Celtic transform on triple substitutions

305

Celtic effortlessly disposed of newly promoted Kilmarnock on their dry plastic pitch yesterday.  Three goals up at halftime, the outcome was beyond doubt when Jota unleashed a spectacular effort from long range on 35 minutes, adding to the early strike from Kyogo.

If I was being picky……. We looked vastly better when Liel Abada, Giorgos Giakoumakis Aaron Mooy arrived on 66 minutes.  This could be because Kilmarnock were tiring, but I think this suggestion underplays the impact the change had in allowing Callum McGregor to move forward, Giorgos to disrupt his opponents and Liel to turn defenders.

Earlier in the game possession was lost carelessly, allowing Kilmarnock to get into the final third, a scenario that stopped abruptly at the triple substitution.  We are playing well and winning games, but Ange has some big selection decisions to make if he is to collect 6 points in the next two games.

  9. Might be a bit controversial but I thing GG should be playing ahead of Kyogo right now.

Kyogo has notched 2 goals which involved good team play and his quick movement. All good.

Over the course of the games so far, i’ve not seen the constant movement of last season; spending a lot of time marked this season. The passes are subsequently not on and he gets hardly any touches.

GG is looking for the ball at all times and seems full of confidence. He made great space on Sunday but the passes didn’t come. I think if he had started, Turnbull and O’Riley would have picked him out a lot in the first half.

Also, this Sunday (still annoyed I’ll miss it!) it might be worth starting Mooy as the anchor and McGregor LM. Hearts will fight in midfield and I’d like us to win that battle before finishing them off

From early doors. Not trying to belittle the experience of Stan Petrov in the early part of his Celtic career, more to show that there are different ways forward. And bhoy did he find his in a Celtic shirt, one of the best midfielders ever to don the hoops. Certainly the club did not demonstrate much in the way of being a good employer, but he found his own way through.

GG from the off is SPL mainstream — he is just that bit better.

KF stretching the game / using his pace is Flybogel / prunes to SPL defences.

    That is different

The main thing is to try and find space.

Obviously you are correct but why did you feel the need to post that?

Please note, any form of `Because I wanted to educate.` would be hard to believe.

  18. Time for another CQN hiatus for me I think.

Paul67 – love your articles. Don’t always agree with them but that is a good thing. However, while I appreciate you’re not responsible for the comments and there has to be as much freedom to ‘speak’ freely as possible, the overall experience of CQN ain’t what it was. I’d include in that the omnipresent ads and a few functional issues – I could live with those but the never ending trolling from some has had what i think is the desired effect by those responsible and I think I’ve had enough of it.

It used to be you could read the good stuff and skip the odd daft one. It’s now sifting through the daft to try and find the decent stuff.

There were a few really good post match pages of contributions on Sunday but that was but a fleeting moment of positivity.

    Re the young left back

While I know he should not be driving when over the limit, I don’t believe there should be a witch-hunt to end his career at Celtic.

Yes, he seems to have done something stupid but he is not the first and won’t be the last.

The important thing now is that he gets help through this to come out the other side and make a go of his career.

Some others, one in particular in recent memory, were given chance after chance, kept letting us down but were hailed as heroes.

    This youngster needs a chance.
