Celtic transform on triple substitutions

305

Celtic effortlessly disposed of newly promoted Kilmarnock on their dry plastic pitch yesterday.  Three goals up at halftime, the outcome was beyond doubt when Jota unleashed a spectacular effort from long range on 35 minutes, adding to the early strike from Kyogo.

If I was being picky……. We looked vastly better when Liel Abada, Giorgos Giakoumakis Aaron Mooy arrived on 66 minutes.  This could be because Kilmarnock were tiring, but I think this suggestion underplays the impact the change had in allowing Callum McGregor to move forward, Giorgos to disrupt his opponents and Liel to turn defenders.

Earlier in the game possession was lost carelessly, allowing Kilmarnock to get into the final third, a scenario that stopped abruptly at the triple substitution.  We are playing well and winning games, but Ange has some big selection decisions to make if he is to collect 6 points in the next two games.

Players career as the cliche goes is a short one in my time i did advise young 16 year olds embarking on a professional career you will be relying on the body they have to make them money and advance as a player, take excelllent care of your health, be in no rush to consume alcohol it can wait, training is everything in the early stages honing your good points, practice to elimnate your weaknesses, young Mr Bernabei has a tough opponent in respect of Greg Taylor if he wants that starting jersey, he would do well to concentrate on that, im sure he is getting good advice, i wish him well, tabloid scum shite like Sky/Sun etc best ignored

PSV unbeaten so far this season

PSV opened their season with a 5-3 Dutch Super Cup win over league champions Ajax and have beaten Emmen and Go Ahead Eagles – 4-1 and 5-2 – so far in the Eredivisie.

Former PSV striker Van Nistelrooy’s side beat Monaco 4-3 on aggregate in the Champions League third qualifying round, winning the second leg 3-2 in extra-time.

“We’ve seen a lot of games from them this season,” said Van Bronckhorst. “There’s a clear way of playing, they’re comfortable on the ball, very strong in transition moments to attack.

“It’s the last step into the group stages so it’s normal you’re going to face a very difficult opponent.

I really miss the golf, the reason we came here was that a new course was getting built a short drive away, sadly the local mayor got the jail for accepting brown envelopes and the course was mothballed, also about a hundred houses were deemed to be in violation of the planning rules, total bollix BTW, but even bigger envelopes were exchanged and folks lost their investments and their houses are still empty, they did knock a few down, only the ones who had folks in them so they had to either pitch tents and caravans or sleep on friends couches, the corruption was and is rife, as ever the real culprits got away with things.

  12. Internet trolling: A definition

An internet troll, or online bully, deliberately tries to offend, cause trouble or directly attack people by posting derogatory comments on Facebook posts, blogs, under YouTube videos, on forums and other social media, such as Twitter and Instagram. Not every argument can be considered as trolling; a difference of opinion can lead to healthy discussion which can be invaluable on forums.

    ====================================

    Playing devil’s advocate here…

If one poster cannot ignore another poster (whom they describe as a troll) but instead retaliate via direct, personal, derogatory name calling….does that define the retaliating poster as a troll too?

Do “two wrongs make a right”?

    ————————————————

Ps I come onto CQN to, hopefully, read constructive comments regarding Celtic. I try not to engage with “trolls”. I often find myself scrolling past numerous posts. Hence why I lurk on CQN less often these days.

I think of CQN as P67’s house party,

His door is open to all; not just to those I agree with, and rightly so. If I overhear another party goer (troll), and I find them offensive – there are a few things I can do.

I could notify the party host of the offender and voice my point of view regarding the troll. If I bump into said troll later on, I can assume that the host does not think the troll warrants ejection from his house. I then have to choose between avoiding the troll, and instead engage with other party goers, or I can choose to leave the party myself.

I would definitely not have the audacity to walk around the host’s house telling everyone who’ll listen that I don’t like said troll and I tell everyone that the host should eject said troll. That could be described as disrespectful towards the party host.

It’s the host’s party…in his house. If I don’t like another guest, I’ll refuse to engage with them. Simples.

    Just my opinion.

  15. *** SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2022-23 ***

RESULTS FROM GAME #3 – KILMARNOCK 0 CELTIC 5 (KYOGO, JOTA, JENZ, STARFELT, GIAKOUMAKIS)

Plastic pitch – what plastic pitch? We played some of our best football of the season so far and certainly didn’t go looking for excuses in terms of the surface.

