off a guy in a Bellshill pub.  If it’s possible, I demand Celtic PLC get off their bums and buy the history of ancient Greece.

Bill adds:

“My offer is contingent upon the regulatory bodies agreeing that the club will begin play in the 2012/13 season in the SPL and that they will do so without any loss of points and with all historic titles intact.”

Ah, “contingent upon”.  A condition; just what Duff and Phelps asked to be excluded.  You’ve underplayed this one, Bill.  If the SPL will agree to this they will surely agree to give you a 10 point bonus next season, just for being so nice.

“The time for talk is over. The club is in serious jeopardy of dying. “Real” [sic]liquidation is looming.”

I like this guy.  He sounds like a “Real” level headed custodian for Rangers. Alas, I fear Duff and Phelps will be in sombre mood when next we hear from them.

Fire in the belly – yes! I feel no embarrassment when Neil gets tore into refs – this man has nothing but Celtic’s cause in his heart. Taking it on the chin is not an option. Take a ban or a warning here and there – so what? Cards were marked this week I think.

Tactics – yes, Neil has made mistakes, but eh has also shown himself to be flexible and to be thoughtful regarding the opposition, and in Europe I think he did very well tactically and we were let down mostly by individual player errors. Against the Fertz I agree we played the wrong formation; however that was not the sole major factor in our defeat. I’m suire you’ve read the tictactic.uk site for much better analysis on Neil’s flexibility and willingness to diverge from the MON model which was much less flexible and asked more of certain players.

Motivation: I think this is the “big match” question, more so than tactics. In particular in games we’re expected to win: fertz, Kilmarnock, ICT in league, perhaps Ross Co (v early in NL’s career so I’m prepared to forgive it). To be honest, this is what surprises me most about Neil’s teams, that they sometimes seem so slow to start a game – is he struggling to communicate his passion to the players? Having met him a few times,. I find that hard to believe – at 11pm I’d’ve run 20 miles for him because I liked him so much. Jock had a tactic of hammering a team from the kick-off because they weren’t expecting it; His teams very often led before 20 mins, and rarely had to win from behind (a game v Inter Milan being a notable exception…where they stuck to their game plan confident that it would prevail; not unlike a current Barcelona team; I would like to hear what Pep G has to say about Jock…I bet it’s more than most people assume).

We’ve always been in agreement on the main things.

    Goodnight and god bless

  3. one for the desperate huns (like my wife, bless her; she came home tonight and asked me, “what;s happening with the Rangers?”,

so I gave her my usual answer, “do you want to know what the news says or do you want to know what my sites say?”

“what do you think you and your sites know?”

    “yis are fcked on Monday”

    “Really?”

“Yes. As fcked as you were 2 months ago, except your administrators have pocketed the wages your players sacrificed.”

    “Poor Ally.”

Apologies to a percentage of the readership here, but really, women don’t engage with football properly (ie, the way men do).

I have met NL and found to him to be a very affable person.

He is a true Celtic hero of mine.

Neil’s tactics last week did not work and he made

    strange substitutions.

    Not for the first time.

    Well said.

However in the context of the game

    Neil’s actions were unbecoming of

    a Celtic manager.

  11. tarrant on 21 April, 2012 at 01:08

    Good comment.

Neil Lennon is relatively young as a coach so we should not really expect upwards of 75% successes, even if the playing field is level, which it is not yet.

  12. Think Neil ran across the pitch to question the ref before he had a chance to bolt to his room and get his story right (or wrong possibly).

    =]====================================

Short answer: It’s what I’d’ve done. Good for Neil. I’m sure he felt we had been denied a chance of extra time by a clearly unfair series of decisions. I don;t condemn his actions at all.

I don;t give a flying shyte what Jim Traynor or Roge Baillie or whoever has to say about our manager – their opinion does not influence me.

Actually, what I’ve said is too clumsy for your question.

Neil’s actions will be reported in a certain way. What these morons say does sadly influence other people – possibly some tools in Ayrshire with batteries and internet access and moneyh for stamps. Should the Celtic manager modify his behavoiur to avoid threat to his life from morons? Yes, of course he should., because he snarls at referees. Gies peace.

