  1. Evening bhoys, cool and hun free.

Watched the game with about 50 odd Spanish tonight, to a man they were well impressed with Sammi, they didn’t think too much of Dan and Glenda, thought they were slow and cumbersome.

    My thoughts as well.

The goal was unfortunate, Beram deciding to duck, and I don’t think big Fraser saw it untill it was too late.

I hope Joe and Victor will be ok, all in all we wern’t disgraced, we play in a piss poor league and AM are miles ahead in technical ability, 40+ mill for a striker says it all really.

3 points on sunday is the priority.

I see there quite a few huns on, had a quick read back, they never fail to come out of the sewer when we don’t win.

  2. Disappointed, but hard to be too critical. Even a win tonight would have seen us looking for some kind of result in Italy. Special mention to the GB, who were outstanding! Well done bhoys!

  3. FFM – correct my man. I hope we can build on a common cause after today. The anger was palpable among the strikers. If we can channel it we won’t lose. Our financial heads on here are probably decent guys other than their political views and appetite for endangered animals on their pieces or clubbing baby seals for fun, so I have decided to ignore them and concentrate on the real world where we can make a difference. Not to say we shouldn’t discuss it all though. You never know how many people you might encourage to join in the struggle by a few words here and a few there – it’s the getting bogged down with people who don’t see beyond their own noses that seems pointless to me now.

Right, that beer and the feet up in front of a roaring fire!

    Keep on keeping on………………………….

Give Broonie credit he certainly looked interested and up for it when he came on so Scottie if you want to continue to play for the famous hoops get your act together and get the new contracted signed. If it was down to me I would be letting clubs know Ki was up for sale in the January window he just doesnt do it for me.H.H.

100% assessment bud. Dan and Glenda were exposed more with the loss of Brick67 in the 2nd half though, which is when they looked most vulnerable. They recovered several times as well though.

Bringing a balanced perspective to a match thread after a defeat at home fools no one. We are GLASGOW (Capital of the World) CELTIC (BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD) and should be conquering all in our path.

Like you I thought the performance a good if not great one and could not fault anyone for effort.

  7. Thought we played ok tonight, considering the weather conditions, but we will always struggle with Forster in goals.Sorry, but he is a nightmare.Slan

  8. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

Brown put in more effort than ki for the short time he was on he made a bigger contribution too.

Had it not been for corners and free kicks, we would’nt have seen ki all night, Lenny, get grip ffs.

If I watched a game tonight where I saw previous wrongs being corrected, Id be a happier man than I am.

The fact is, we all watched tonights game where Celtics failings were as depressingly obvious as they were predictable.

Mind you i did notice and will acknowledge a change in how we lined up at corners – where we had 2 men generally mixing it around the penalty spot area, running with men helping to put them off their run and block them. This helped us.

My Bug bears are the total apparent zero work from the training ground being evident out on the pitch.

The two players who get more time on the ball than anyone else on our team are the two centre halves. We have two bumbling centre halves who consistently cause us heart ache. 1 has done it since signing for us 18 months ago and the other has done it on a consistent basis since signing 4 and a half years ago.

I have no problem with the tactic of having an out ball, someone we can play it up to quickly when under pressure or to help move us up the park – however if it is going to be such a pivotal tactic then why are we still sitting here with only Samaras as that man. He wins around 5-10% of those long balls. (Credit to him he ran his socks off tonight)

Ki in big games is another persistent irritant. How he got 90 minutes today is beyond me.

A lack of movement off the ball is another bug bear which has remained steadfast since Strachan came in.

The quality of our free kicks and corners is something else which isnt getting any better

Whilst all these may appear just plain pessimistic they are nevertheless the flaws I see and the opposition scouts undoubtedly see and can build their tactics around.

Individually I think we are good enough to be getting better results in Europe than we are – so im not just plain old doom and gloom.

We are so frustratingly close to being so much better with a little bit more.

That little bit more – well that little bit which is in my opinion – isnt coming closer, isnt getting better and wont with the current personnel (and that includes management set up as well)

Neil said in his after match conference that its a twist to his ankle he is hopeful that it is not serious, Victor has a dead leg and doubtful for Sunday.

  11. Guys – we had our moments and could have had a goal or two but make no mistake AM were slicing open our defence at will. I disagree with the idea we deserved more from it. They had more possession, more clear cut chances, more corners, were quicker and had more composure. Our greatest problem tonight was unforced errors, constantly creating danger for ourselves out of nothing. The central defence triangle of Forster, loovens and DM never looked like a cohesive unit.

WIth regards to the goal, it was a decent hard shot that was low, swerving and fast. I think Kayal simply mistimed it.

    Udinese – wasnt a penalty!

Rennes – if that hadn’t had been an OG Rennes could have picked up the tempo IMO. Draw fair result

    —————

Its Euro football bud, Hooper got suckered, he was naive – cost 2 points

Rennes, Agree a draw was fair but reality is, without Cha being a mental case we had the win – cost 2 points.

