It’s not out of any angst that I reckoned earlier subs woulda done us good. What I saw was when players got tired, their accuracy, energy and effect on the game etc was compromised – hence why sharing the playing time among the pool so others are match-fit seemed, like you hinted, a fairy nuff reason.
I thought Aberdeen had more possession than they shoulda given the gulf in spending/class; and they had more penalty box threat in the 2nd than we did.
We were good for the win but I can still make my observations without it coming from any sense of worry!

Surely “we” are all delighted about today … not saw any of the Neil Lennon dissenters on the blog … funny how at the first hurdle they are on with their Cluj & Fetenvarocis … but now praise for our manager … some have been known to write down in words “I never wanted him to start with” …. I sincerely hope Neil leads us to 10 but if he doesn’t he is still a Celtic legend for me

I certainly did not see this. I thought the 2nd half was extremely boring and trouble free. The stats show that Aberdeen had 42% possession, which is fairly meaningless unless you count where they had possession and how they used it. The stats show that they attempted15 shots with only 1 being on target; that suggests that we kept them to safe areas.
Of course, because we fear a loss or a draw, we will want action to be taken earlier and earlier in a game; so much so that if Neil has not made his first two subs by half time he can safely be acused of complacency. Every sub is stick or twist decision, when it worls the team gets calmed and improves. When it does not work, it disrupts the rhythm and makes the team weaker. Some of our fans see subs as only positive moves but they can be good, ineffectual or downright bad for the team. Today, Neil has the luxury of being able to poit out that his decision to “stick” and not twist until the 73rd minute was completely supported by the end scoreline. Those who felt we were raising the risk of a lost goal were proven wrong. Now, those that called for Ntcham to be subbed earlier on Thursday have a very strong point. He had been a magnificent player in the first half and everything he did in the 2nd turned to merde. There was no-one in the Ntcham category today.
One thing’s for sure. Scott Bain will tell you what an easy day he had.
Oh! and if you are not infected by 10iar Angst then you are in a minority of one in our support.
This is a big season and it is almost impossible not to fear losing out on a highly valued prize. I keep hoping that we will see the same resilience and defiance that our support showed in Seville when we lost out on a huge prize but I think there is little likelihood that we will do so.

SFTB – on here, it’s all – and only – about opinions.
But it’s patently wrong to insist you can only make subs out of fear; you need to blood young players into games esp when you have a well-earned lead and I still think wi games coming thick and fast, we should be able to spell a Rogic or Broon or Cal with their eventual replacements. But I’ll watch the 2nd half again with your perspective in mind.
I hope you do enjoy yr retirement and hope your missus lets you.
Mine tells me I’m one-in-a-million, so I’m happy to be in the minority of resilient Tic fans as well.

GFTB….you seem to know the inner thoughts of Celtic fans…I’m sure many who have come on criticising NFL for recent results and performances are aware of how the media portrays him and dislike it as much as you do but NFL is the Celtic manager and his selections ,tactics and formations will be discussed and praised or complained about on a Celtic blog.Im sure 90% of the guys criticising his management still desperately want him to succeed.You are having a go at people that come on the blog after a draw a defeat or a bad performance but you do the same thing after a win.As long as people are respectful to NFL they can say what they like about the team’s performance and NFL’s also.

Can anyone explain to me why changing to a 3-5-2 after Christmas helped us win the league yet we have struggled with it this season and are now reaping the benefits of 4 at the back?

I’d like to hear comments on that too.
I remember clearly when we lost the game against them in December last year the talk was all about our midfield being overrun by theirs because we stuck to a back 4. Then after Dubai it was 3 5 2 or 3 4 2 1 and the rest is history.