A fine move for our first goal meant that any nerves were settled early and all of our pressure was rewarded for once with another couple of goals before half time. Our domination continued into the 2nd half and isn’t it great when substitutions are made and those coming on score our 2 second half goals. So, much more comfortable than I had feared and after a 21 hour gap we were back at the top of the league looking down on the Sevco.

3 games, 9 points, 10 goals and 7 different scorers. A very good start.

And as for the voting it was again another great response so thank you to the 88 who turned out to vote, despite the poor weather. The total votes cast for each player (with my own choices asterisked) are as follows –

    Hart: 0

    Juranovic*: 20

    Carter-Vickers: 21

    Jenz: 33

    Taylor*: 76

    McGregor: 5

    O’Riley: 9

    Turnbull: 1

    Jota*: 82

    Kyogo: 1

    Maeda: 10

    Starfelt: 3

    Abada: 0

    Giakoumakis: 2

    Mooy: 1

    Forrest: 0

So, the top 5 players receiving POINTS for the game against Kilmarnock are –

    Jota – 5 pts

    Taylor – 4 pts

    Jenz – 3 pts

    Carter Vickers – 2 pts

    Juranovic – 1 pt

NOTE – WE WIN 5-0 AND EACH OF OUR BACK 4 ARE AMONG THE TOP 5 PERFORMERS!!

And the overall standings after 3 games played are –

    15 points – Jota

    10 points – Taylor

    7 points – Jenz

    4 points – Carter-Vickers and Welsh

    2 points – O’Riley

1 point – Hart, Hatate, Juranovic and McGregor

Again, the luxury of not having European qualifiers means we have to wait 6 more sleeps until our next game at home to Hearts on Sunday at 3pm. Sorry to sound like a broken record but, again, remember that anyone, whether posters, lurkers or distant cousins of either can vote after any game and join in at any time – just keep a note of the email address – sencelpoty@gmail.com

  19. Don’t disagree Gerry, but I think Contributors here are more than House Party Guests,

I would assume with advertising Income that the site is generating some profit,

So in one sense we are paying our way by our Posts also over the years Posters here have raised substantial amounts for various good causes.

As individual Posters we are not important but the collective effort has been important,

I am very thankful for the site as through it I met some fine Tims and strong friendships,

As I’m 74 now don’t travel to Glasgow too much, accordingly gave up my Season Ticket years ago.

However thanks to Friends made through the Site, have never been stuck for a ticket.

I think the site can be very beneficial for overseas Supporters as it creates a closeness to Celtic even though some Posters are scattered all over the Globe,

I genuinely care that the Site survives, I know dozens of really good Celtic Men & Women who left because of a few Zoomers who put their own self importance ahead of the Collective good,

No problems with arguments and even a few heated ones at time, no problem with a bit of craziness , no problems with non Football Posts but in my opinion the Blog should reflect our collective love of Celtic at it’s core,

A coincidence? No, a scene straight outta Outlander, to be shown in the next series. Fact.

You mentioned visiting the gardens in Armadale, and the visitor centre there. Not usually a big fan of visitor centres in Scotland, usually closing the doors just as you get there, but I will make an exception for this one, proper, historical, informative and helpful. And it is not an official site either, inspired, initiated and financed by bona fide ex patriots if I can use that phrase, the American sept of the MacDonald Clan. What if love of Celtic is secondary to PLC pro Sevco maintenance, ie keep the petence of oldfirm games alive and kicking, by those who pull the strings?

Where stands our love of this period in Celtic`s history if it includes us sucking up oldfirm priced tickets to see SEVCO vs CELTIC, some Celtic supporters coldly paying without batting an eye lid…..

    Ticket trap prices = £49 – £52 – £55?

…for tickets, RANGERS price was £49 b4 they died in 2012.

    RANGERS RIP 2012.

    and then….

RANGERS price on SEVCO vs CELTIC tickets in 2016 approved by PLC?

So what then – move on?

Mention it and be called a troll?

    What to do?

Agree with your sentiments. The blog has generated so much pleasure to many. 👍

How we deal with “trolls” is the predicament.

We most definitely have lost too many good posters who have chosen to “leave the party”.

Personally, I’ve lurked on CQN for more years than I can remember. It was my sole blog for connecting with other Celtic supporters.

When I started to see the deterioration of standards on CQN, I looked elsewhere g FG or my “fix”. I joined Sentinelcelts.

Over the years, my lurking has gone from 95% CQN/5% SC…to…70%CQN/30%SC…to now 25%CQN/75% SC.

And that trend will continue if things don’t change here. I’m not going to tell Paul how to run his blog. I’ll simply slip away, to another, better blog. C’est la vie.

    Take care and HH
