  1. lets all do the huddle on

But they are happy to sit back and watch the George Square riots (plural).

    —-

thank you for explaining how pluralisation works in the English language ;-)

  2. Only saw the last 20 minutes due to pesky work, so cannot really comment on the whole game.

A very good 3 points after a physically and mentally draining game last Thursday.

It would be good a have a quick glimpse of the Lesser Spotted Christopher Jullien prior to the January transfer window

If he is fit the Betis game on the 9th of December would be a good starting point for 20 minutes.

    HH, the journey continues.

  3. Abada is no we’re near celtic level.a fact of life.a total reject.jamesy done more in 5 mins than he done the full game he hides fae the ball.i watched him from my seat.a disaster of a player.a shitebag

  4. Very harsh on Abada…he is going through a rough spell just now…let’s just get behind The Bhoy….

  5. Far too many “sceptics” on here tonight….we won a hard fought game…the ref played his part…and after a very tough 90 minutes away in midweek…..

  6. onenightinlisbon on

Abada has shown enough to merit being in the squad and I trust the manager before any of the football manager experts. Young lad, lots to learn, in a good place to do that.

Whereabouts in the copeland road do you sit? 😉

No way you’re a Celtic supporter. Your spelling gives it away.

  8. Has the world-wide mid/post pandemic mental health crisis spilled over onto the blog.

Going by some of the extreme negativity on here, yes. Airing your weakness, stresses and fears for others to burden shows the emotional intelligence of a child. You can create conversation or talk about Celtic by not just picking out a critique. If a two line moan is all you got then folk will question your allegiance.

We won after a tough euro away trip overcoming the sfa cabal.

Got to enjoy the moments HH 🍀

  9. Abada isn’t a winger in my opinion.

    Better through the middle.

A young laddie who will become better with decent coaching.

Ralston VG and CCV never broke sweat..

    HH..☘

  10. Good 90 mins from Mccarthy today and 3 points.

Other than that another pedestrian and predicable performance.

  11. ST TAMS on 28TH NOVEMBER 2021 7:09 PM

I’ll take your word for it as I didn’t see the game but earlier in the season when our performances and results were boom or bust, I said I’d happily take a few scrappy ones. Many ways to win a football match and we’ll need the ability to win while not at 100%.

Rogic, Starfelt and a fit Forrest will improve our first eleven.

  12. Good result, especially after Thursday’s exertions. Talk of wingers, who should be strikers, made me think of Joe Miller. An incredible signing at the time as I thought he’d go to a good team in England. I think he played more as a striker for Aberdeen, though we played him wide. Another winger who was far better through the middle, was John Colquhoun.

  13. Thought Abada was poor today but wouldn’t write him off.

Jack Hendry & Anthony Ralston were amongst the many written off here.

McCarthy was getting pelters all week, nobody complaining today.

Ref ruined game, We should have won by more but our winning goal was a fluke and Juranovic had to head one off the line.

It’s a funny old game OK.

  14. glendalystonsils on

I too thought McCarthy had a good game today , moved the ball well and took no risks . Maybe something to do with the fact he was given the responsibility of a starting slot .

Overall a typical ‘Euro away hangover’ display, although we have had many of those with less happy outcomes.

If the Aberdeen players who assaulted Hart and Jota early in the game had got the card they deserved , it might have tempered their ‘enthusiasm’ . Just one of many infuriating instances of mibbery from Clancy today .

Abada is having a bit of a rough spell just now , he is a talent , but is raw and niave . As Jamesie’s fitness improves , we might do better with him starting and Abada being used as a later sub .

We are short of quality and depth at the moment but hopefully we can limp on until we get to the January window .

  15. Abada is young & inconsistent and yes, has lots to learn. James McCarthy is not so young & ineffectual – he has a lot to unlearn – namely his EPL days. They are gone and mean nothing now – he has got to show a better attitude and better form. His lack of urgency surprises, and only adds to the oft-times pedestrian nature of a team with the lion’s- share of possession in domestic games.

Playing out from the back is all very well if the midfield pick it up and drive forward. Too often, for my liking, they just seem to join in to a ‘pass the parcel’ seven-a-side game in our own half with Jota the only option. We don’t appear to have a midfielder who can take the ball on the half-turn and drive at the opposition, e.g. an Armstrong, or, a Christie.

Kyogo was starved of the ball and of players round about him today.

  16. onenightinlisbon on

We are headed in the right direction. How many of us really believed we would be in a cup final and still in contention in the league in November before Ange was appointed?

We are way ahead of where I though most of us believed we would be. Give the man and the players a chance. The January window will allow him the opportunity to expand the squad with quality and with players who will be able to play in his required method.

We got three points today from a difficult game, would we have got them last season?

  17. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Respect to several posters on this page.

    Good tone set IMHO.

That was a tough ask after an extremely tough Euro tie – our toughest game in the group and our last away Euro tie for nearly 4 months …

… And we got a win and 3 points.

    Well done the lads.

As for McCarthy? Thought he played fine.

My biggest concern is his instinctive response when he gets the ball …

… Stop, hold, protect the shape.

A few times today he had the opportunity to drive forward but, quite literally, stopped either with ball at feet or after a lay off.

I assume this is muscle memory from a career forged at Hamilton Accies, Wigan & Crystal Palace (3 backs-to-the-wall teams if ever there were any).

