Your mask is slipping, the champions league don’t bother with aggregate scores….. Bratislava, Xmax and the Gibraltans :-)

I feel your pain and long may it last , roll on Sunday

HT we had a few chances last night that could have changed the game, thought we defended well as a team

Anyways work calling before I have a wee long weekend, roll on Sunday

  3. I’d agree that Celtic put in a decent performance although I think better (financial doping) team won and the most talented little tax fraudster in the world had a good game.

I wouldn’t be too upset if we didn’t play Barca again for about…ooooh…ten years. Maybe by that time their uppance will have come.

  4. Big Peat of Islay on

    GERRYFAETHEBRIG on 24TH NOVEMBER 2016 7:09 AM

I had you down as hawf sensible up until now.

Anyway, if you are happy with The Lawwell Project – good luck to you.

Soon we won’t have the Champion League 2000-1 shot anymore and when you’re done with enjoying Celtic v The Comedy Club, let me know, and maybe then we’ll talk about meaningful success on the park.

Please don’t embarrass yourself like a child with ‘unmasking’ and ‘hunnery’ jibes. You just make a fool out of yourself.

  5. Big Peat of Islay. Lawwell's Gravy train has left the saps at the station. on

It is a measure of how low the Celtic supporters (many of them on here) have fallen in their outlook for our Club when they see last night as a foregone conclusion and take a >> At least we got into the Champions League” << attitude.

BIG clubs' supporters would be absolutely LIVID at our position in the CL and would demand change.

What do we do? Accept it and go back to hoping for another lottery ticket next year.

  6. Morning Bhoys

I hate the Champions League but love it.

Despite defeat, nobody puts on a show like the Glasgow Celtic.

Thought we were brave, if a bit ragged at times.

Anyone could looked ragged against that mob.

Massive improvements in our play and tactical awareness from the beginning of the season.

We are destined for great things

    Of that I’m sure

  7. Gooooooood morning CQN

Still dissapointed in how some Barcelona players acted last night

    Now our team,

Like a few thought Brendan made a mistake in having McGregor play right mid, ( setting aside that like KevJ I do not rate him) I thought Lustig was constantly exposed to Barcelona attacks

Tom Rogic, is very very good with ball at his feet- for SPFL, not champions league, especially knowing he needs replaced inside 65 mins

James Forrest, I again thought was poor when he came on, first 4 or 5 touches yesterday was giving the ball to Barca

These should be squad players SPFL

And we should be looking for better players for Europe

I could add Biton, although I now think Armstrong has taken his position ?

Anyway – Brendan let’s focus on dominating Scotland for remainder of season

    Hail Hail

  8. I’ve not read back yet, but I don’t suppose I can say much that probably hasn’t been posted already , if I do, apologises .

I can understand the ref giving the penalty, but what were his ” assistants” watching ?

Suarez conned the ref, but he should been caught by either a linesman or the Chump behind the goal, or both !

At their first goal , sadly we were like statues at the pass to Messi, but I noticed that sadly Stuart Armstrong actually looked completely the wrong way at the edge of the box as Messi drifted in behind him. But the run still should have been covered .

Calum MacGregor out of his depth completely . I was praying for Brendan to sub him at half time ? Obviously the injury to Sinclair had an effect on Brendan’s options ?

Neymar ( as we all know ) has been a wee cheating greeting face ratbag for years.

Hope he does end up banged up, and then gets “banged up time and time again” every day he’s in the jail.

Don’t know if anyone noticed but when he was taking about 10 minutes to come off the pitch, the 4th official ( when ASKING) the wee runt to hurry up, it appeared that he may have said ” PLEASE” ? Strictly speaking he could have got a 2nd yellow for time wasting ?

    I should add that I’m not a lip reader,but I may be right ?

IF Scotty Sinclair is out of Sundays final, then surely Brendan will UNLEASH both DemBhoy and The Griff from the start ?

Speaking for myself , as I posted earlier in the week the final on sunday is more important than last night’s game, the chance for early silverware, and the first leg of a Treble is the priority .

In some ways it may prove to be a blessing in disguise ( for this season) that we are out of Europe ?

Obviously fewer games and travel etc.

Let’s bring home the domestic Treble Celts !

    How u doing mate ?

I’m just reading back this morning , cos I didn’t go online after the game.

Saw your post about Quins and the Crow pubs in Bishopbriggs .

I haven’t been in either for 3/4 years, but I did hear rumours that many of the Quin punters ( Celtic fans), had moved into the Crow ( despite that largely being a Hun pub ?).

Don’t know if that’s true, but I have some relatives who drink in both for many years and I do plan to catch up with them before Christmas ?

All will be revealed soon ? Lol.

    HH mate.

  11. Embarrassed by Celtic?Nah,never.Embarrassment comes from conceit and conceit’s a form of pride which is one of the seven deadly sins.

I have been, and will be again, disappointed with results and performance but never embarrassed.

Getting to the group stages was success this season.Hopefully next season will see improvement in how we perform. One step at a time.

    STARRY…

    Kip time.

    All you need is love.

    HAIL! HAIL!

  12. Morning all, still Celtic fans, are we?

If we are then we move on and take every game as a challenge to rub our naysayers noses in the shite.

