Car salesman called in game of poker

366

The cabal failed.  Through their point man in the Highlands they thought had the numbers the null and void the entire league season.  Poker was the game of their choice and they intimated they had documented evidence of wrongdoing at the SPFL in their hand.  Neil Doncaster and Rod McKenzie must go!

Fortified, the SPFL called their bluff.  ‘We call you, show us your hand!’  There was no response.  It was pitiful.  Still, today, they call for an investigation.  Produce your evidence or, respectfully, shut your greetin’ face.  There is no evidence, but they cannot say that.  Consequently, they have left fans disillusioned, paranoid and bitter, not a demographic you would want to build an empire on.  All this when they need to queue to buy tissues from the supermarket.

For the record, Celtic have been significantly stressed throughout this period.  We held no aces; but if I were to list those I would never play poker against, Peter Lawwell would be in top spot.

We are not in the business of offering a job to an exec at a Championship club if he could provide a vote.  But we could offer experience, sincerity and assuredness.  This proved to be enough while the car salesman was ranting about Private Eye.

Now Ann Budge is to head up a working party to look into league reconstruction, I think we all know how well it will be run.  In her statement this morning, Ann is still expressing anger – at others, not at those who contrived to leave Hearts four points adrift of the third best supported team in the third largest town in Lanarkshire.

All the angst you witnessed since yesterday is all about stopping Celtic winning the league in the only way possible – by ensuring no one can win the league.  We would still prefer to complete the season on the park, but that will not happen.

This will be a memorable season in our Celtic supporting lives.  You have a tale to tell to future generations.  There is not a championship winning game to discuss, just a beautiful asterisk.  Own the asterisk; tell people that as the floodlights went out across Europe, we stood 13 points clear.  Tell them our asterisk denotes sporting performance, not cheating player registration.

This has been a sweet one.

  1. As much as the voting process doesn’t look good, it was important that the SPFL held firm against the hun coordinated attack.

As for Peter’s poker skills, perhaps he should have ‘bought in’ to the Resolution 12 game.

Nobody really comes out of this with any credit. It was the least worst option.

  2. I woke up this morning convinced Sevco would unleash a ‘senior’ QC.

It appears the best they could do was to take Stevey G out of his hiding hole for a soft interview with his mates.

They’re beat. On the pitch and off it. They’ve nothing.

  3. Another beautiful day here in North Staffordshire.

The decision reached yesterday was about one thing. Releasing prize money to the lower league clubs. As a consequence it has set a precedent of no Null and void and no money without the premier league being called.

  4. Here we go ten in a row. Can’t wait to watch it on the big screen, especially wit Broonie and the bhoys getting a rest. It’s magic you know we going for ten in a row. Hail hail. Stay safe in your bubbles.

  5. Jacinda says be kind. When we get acknowledged as 13 points 25 goals clear winners, go out and hug a Hun.

  6. About Phil’s article on the win against Leeds – a fantastic night only to be followed by the biggest disappointment in my football supporting life which spans 60 years.

Not looking forward to 6th May

No QC would put their name to that mob, it would be reputation shredding.

  8. Paul. I like your asterix patter ;-)))

I get your spotlight on Budge and the chronic falling of Hertz on the park. I still don’t think 4 points adrift with 24 possible points still to win is justification for relegation.

I won’t be disappointed if she gets a reconstruction of the league. Just saying. HH

Dessybhoy 8.18am . From previous thread.

My memory might be wrong in but the LNS enquiry the wee tax case & big tax case weren’t thrown in together.

The wee tax case wasn’t included in the evidence provided to LNS .

That’s why he declared no sporting advantage as no one had been found guilty of tax avoidance/ evasion with EBT’s at the time.

The internet bampot s knew different.

Sir Moonbeams Murray had lost the wee tax case when HMRC produced in court , the side letters to Flo & De Boer .

The side letters were part of the DOS scheme .

Only an ill informed, stupid or hate filled Orc would ever call this season’s title tainted.

Top post regarding herd immunity. Thanks.

  9. To the Sevco squad frothing at the mouth, direct your anger to th epeople that run your team. The pin up manager who has flopped spectacularly. The criminal chairman who has taken your club to the brink and then disappeared over the horizon.

Your team got left off lightly. You could have been battered in two more games against the champions and finished 20 plus points behind. You could be spending a summer watching clips of Celtic parading their FOURTH treble.

The last few years have taught us how gullible this lot are, but this is new depths ,even for them.

  10. No idea why some Celtic fans are discussing the goings on of the past week. The club has played a blinder here.Said their piece early. All we have had since are the Bigots, their henchmen in the Media, and ugly ex players, mumping and whinging, about alleged wrong doings. They have not provided any evidence, but shamefully, persist in casting snide comments,on anything pertaining to the vote. Why are we listening to them.We have played this by the book,as have the SPFL.The vote has been won, fairly and squarely. No other way to do it.

We will be announced as champions next week, and as much as I will take great joy in securing the 9,their pain and tears will be just as satisfying.GIRFUT.HAIL HAIL.

