Congratulations to every man and woman in our support who gave up their time in support of the bucket collection.

  2. Thanks Doc, a powerful point. If only those in power in Scotland could heed the words of their national poet and “see themselves as other see them”, i.e. see what their own national struggle has in common with the Irish struggle, then we might begin to consign Scotland’s anti-Irish racism to history. I live in hope.

I enjoyed the match today, thought we got our just rewards in the end. My enjoyment was however spoiled somewhat by the father and son combo who sit behind me. Perhaps I’m now turning into my dad but the language of those two was nothing short of disgraceful. The lad was only around 13 or 14. What disgusted me most was that in the main it was directed at the men wearing the hoops. Apparently Samaras, Broonie, Pukki , Ledley, Mulgrew, Izaguirre, Boeriggter, Commons, Balde were all feckin shoite. The rest must have been good possibly with the exception of Efe who they christened Iffy, because they didn’t call them feckin shoite. They did however stay to the end so in their eyes that will make them quality celtic fans.

I was there with my 12 year old son and he was starting to pick up on their negativity but I discussed it with him on the journey home and he recognised that.

I’m bringing my son up to love the hoops, this guy might think he’s bringing his son up to love the hoops but in reality he’s teaching him to hate them.

Relocation for next season I think.

So Lionroars67 was in orange today. That will go with his royal blue top he wears at thursday 5s. I knew there was something funny about him.

Meelan were there for the taking last time as well, granted they are pish.

Hopefully a strong, honest referee who isn’t a big club man, and we can do the biz.

If Pukki is not playing as the striker, I reckon we will do them, I would play him behind the main striker.

Our friends in Ireland consider it a great rebel song.

  8. Reclaim the orange, they robbed it anyways, just like they have everything else.

Some day they might think of something original for themselfs, but I won’t be holding the breath for it.

  9. eddieinkirkmichael I didn’t share your experience I am pleased to say. Rather my impression was that in the Kerrydale Suite the big majority of people were only too glad to contribute once they knew the cause.

Some avoided eye contact but I never got one knock back because of the cause we were collecting for, rather many who declined said they had already been approached outside.

You are right about my bucket being full and as hamiltontim has mentioned it spilled out when the handle broke such was the weight after we had left the Kerrydale.

It will be interesting to see how the campaign to have the convictions overturned at appeal goes. Much depends on the lawyer or lawyers handling the appeals and my experience of this is not good and I am always reminded of that saying Litigation: A machine which you go into as a pig and come out of as a sausage.

But there is no other way to fight injustice meted out by the courts than through the same (sometimes corrupt) courts.

The Netherlands has a population about three times bigger than ours so it shouldn’t be as parochial as Scotland where most lawyers/counsel/judges know something of each other, but from what I saw on TV the police behaved in a manner that they knew would not be punished because of the Noodbevel? order. That is worrying. A good democracy doesn’t have such barbaric behaviour enshrined in the law.

Lionroars67 was indeed in orange today and as we walked along the front of the stand I could swear that he broke into that sort of swaggery walk that certain seasonal marchers adopt!

Sorry to learn some of the bucketeers were getting a bye ball from some of the Celtic Park faithful today-find that strange and a bit upsetting tbh.

    exiled tim,

Don’t think there’s a chance Pukki will be playing.

I think Boerrigter has really forced his way into the reckoning.Samaras is a cert and so is Commons.Irrespective of who is playing I am convinced we will beat them.Normally I’ m a half empty glass person,I’m sure we will prevail.

I know that was the case for many but my point is so many of the those that passed honestly looked like they dispised us for doing the collection. I know this isn’t the way most would want today reported but it was my and others experience. I thought long and hard whether I would share that but felt I had to. There is a significant number within our support that think those that chose to get involved in Amsterdam deserved what they got, sorry if that isn’t what others want to hear but it’s out there and we should listen to what they say, if we think that all Celtic fans are on message and agree that this was an outrage perpetrated by a Police force out of control then we are in a delusional state. I’m concerned that there is a sizable number within our support that think the Police actions in Amsterdam were acceptable. That worries me.

  15. My thoughts on todays bucket collection was people had already donated before they got to me which was not that unusual from previous bucket collections I’ve participated in.

Plus people just walk by anyway, everybody is not going to stop and donate which is also nothing unusual, for instance I had folk walk by me then have second thoughts came back and donated

  16. eddieinkirkmichael

That’s nothing to do with the cause – its a charity thing, the selfishness amongst some people will stagger you – I’ve done Kano and Wee Oscar collections and had the same – however the majority our support are diamonds who do donate.

I’m just sorry I’m away on holiday and missed getting a treble bucketeer shirt!

Watched the game from Turks and Caicos on Celtic TV and the picture was perfect! Good to hear Tom Byod as co-commentator last time I seen him he was sitting next to me in the hellhole that is Amsterdam Arena.
