Just read the list of folk who went to Coia’s today.

Reads like a queue for the confessional with ACGR first in!

Just seen the dates for all the european qualifiers.

I will be retiring to my country residence in Tuscany at the end of June and staying for most of July.

I am not sure if there is a Celtic pub in Cortona but you can expect a new Italian CSC if I have anything to do with it.

When asked about his celebration and sending off today, NFL said he was getting stick from the sevco fans, and was giving it back to them.

    Sipsini

Did they mention what part of Coatbrig they were from ? Ma nephew was suited & booted in the hospitality as he sent me a picture with a GIRUY before the game … I think he meant “wish you were here uncle”

  7. I just watched Sportscene on the iplayer there. Both Michael Stewart and Steven Thompson both kept referring to CP as ‘Parkhead’ So I guess that’s it settled then. Ha Ha!!!

At the end of the day even if it’s not technically correct, it’s a term of endearment.

  8. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

The Huddle, apalling comment by a total winker of a player. Of course no comment made by the interviewer at that terrible comment.

I’m struggling to think of any Broonie tackle as bad as that winker’s today.

  9. I’ve not had a chance to read back but well on Neil Lennon with his GIFUY for the abuse he has taken from the monkeys in the past.

  10. GFTB…

I first met them years ago at a hun game at ipox, you will probably know them as they travel everywhere following Celtic.

I don’t travel much so i only see them now and again.

I’m not sure where they stay but they all have good jobs in management.

When I first went to games in the 60’s I went to Parkhead – the term Celtic Park May have been around but never in common use until the 90’s

I Prefer Celtic Park as a brand but you youngsters shouldn’t be digging up the old crew for times you weren’t aware of – overall I love Paradise.

On the football front – today had a very artificial feel about it, players ‘hiding’ befit+the final – what worries me is hat winning is a habit and we haven’t done it in the last two games

    Hail hail

A valedictory address to PR7, Paddy Roberts.

I’m just a Celtic fan with a season ticket that let’s me into cupties at Celtic Park, and a mostly fruitless traveller to away games where I give up when the wads of notes come out to satisfy our bus convenors.

Two and one half years you’ve been a Celt, Paddy. This season has been a bust unfortunately. Doesn’t matter to me, son.

For more than fifty years I’ve watched footballers given a Celtic jersey. Seen them all; runners, chasers, passers, hitters, blockers, tacklers.

You’re none of them. You play fitba’. You play Jock Stein’s pure, beautiful, inventive football and I hope you always will wherever you go this summer.

Born to wear the hoops, Celtic fans will love you always

  17. Poor Barcelona, going for an invincible season, not to be! 37 played, drawn 9, lost 1 today. 90points.

    Not good enough really!

  18. just home from the game .

Havent read back but like me some will be disappointed , but

that result got a result and as a “glass half full ghirl” I wont complain

Was great to meet a lot of cqners at the corner today I’ve missed that recently and look forward to meeting many more in seasons to come.

  20. DD Thanks for introducing me to Freisdorfor at the game- another name to put to a moniker.

I did call in to the BV as you said you would be there but ye wurnie – thankfully there was a table full of Tims there, and no ugly Hun types!

Big Packy, I was having such a happy, happy day till I saw your post about Joan and your own personal history and I then realised, again. that there is much. much more to life than a football match and a football team. no matter how much we love them. I have a great personal empathy with you and Joan, which I don’t need to explain just now. I hope to God that the two of you can work through today and I mean that with the core of my heart and soul.

  21. I see the ? has disappeared a good number of fans with 9000 empty seats today! Ah well, the broken record will be back in the morning I suppose!

  22. Have to say I’ve been surprised by the tone of the blog as I read back.

7iar achieved- the title awarded and an unprecedented double treble potentially just a week away.

But we are back to dissecting our failures before we’ve spent any energy on celebrating our successes. Hard not to see signs of a spoilt support in that.

We have reached that stage in our cycle of success where we get disturnbed by every blip and worry that the record 10iar might not be achieved. Now , I like our manager to be a restless improver who never settles for less than the perfomance level we’re capble of providing. But I don’t admire a paranoid or hypercritical or fragile support. These players and managers have earned the right to expect some confidence to be invested in them domestically. We will be long odds on to land an 8th title next year but there is nothing guaranteed. A bad league start, injuries to key players, dressing room unrest, and changes in managerial and coaching set up can seriously disrupt any squad and put you back in the pack trying to catch a runaway leader, like the Hearts season of 85/86. Maybe next year will be the time when the doomsayers predictions will come true and after 7 years of false predictions they can say “I told you so” and they will believe it.

I saw 7iar title celebrations today and I can give no reason to spend time outlining the faults of the players who provided that, even though they have them, on this day of all days or this week of all weeks.