  11. This saves face for Sevco and Gerrard. They can always claim that they would have won the League. It was a possibility, about as likely as Trump winning Mastermind, nevertheless………

I am not happy about this whole finishing early stuff and personally it is not same feeling winning in these circumstances, but it is what it is.

Given the present situation we find ourselves, it actually doesn’t seem that important at all.

I have full confidence that, if we keep our finances solid, we will win not only next season, but for the foreseeable future. The wee asterisk will be a story for our grandchildren to discuss in years to come.

I see the huns have gone from – No one likes us we don’t care.. to..

Everybody hates us Naebuddy likes us

Ah think we’ll go and eat WURRUMS!

  13. The huns to keep the rage going,to hide how bad they’ve been, and try to sell season tickets at same time, a difficult task to be fair 😆

  14. I guess they get air cover for going into Admin and for losing the greatest young manager on the planet Stevie Gee….

A snarling return of Alex McLeish next season and a 39 year old premiership hasbeen brought in awaits….

Loving their pain and their cries “this isn’t over yet…” to no avail.

  15. The Battered Bunnet on

As I understand it, if you sell season tickets without a realistic prospect of being able to play fixtures, you can’t use the money – it’s deferred income owed to the purchaser, and to whom the money is owed unti/unless games are played.

We don’t know when a new season might start, or spectators will be permitted to go to games thereafter, or how many teams will be in what league, or even how many clubs will survive the financial carnage and be able to filed a team at all.

Selling season tickets means putting the cash in escrow until there’s certainty of all of the above. Clubs can’t use the money from season tickets to fund their costs unless there is a season of fixtures in the first place.

  16. Tim Malone Will Tell on

Good article Paul 67 – we do indeed owe thanks to Dundee for their ultimate integrity but have uncovered a new partner in the “axis of evil” i.e. ICT.

For the record, I always have preferred Ross County.

Cracking post on the previous thread by The Battered Bunnet explaining his take on herd immunity – well worth reposting on this thread to ensure most get the chance to read it. I would suggest that TBB reposts it himself…

Many seem to be taking the ‘asterisk’ lightly but I am not one of them. A ninth title ,honestly won , is asterisked while the EBT titles are not?

That would stick in my craw.

If Newco have a no refund policy would that not allow them to use the money? Not that anything is likely to stop them anyway.

  19. Celtic will need to do their sums and come up with a very different ST plan that includes thousands of fans paying by direct debit schemes, for an unknown league programme beginning nobody knows when.

Rock and a hard place for a football club given the pandemic but thousands of fans are already financially

down, so when payments kick in, they’ll want to know what they’re getting.

Have they organised a march to Hampden yet?

It feels like the day after a big win yet all Celtic has done is follow the rules.

We’re the eight in a row champions of this country and there hasn’t been one newspaper, radio station or television channel stand in our corner. Shame on them all.

The battleground will move now to the construct of the nine person SPFL Board. It ain’t over till it’s over but nine is nearly here.

Standing ovations to the guys at TheCelticBlog and CelticStar who stood in the mud for three weeks to wrestle against every claim these pigs raised. James Forrest has been brilliant.

Paul67’s been more a sniper on the hillside. The null & void clamour changed from belligerent to bleating following PL’s statement after lockdown.

Budge and Gray should not waste too much effort on reconstruction. It has no chance. I’ll be happy to see Hearts relegated from the Championship next season.

  22. Asterisk or not we will have 9IAR and I for one could not give a flying duck.

Obviously I would want to finish the season on the park and win it by at least 16 or 17 points over whoever would finish second, probably Motherwell. But I will take this title add it to the 8 and go again next season for a Scottish RECORD 10IAR. Lurking Huns GIRFUY.

I hope Sevco are taken to task over their bringing the game into disrepute in this whole affair and anyone else like Hearts as well. Fine them and take it from their prize cash when it’s to be settled.

    D. :)

  23. Capt Tom Moore raises over £13m for NHS charities,

    fantastic,well done old fella

  24. Honestly think we would have had a advantage if season was played out

Especially if we start in Aug/Sept we would win ive no doubt.

Huns couldn’t sell Morelos as “still going for title”

He is what they will try and use to finance a new squad.

If they dont cash in or couldn’t because of transfer window shutting they would be

    goosed.

They probably want it called more than us . But cant admit it.

A well made point about Budge.

Here was a CEO who appointed Levein as director of football, then as manager. When it was clear to all he was out of his depth she took no action until it was too late. Even then they went weeks with Austin McPhee in charge before appointing Stendal.

Mismanagement and incompetence of the highest order.

They deserve all that’s coming, although I expect a fudge (get it?) and some form of reconstruction that keeps them in the league.

  26. An asterisk doesn’t bother me in the slightest,

This season is over another Title on our Roll of Honour, another trophyless year for the Hun.

My focus now is on all of us getting through this pandemic & looking forward to a return of Football some sweet day.

Unless there is some incredible improvement, the best I can see is Football next August with maybe 10/15,000

sanitised & socially distanced Home Fans in attendance.

It could well be the season after next before Football as we knew it returns.

Stay strong, Stay safe & Stay United.

    We shall not me moved.

Who’ll have the balls the ask Stevie G if the league should have been null and void in England?
