  1. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    SFTB @ 2:28pm. Superb post.

    Treble treble achieved.

    League cup won.

    Top of the league.

Elhamed & Elyanoussi back in January.

An admittedly tired JF rested in January.

Capacity to strengthen squad in January.

(the other lot’s will be weakened).

    Yet so much angst everywhere.

    What’s not to like?

    Hail hail

  2. Hot Smoked 5.49pm

My days of “piling on” finished when my daughter was born, my wages aren’t mine now :-)

Even back in the day I would never bet “heavy” on Celtic, losing money isn’t great, losing and Celtic getting beat is double the pain

Only so novelty bets on Celtic like the league cup final I put £3 on Julienne to score 2+ goals, which just means if he scores 2 or 10 you get paid out, the price was 300/1 so a nearly a grand if Julienne has managed another goal

Only ever bet what you are comfortable losing

    JNP 6.00pm :-)

Unlike Celtic (or politics) at least I know exactly what am talking about when it comes to gambling … had the massive highs and plenty of the lows …

Thankfully it’s now a hobby, 30yrs ago probably an addiction :-)

    That’s the fine lines ….

  3. HOT SMOKED.

    Old Tim

Congratulations you Old Techno Wizard :-))

I wish I was,it was just a bit of luck on my part,I have to log-in every month or so,I usually press the log in button and it usually comes right away, but tonight,it had me logging around 20 times before i tried another way, that was posting onpage 13 then post comment and it worked,First time.not clever, just luck it worked.

  4. From Rob Harris.

A third racism warning over Spurs stadium speakers- the game should have been stopped and players taken off.

English football often denounces how racism is dealt with abroad but it appears the Premier League is not following FIFA protocols correctly today at Spurs.

  5. Back in late 60s I used to have a couple of bob on the horses on a Saturday. Then one Saturday I put on a bet which won me £40 ( was earning about £10 a week) – next week I won just over £60 – haven’t betted since.

    True story

  6. Betting can be a bit of fun if you just limit it to a few quid or whatever.

With the internet competition amongst bookies, their spread is around 6%.

So if you bet £1000 over a season in lots of little bets, by average you would be left with £940.

Had you gone to the pub and just watched the games, that £1000 would be gone by Christmas and your beer gut bigger.

I work in IT and the prestigious names to have on your cv would be the obvious banks and other finance companies in the City of London.

Now, the ones to have are the likes of BET365 and Betfair etc.

  7. JNP – thanks for that.

I always feel that the money won is nice but even better is the feeling that you’ve beaten the system.

And for these companies being omnipotent, Brexit was 8/1 the day of the poll and Trump 4/1.

  8. Petethebeat.

Back in the day, before the internet, I used to find arbitrage, it was very difficult, but now and again it would happen. I would win, very little but just knowing that I had done it was satisfying.

As for beating the system, one very clever, legal one, I recall was, the price of a hole in one at a golf tournament.

Some guys had worked out the true odds were over 2/1.

This was obviously before algorithms, they went round lots of independent bookies and were given odds ranging from 5s to 14s!!!.

They won a few quid before the bookies caught up.

    SPIKEYSAULDMAN on 22ND DECEMBER 201

This site is probably the least representative of all celtic sites too (good or bad)

    Spikeysauldman.

I hope you don’t mind, I’ve just taken this bit out of a much longer post by you.

    I agree.

It’s amazing, you go on Twitter, and then here, and the views are very different.

Whether we like it or not, this site is viewed, by many, as a site for ” the older folk” which is a shame, because there are some very good posters on here.

I’m not sure that anyone under 45 posts on here, anymore

    ____________________________________________________________________

Why would people assume that I wonder, could be because we’re not effin and blindin at each other, too many politics posts maybe, not pro pyro party enough….? Perhaps those of over a certain age should prefix their user name with the word OLD so as to enlighten some of our younger posters.

  10. JNP 7.05

    😊

The bookies have auto alerts telling them of their competitors prices on horses,dogs,2 flies on a wall, lol ,so the chances of you getting a range of odds nowadays are limited.

Was working beside a lot of young people recently, sadly the old gambling toppin up

the wages for a lot o them on zero hours contracts.a lot chasing it.

    It’s everywhere,adverts etc.

    Hope all’s well with you

  11. Lazio beat Juventus 3.1.

What a free kick at the end.

I think beating them home and away was a brilliant achievement.