Tonight, i can only presume Kayal has been worried about a ricochet and thought it better left to FF,

poor judgement – cost 1 point

I really think we have made fantastic progress and have the nucleus of a right good team,

Its Just frustrating, hard work ‘n’ some very good football gone to waste,

    through silly individual errors.

    g,

  13. hopefully big Vic was tactical – need him back for Sunday

my point about ki was in the Spanish league you dont get hassled the way Athletico did tonight – they were very un spanish in their approach tonight

in the spanish league he would get more time to ping the ball about

it was very obvious they had done their homework on us – 4 players around young jimmy everytime he got the ball and they really hounded us in groups – kinda the way we do in Europe

  14. RobertTressell @ 20:29

That’s a crucial point. There are right wing elements paying people to post on what they consider to be “subversive” left-wing fora. Doubt they’d waste their money here but you never know :)). But always worth discussing as you say, as only one argument shows sense in the end, and it’s important to combat the UK meeja which has managed to convince its readers that it is those evil foul “immigrants” (who increase the GDP – the country’s wealth) that are the ones costing the UK money, and not bankers, politicians, war mongers (the British “Defence Industry”) and tax protection for the wealthiest 1% of the country.

Interesting no Mo Bangura on the park tonight makes me wonder if we have thrown money away with this Bhoy I know hes not had many games but he doesnt seem on the front of Lennies mind.H.H.

  16. Thought Fraser forster did fine again tonight, I’m not sure how he can be xpected to save a ball that kayal has ducked to get out the way of, traveling at high speed and through a bunch of players

I’ve been saying for a good few weeks now what burley in a rare moment of sense pointed out – Fraser forster was behind a couple of very good keepers at Newcastle, Tim krul is the standout keeper in the EPl this season and a good shout for player of the season so far.

He’s yet to let us down IMO. And while the defence looked shaky at times we should give them a bit of credit for only conceding the goal they did against a good team. They’ll all need to be at their best against Di Natalie and co mind you

  17. Ref my post @ 20:39

Just thought it’d be more interesting to drag the hunposters into a political equality discussion rather than let them post freely in their attempts to put Celtic down.

  18. FFM

Losing Vic was a blow, his awareness for a kid, and he’s just a kid, is astonishing at times, he will only get better.

I thought the team did ok tonight.

Some are coming on here expecting performances that top quality players give, we don’t have top quality players, they wouldn’t be playing for us if they were top quality, a few years ago maybes, not now. Bosmans, freebies and loans is the lane we are in, so I am not going to slag them off. They are as good as it gets.

  19. Anyway back to the game.

I wasnt up screemin at the telly like most Euro nights I can take or leave this “cup” The main stuff starts at Tannadice.

Ps Dush, so you know wee Dec then??

Nite all mrs C’s got a glint in her eeeeee!!

  20. Have said before Ki and Kayal partnership does not work.

Our low win percentage with that pairing continues.

Still think our coaches caution first approach hampers the team in Europe.

Even at 1-0 down we stick to a defensive formation with our one up front like for like subs.

  21. fan-a-tic – subs were more not like for like. Stokes off, Brown on when you are a goal down was a strange one. We needed goals, not to tighten things up.

  22. Look ffs, we did as good as expected with a young team on the up, we’ve been downsizing since Seville and under Lenny we’re slowly improving.

Can all the real (ignore the new folk they’re Huns) Celtic supporters get a wee bit tighter around the team, do as the GB do …… Support yir team!

  23. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!! Tick Tock !! on

I was really pleased with the team overall……real pace / commitment…..win the next game and we are through……mmmmmm

Well done bhoys….Hooper was offside, since Stokes actually hit the ball to him in an offside position at that point……..hope Wanyama and Ledley are OK

  24. i hope some of you had a nibble at the wee bet i put up earlier

Well said mate. I really feel like letting rip on here sometimes but Paul67 wouldn’t like it.

Also, there’s no shortage of top notch coaches who have seen it all and done it all if you pay attention to them. Which I don’t.

  26. JimmyQuinnsBits on

Against a side who were able to sign a £35m player this season… no bad

We’re beginning to click moving forward, especially in the first half. Same old problems we all know about – centre halves mainly – and Ki had a poor game. These are all things that can be sorted, through coaching and transfers. This is a young team and we’re getting better.

I wasn’t a fan of Stokes, but he’s beginning to impress me; Kayal (apart from the goal), Ledley, Forrest, Matthews, Vic, all comin on – Sammi is a magician when he’s on his game – needs to work harder off the ball.

  27. Athletico Madrid as you would expect like all Spanish teams have an uncanny ability to keep ball in the tightest of situations unlike even very few EPL sides and not forgetting a striker who cost 45 million.

We did quite well to-night and in this group in general. Can’t understand why Mulgrew did not start in central defence. Wanyama looks a very mature player for his age. Cool on the ball and always picks his passes.

    Great shift by Georgios.