His career highs came at Everton (before a bad injury) when he looked a complete midfielder (a “quite good at everything” type).

    Here’s hoping.

  18. We are Celtic supporters….

    Allegedly.

If a player who pulls on the hoops° is having a hard time/dip in form,we support do we not? We encourage ,we sing…we support.

Some of the views expressed on Liel Abada are unfounded,a 20 yo foreign player been wearing the hoops since August.give him a break.support maybe??

I enjoyed that victory.we kept working.we kept wanting.Good to see mccarthy get a full game in.He done well.Good to catch up with a at the game and at St Mary’s this morning. All in all a good Celtic victory spent in the company of good celtic men and women

It was goal of the Season for me. :))

Superb effort by Every Celtic player and some sensational plays that deserved more.

Loads saying get Jota signed asap, we need to try get CCV on a contract too. The guy is a Real player, I get more impressed every time I see him play and I thought he was good from the start.

    Thanks Ange & the Bhoys.

RIP Bertie – the Great Entertainer.

I may be wrong but I want YNWA to be played on special occasions not against Livi etc. Today I was giving it laldy!!!

  20. Too edgy, jittery at times. Some poor passes and crosses when in great positions.Great from Ralston,Jota,CCV,a special word for Kyogo for the running and effort.Maybe some can lift their heads a bit more and give him service.

Mc Carthy, not as smooth as Bitton, but did the job fine.Great 90 mins.Sorry, maybe me,but I thought Calmac was just OK today.

    Great win.Another test Thursday,players rested a bit,some more back.Canny wait.

  21. They appoint Higgins it will be the action that will unite the broad Celtic support.

Got talking to a few supporter bus guys. They pretty much despite this fella.

  22. Sportscene show neither of the incidents at the start of the game, where there should have been at least 2 yellow cards for Aberdeen. Other “controversial” incidents blanked out. Now to hear what the panel make of their penalty…..

  23. A very good result in the end.Just can’t get a break from any refs.and if we did they wouldn’t be doing our games for a long time. Some things will never change.Next ref. will be the guy who did the B game.

  24. Kenny Miller, surprise surprise, reckons it was a penalty. The other chap, Foster, reckons it wasn’t. And he did play for Aberdeen and the deid team. He is the only one on BBC Scotland, apart from Michael Stewart (and Willie Miller on the radio) who are worth listening to.

  25. From my vantage point today, it appeared to me that The Aberdeen 27, David Bates, was the only person who stood with his hands behind his back during the minute’s clapping for Bertie.

Maybe my eyesight is not as good as it used to be but very disappointing if this is true.

    ####

    State of this.

Higgins was only doing what your cult wanted him to do.

  27. A decent performance after our exertions on Thursday night against a team offering a very different challenge

Kyogo looked like he was lacking sharpness. An able deputy would be able to give him a much-needed rest but for now we’ll have to get used to him being substituted at vital times of games with the bigger picture in mind. I thought that Aberdeen set up to nullify the threat his runs offer, but defending as narrow as they appeared to with the numbers they did left our wingers one on one with the full back more often than not, until they doubled up on Jota. Unfortunately Abada looked so low in confidence that he never looked like he was going to take advantage of the space. A half decent performance from him and I think we’d have run out comfortable winners, fortunately Jota is a match winner against almost any opposition at the moment.

Encouraging that we can win with Kyogo hardly getting a kick, that wasn’t the case not that long ago.

The second goal might have been fortunate but it came at one of those times when you can sense one’s coming. We seemed to realise the importance of the moment, Calmac was encouraging everyone to put in extra effort, there was far more movement.

A fully match-fit Jamesie will make a big difference. Like wise Rogic.

  28. Referee was chronic the whole game but at 1st viewing I thought, Penalty.I can see why he thought it was.Ex Hun dived.

  29. St Stivs

Was at a function on Friday night & was introduced by the party host, to a retired Police chief

The introduction, tell Norrie what you think of Bernard Higgins

Woo ft, didn’t miss him, and was less than complimentary

And that’s me being mild on his response

  30. I also thought CMcG wasn’t at his best today , agree ralston works his socks off but lacks the quality to be a automatic starter especially when we have an international right back playing left back without him being able to play the ball with his left foot.

  31. We’ll be in a very bad way should Kyogo or Jota pick up an injury this month. How we manage these two players will go a long way to influencing how we get on in December.

Given today was the more important game, I was surprised we seemed to sacrifice Forrest today so he could play last Thursday. We got away with it but we need to be smarter.

If Jota, Kyogo or Forrest play any role against Betis, I’ll be very surprised.

  32. Contact not initiated by defender = penalty.

That’s the standard of punditry on shortbread.

    From a Celtic SUPPORTER?!

  34. BSR.

    Good summary.

I was well pleased today considering mid week efforts,Clancy using the penalty award as some kind of contrition after awarding Hibs a pen.in the semi vs the huns.

He really is a weak willed compromised fraud.

  35. Only 14 games into a 38 game marathon. Still 2,160 minutes of league football to be played ( plus whatever ridiculous added time refs will add if Celtic are winning by one goal).

Just need to stay on the shoulder for the time being.

If you haven’t heard this interview with Ange from just over a week ago, it’s well worth a listen.

    Ange is on good form.

And, unlike what we are used to, the interviewer asks intelligent questions.