  12. Rather than gamble, try buying Premium Bonds, you never lose your money, I have got some bonds and get a cheque every now and a again, must have a few hundred of pounds over the years, still waiting for the big one though.

It’s still a gamble, but it doesn’t effect the money,if you buy a few hundred bonds you will still have the money you invested, + bonus payments over your investment period, could be £25 up to £1.000.000.

  13. An Tearmann.

    Hey D.

I’m doing ok, how are you, my friend.?

See the Peter Mullen that recently died, Holyrood Head Teacher.

Is that the same guy who was our headie at Bellarmine?

    Peachy Mullen.

Gambling online is a curse for some, the stories they tell me,in the work betting on Ice Hockey, Baseball, Handball, anything just to try and claw back losses, very sad.

  14. I just checked the Paddy Power odds for the Hun game, We are 11/10 on. Huns 5/2 & 13/5 the draw.

Celtic are 3/1 on to win the SPFL & Huns are 15/8.

  15. Fairhill Bhoy 7.43

Your Dad would be delighted, it would give him a break. :-) :-)

    How you doing?

2 more games this year, winning both would be ideal.

  16. JIMMYNOTPAUL-😂-was out with him before game yesterday.He wants a new car😡

My god it’s murder, nothing wrong with the one he only bought 2years ago😉

  17. JNP

  18. Corkcekt 7.40pm

Paddy Power will probably offer the best odds for a Celtic win, as knowing the Sevs he (the company) will not have taken much pounds/euros on the draw or away team as “they” think Paddy Power is a … “dirty ………(insert your own catholic expletive) …. basket” and don’t like the colour of Paddy Powers businesses … so Paddy will try and entice any other customer with an attractive price for the favourite in the proverbial 3 horse race

  19. Fairhill Bhoy.

Why does he want a new car?

I’m really looking forward to the festive fun, the youngest is excited, so that’s magic.

I’m working tomorrow and Tues, though, so hopefully will fly in.

    What about you?

  20. An Tearmann. 8.08

    Thanks for clarification.

I know you shouldn’t talk ill of the dead but he wasn’t very successful in controlling our school, was he? I have to play some of the stories down, as I worry people will think they are exaggerated.

Whether people think Peter Lawell is a good guy or not to come from our school, at that time to his current position at Celtic is some achievement.

  21. JIMMYNOTPAUL-new car?you tell me.its my inheritance he’s frittering away 😉

I’m off for the fortnight unfortunately. But looking forward to Christmas day with the grandchildren, and Boxing Day in the auld hoose. You have a great time mate and stay healthy please 💚

  22. * EXCUSES IN EARLY *

As I have been told by Mrs Baldie that we are to be watching the latest adaptation of A Christmas Carol on BBC1 at 9pm then the results of the latest men of the mach cmpeiin will not be out unil nearer half 10….

  23. D’oh – my occasionally sticky keys have re emerged there but hopefully you got the gist of it. 4 more sleeps then a new computer! This one via my tablet….

So folk, can we have all your tributes and fond reminiscences of the sadly departed and deeply missed ‘Rangers’? 😆😆

If the volume proves unmanageable, we’ll get the grieving cortège over on Follow Follow to come and take them away.🚛🚛🚛

  26. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

JimmyNotPaul’s post of 6:33pm tonight referencing Rob Harris’ observations about racism at today’s match is genuinely revealing.

How, in God’s name, can supporters of teams with many black players, reconcile their racism towards black athletes playing for the opposition?

    Absolutely bewildering !

  27. An Tearmann.

I didn’t know Chris went to Vinnies too.

Can they not find a place for you, at the top table?, surely just show them your old school tie. :-)

  28. GENE on 22ND DECEMBER 2019 6:01

Fair enough just seen your post . Cause foster saved a few shoots in cup final some no mark in England said we cheated because we had foster on loan. He forgot to say that the other team also had several players on loan. The big difference is celtic can pay the Bill’s. Sevco cant actually afford Defo, who has has scored 11 or so goals this season, but nothing said about his loan ergo the no mark hurting hun or attention seeker needs ignored.

Sevco are running up a mountain of debt and that is clearly cheating because spending money is the most effective way to win games, problem is its other peoples money. While every other team in the league lives within its means sevco just do what they want regardless of the potential harm.

Tbh the other teams have done nothing to stop such reckless business practice so cant complain, however, ordinary fans do and should raise the questions.