A more cynical view might suggest he was enginerring a ref controversy to distract from his poor tactical decisions. I agree with you that he is a very astute and intelligent man, far more than his detractors admit or allow, so I understand that view; in the circumstances I think it was an emotional reaction.

A highly cynical view would suggest that Neil is trying to engineer a ban thnat will see him miss the effectivelyt meaningless (to Celtic’s league position) games before the season end.

Should a manager be less emotional / “more professional”? Does it make him a better or worse manager? I look back at MON taking Neil by the shoulder and walking him up to the Celtic end after that horrible game at Ibrox and still wonder to what extent that was emotional and instinctive vs deliberate and strategic. If Neil is using MON as a touchstone, then I think we would all be foolish to second-guess him.

I’ve outlined my expectations of Lenny a few times –

    2012 SPL

    2013 double

    2014 treble

    2015 progress in Europe

Any progress in Europe a bonus. SPL a must.

I wish he had not run on to the pitch for his sake. He has the capacity and opportunity to exercise great sarcasm. I’d prefer he praised ridiculous decisions in an ironic fashion post match. He’d be making his point that way. He’d be exempt from punishment, we’d be amused and commentators would be baffled and terrified.

    RE Neil Lennon,

I have to admit when he first took over from Mowbray I thought we would go backwards even further. I didnt think he was the right choice at the time due to his inexperience.

There was though a slight feeling of that hope we all get being Celtic fans of the dream.

I am so glad I was wrong!

Neil Lennon can do no wrong in my eyes now. He says the things I want to say to the authorities that are so corrupt. He bleeds Celtic like I and all of us do.

He will, hopefully be the modern day Stein.

  16. tarrant

Neil was wrong to run on the pitch after

    the game.

He is our manager and the embodiment of Celtic

and that is not the way we do things.

  17. CultsBhoy

yeah I know what you mean, there are other ways of showing your disapproval, but I think with Neil it’s not his nature.

Maybe it’s naivete; maybe it’s insecurity – he’s trying to show solidarity with the fans because he knows it’s another failure to win a “big game” ; maybe there are other things going on behind the scenes with the SFA, with refereeing generally or specifically that ref, and he’s making a big deal of it; maybe it’s connected with the hearing last week.

The last thing I would do with Neil Lennon is underrate his intelligence.

  18. James Edward McGrory 408 goals in 408 league games,

The way he went on to the pitch last week was Affirmation of what you have just said.

We will go and stand and face them, and we will beat them because they are bullies and cowards who rely on lies and deception.

NEIL FRANCIS LENNON – Stood them down, he has bitch slapped them, the verdicts prove this.

I was not around when Jock was running Celtic but he would be mightily impressed by the courage and the fortitude that Neil has shown.

  19. Cultsbhoy

You are planning much further ahead

    than the rest of us.

I’m confident we will win league championships

for the next 10 years and the rest.

  20. The H\o/ly St\o/ne \o/f Cl\o/nrichert is Neil Lenn\o/n on

I think its fair to say that you should walk a mile in a man’s shoes before making such a statement.

  21. BABASONICOS71 on

When Neil went ontio the pitch last Sunday he done nothing embarassing, disgraceful, disreputable or whatever. He’s an emotive, fiery person. Most of our managers (well the good ones anyway) have been.Anything he does is demonised and made to look sinister. The accusations about his behaviour are ludicrous considering where most of them eminate.

Neil has enough enemies and detractors only too willing to put the boot in,there’s no need for our own to swell those numbers.

    100% backing Neil Francis Lennon!

I have to agree with Gordon64 on the point of running onto the pitch. Thats what we would like to do but he has to remember his actions will reflect negetaviley on us and that is exactly what the succulent lambers are hoping for, any form of attacking us and by doing things like that he is playing into the corrupted hands of the lodge dwellers.

    Stein wouldnt havnt done it.

What he has to learn is how to be clever in venting his frustration. What I mean by that is, I like how he goes into the pundit area of SKY after games and gets his points across, calmly, intelligently and is able to to get the truth across. I have never seen a manger do that before.

He is still learning though and I can only see him improving in both his conduct and management ;)

    heres to season 12/13
