Celtic’s January 2012 transfer window

916

Michael Lustig arrived early on a pre-contract from Rosenborg.  A right back as tall as the North Stand he is one of the most curious signings we’ve made in a while, considering the strength we have in that position.

Rabiu Ibrahim, past-wonder-kid of African football, came in after negotiating an end to an unproductive stay in Eindhoven.  I hear lots about Ibrahim’s ability but Celtic will have to find a way of turning that into a productive force in the SPL, something PSV were unable to do in the Netherlands.

Polish international striker, Pawel Brozek, arrived on load from Trabzonspor, where he spent most of last year at the side of the pitch.  Pawel is an experienced pro who is likely to enjoy his time in the SPL.  He’ll keep the front pairing of Abbot and Costello on their toes, neither of whom will be certain of retaining their place.

Young players, Paul Slane, James Keatings and Lewis Toshney went out on loan to MK Dons, St Johnstone and Kilmarnock respectively, which Josh Thompson continued his tour of English towns and cities by heading to Chesterfield for 6 months.  None were likely to make more than cameo appearances this season, all will benefit from the career development opportunity.

Throughout the month I ignored stories that we would sell our prime first-team assets, Hooper, Stokes, Samaras, Forrest, Commons, Ki, McCourt and Matthews were all linked with clubs in England and offers were received for six of the above, but who in their right mind would sell top players in January when you are in a nip –and-tuck race for the title?

    RANGERS NEWS ,

I posted rumours on here ed about whyte and the dealings at ibrox regarding tax issues etc , and was verbally abused with some replies from fans! It was all lies from timmy etc , well heres one which you might well believe now.

A few weeks ago Gary Withey resigned from being rangers club secretary to go back to Collyer Bristow partners as the head partner , Although they are being investigated by the Serious Fraud Squad for over 51 miliion after 532 complaints made to the police by investors.

Then octopus/ticketus paid 24.4million into collyer bristows account for the season tickets that were ring-fenced at the same offices and address of wavetower who became rangers holdings ltd. This is 4 Bedford row , london . AS The truth is out there!………AS

  8. Craig Whyte the man who keeps giving

RAGING Rangers chief Craig Whyte last night launched a blistering attack on the former directors he says took the club to the brink of COLLAPSE.

The Ibrox chairman hit back after being accused of using season ticket cash to finance his regime.

Whyte was slated by ex-chairman Alastair Johnston and directors John McClelland and Paul Murray who put the boot into the man in charge of the troubled SPL champs.

Now in a stunning SunSport exclusive he has fired back and rapped: “They have all been sitting there for years making a financial mess of Rangers.

Now they are throwing stones at the man who is in trying to clear it up!

“They are slagging me off but where was Paul Murray when the club was up for sale for three years?

“How much money did Alastair Johnston put into Rangers?”

In a sensational twist Whyte revealed that former chairman McClelland and ex- chief executive Martin Bain had Employee Benefit Trusts — the controversial schemes that have plunged the club into their tax crisis.

Whyte said: “They took big salaries out and operated a tax scheme that has driven this club to the brink.

“There is no question that there is a vendetta against me by the old board. They wanted the club to themselves and I spoiled their plans.

“Now instead of getting on with their lives their anger is increasing.

“These guys don’t get a hard time and I find that unbelievable. Some people are rewriting history and saying they did a good job.

“What planet are those people living on?”

The old Gers hierarchy have lined up to voice fears over Whyte’s Rangers regime as the £6million sale of top scorer Nikica Jelavic to Everton with no replacement brought in leaves fans fretting over the future.

But Whyte countered: “I wasn’t surprised by the outbursts as certain people have been sniping since Day One.

“I was disappointed, though, to see John Greig and John McClelland being negative about the club.”

Greatest Ever Ranger Greig quit his work as a director and ambassador claiming he had become isolated under the new regime.

He said he found it “disturbing” that season ticket cash was being sold off and insisted: “It is painful when I see what is happening.”

Whyte, though, feels that Greig should not have been laying into the club as they face one of their toughest ever battles.

The Gers chief said: “It is very disappointing because I consider John Greig to be a true Rangers legend.

“I understand his concerns, we have a big job to do, I make no bones about that.

“I always felt John and I had a decent relationship so, yes, his involvement in particular was disappointing.”

“Celtic fans should look forward to my departure as we already have in place a top management team to take the Club forward. I have not dedicated five years of my life to hand the Club over to the wrong people. The Club is on an upward curve. Our target is to have a dominant position in Scottish football followed by being a recognised force on the European scene once again. The quality of people, a first class stadium, substantial finances and a faithful supporter base is the foundation on which future success will be built”.

If Craig Whyte is discussing it, then I am able to confirm that what he is saying about members of the previous board personally benefitting from the EBT scam that threatens Rangers is TRUE.

  12. They say, ‘The SPL and Celtic need Rangers.’

Don’t listen to them. It’s tosh – unadulterated tosh.

The huns were a busted flush for the first half of the ’80s and Ibrox was a sea of unoccupied orange plastic seats.

But we had the fairest, most competitive SPL ever with Celtic, Aberdeeen and D Utd going at it hammer and tongs, nip and tuck.

Any truth to the rumour that two RFC players were supposedly interviewed by HMRC about the EBT’s?

@celticrumours yes. There are two more ex-directors who used the EBT scheme that threatens Rangers’ very existence for their own benefit.

They may be legal but if it goes all the way back SDM this pantomime could run for a while yet.

It would be an amazing feat of human nature to look a gift horse in the mouth. especially if Directors actuall trusted they would be paid from the trusts.

The foolish bit was thinking a trust system could be used for players who would kick their grannies rather than trusting them.

Human nature though, being perverse will make no distinction.