Finally on the Roberts/Forrest thing, my view might surprise some. I feel the same thrill that everyone else gets in seeing Paddy Roberts in full flow. I would love him to stay and achieve some of his massive potential with Celtic, especially since City don’t want to play him in their squad. But it is not to be, because he has willed it so, therefore, he departs with my appreciation and regard- he will be welcome back anytime.

But let’s not fool ourselves or re-write history, he has not had the chance to hit the heights and kick on this season because he has had a series of injuries preventing him from getting a regular run in the team. He has not been prevented from performing because his face does not fit or because “Wee Jamesie” is Brendan’s favourite and he can’t see past him. James has responded to the challenge laid down by Paddy Roberts. He has raised his game, he has remained fitter for longer and he has outperformed Paddy because of this. James has had a season with 8 goals and 7 assists in the league and has 17 goals in all competitions. He has been nominated for POTY in Scotland and lost out to a magnificent performance from his skipper. On the question of whether he has improved, I would point out that he came nowhere near a POTY nomination in our invincible season. How did he get one this season if he has not improved? Has every other player just got worse?

A few short week’s back when the blog sentiment about James Forrest had started to co-incide with my own views, I said that James was only ever 2 average games away from reverting to being a scapegoat player for a large section of our support. The Killie and Dons game performances allowed him to be scapegoated again and many have piled in. I could even agree that he was the worst player against Killie or Aberdeen, but only if you ignored the equally inept performances of the vast majority of his teammates on both days.

I cannot understand the anhedonism involved with such posts today or indeed during this week. These players have given us another great season- they are on the brink of an historic achievment.

I only want to say Well Done! to all of them.

We will have a long close season in which to dissect the respective merits of many players. And we can all agree that James has had another stinking season, if only you base it on the 2 final matches.

Thanks Celtic and Brendan for all the hard work!

  23. Had to come back on as I was given a programme today and forgot to say thank you

  24. SFTB a voice of reason and sanity amidst the doom and gloom of our 7th straight title win.

The almost perfect season to make it 6 in a row has seen expectations for this season to be unrealistic. I thoroughly enjoyed my Super 7 Sunday and look forward to next weeks sixth silverware Saturday.

Unless we win by 5 clear goals against Motherwell I predict a CQN meltdown on just how pish we really are with a ? criticism of how we only had 2000 fans at the game!

  27. Long time since I had a look at cqn, longer since I posted.

the best of being part of the celtic family is still evident here. genuine compassion, empathy and encouragement for those who’s angst has surfaced and community spirit is still very much alive if what I’ve read today is anything to go by.

BMCUW or any of the down south Bhoys. Looking for a good place in London next Saturday to watch the cup final, somewhere where there will be a good crowd and some tunes. Much appreciated if any one can recommend somewhere. Hail, hail

    ***

Home of the WIMBLEDON CELTIC SUPPORTERS CLUB is highly recommended, mate. A short walk from Wimbledon mainline and tube station, its maybe 20 minutes from the city centre by these routes.

BUT,be warned. If there are engineering works which have closed them, just don’t even attempt it.

  29. Celtic better not underestimate the Steelmen, even though Nads cannae play.

Disappointed with the last 2 performances. I think Brendan kept the dudes in longer before coming out for Celebrations.

His first line in the speech said it all for me.

A lot of changes I’d guess this Summer.

Great Kudos for Broonie when he tried to drag the Team from it’s slumber.

Lenny was the one who’d get the crowd going by pushing right out of his defensive role in the CL just to get the place Alive.

The dangerous tackles on Broonie are going on by just about Every team in the SPHELL.

Levein – Ya Coward of a Person, you knew what you were doing. Your jealousy, well it is True.

Broonie is taking him to the cleaners verbally as well.

Hearts run by a Dinosaur thug. Aye Great.

The despicable Logan vermin that played that card against Tonev (even if he wisnae that good a player), he showed Yesterday that he is a rodent and he is a feckin Liar IMO, TBH – I don’t think he is very clever.

Celtic should have defended our player at that Time.

Celtic will not have it easy next Saturday. Motherwell will play the game of their Lives.

There will also always be those SFA Refereeing parameters that can be vague to say the least.

Motherwell will try and put Rogic out of the game as he is not as solid as Moussa.

Aiberdeen tried to put Broonie out of the Final by winding him up. Not sure who gave him the pep talk from the bench… Brendan may have been talking as well. It defo calmed him down enough. He just wanted it so much, a win on the day, a shame a few others couldnae be bothered making runs.

    I couldnae gie a sh!t if Sevco finished 2nd or 3rd.

One thing is certain, I want Celtic to annihilate Aiberdeen Every game next Season. And that Logan scum to be reminded of it.