The MSM are priming the optimism pump for the Gong Show at Ipox today and looking forward to the deification of McInnes on Monday.

    Let’s spoil the party.

    HH

  13. Big Peat

“It has become common currency of late for Celtic to be humped by the high and the low in Europe.

It somewhat tarnishes our reputation as an illustrious club.”

I don’t know where you have been “of late” but, as even your own figures show, you would go back to 1991 and Neuchatel Xamax, a quarter of a century ago.

I would cite, in addition 1976- Sachsenring, & Wisla Krakow, 77- Wacker Innsbruck, 80- Timisoara, 84- Rapid Vienna, 88- Bremen, 89- Partizan and years of failure to qualify before we got a toehold back in the 2nd tier of European football back in 2001 under MON.

I would also cite pre-66 when we lost badly to Valencia, MTK, Barca and Liverpool.

I would assert that we were only ever a top flight European team between 66 and 74, and even then we lost to Vojvodina, Kiev, AC, Feyenoord, Ajax, Ujpest Dosza, Atletico and Olympiacos.

There must have been a lot of cringing supporters who accepted mediocrity to allow that state of affairs, eh?

Or else supporters who realise that defeat is a possibility in every sporting encounter and, even the best, lose on occasion.

Or else, there are supporters who understand the relationship between being a high income club and the prospect of harvesting talented players to increase your chances of winning.

    Unless there are supporters who realise that non-traditional European teams like Leicester, Southampton, Malaga, Eibar, Atalanta, Chievo, Leipzig, Hoffenheim etc;

can attract players we find difficult to get because they have rich TV deals or they can provide exposure to big clubs who will spot them and buy them.

One mans’ “allowing Peter Lawwell to get away with it” is another man’s rational understanding of football finance. It does not equate to accepting your lowly place, Barca worship or CL worship or any other jibe you care to throw at it.

And those Celtic supporters who understand this do not need lessons in independent thinking or “calling a spade a spade” from someone who longs for a big strong monarch to whom he can subject his independence of thought and let him make his decisions (and name spades) for him.

    Aff into work now

  14. Big Jimmy

Sorry for butting in. Once upon a time I worked in The Crow, the crowd has been “mixed” for a while but still predominantly of the blue persuasion. The family that run it are Celtic fans.

  15. A hard audience on here since FT last night IMO.Look where we were 6 months ago? I thought our first half performance was exceptional, high pressing, great team shape, we will replace 3 or 4 in next 2 Windows. We got drawn with 2 of the favourites to win the CL, and a German team from Pot 3.Remarkable progress IMO on a net spend of £4 mil.Onwards to Sunday.

  21. I thought we played well last night. When we have got wins/draws against them previously it was usually backs to the walls, 25% possession type stuff but I thought we were brave on the ball and pressed well without it for the most part. Ultimately class told and in the end it was a comfortable victory for them. I’ve not seen the pen again but when you have a fair few on CQN looking through their very green tinted specs and saying it was, then chances are it was.

The regret is now perhaps not having more of a go at Borussia a few weeks ago in the latter stages. From memory there was a fairly split opinion on this in the immediate aftermath but leaving ourselves in a position where even 2 draws in our last 2 games would not be enough was not realistic.

I would use the Man City game to rest some players given our heavy schedule.

We are well short at this level but hopefully we can sneak into the groups again next year and if so the group stage draw may be a bit kinder.

  22. The Battered Bunnet on

Rather dismayed by the trend towards the negative in many of the posts on here following last night’s match.

I was going to post my own views, but I see Bada Bing at 9.17am has already done that for me.

Huge progress under Brendan Rodgers in the past 4 months. The direction of travel is clear and encouraging.

Ronny Deila, looking on from the stands, must have thought: “Ah… so that’s what I was trying to do.” and “Who’s that blond boy playing in centre midfield?”

  23. Badabing

Yep hard indeed tho not my starting h word.:-)

Being positive, bit of hope got Celtic thro in harder times.and its great being a fan of our club now

Your right there, good coaching, some additions and youth pushing for places

    Good to see.

  24. Big Peat- Do you think we will win the Big Cup again?….me neither. We can go in to all the money side of football all day if we want to.We know where we are right now, that for me is an improving young team with a top class manager, who has only been here 5 months. Not sure if you went to games in last 2 seasons, or further back under Macari,Brady,Mowbray ? I can see huge potential at the Club these days, and we are on the up.Do i think we could win the Europa League…….? Yes, in a couple of years time, when Brendan has his own team assembled. My glass is half full right now.HH

What would our leverage be though?

    _—————————_

There is always a way. There are experienced guys on here that have bloodied themselves in Celts For Change etc.

Basically the problem is, we have an owner who has us as a wee pet. And PL looks after the wee pet.

  26. GERRYFAETHEBRIG 7.09.

Your comment was/is spot on mate, like the excellent post by SETTING FREE !

IF anyone was to simply apply Celtic’s ” aggregate” scorelines from a LEAGUE FORMAT as the poster ” PEAT” was implying, then I have to say that logic is beyond me ?

I’m sure you will agree with this example GFTB , well hopefully ? Lol.

” Celtic play 6 games in CL format ”

IF Celtic won their 3 home games 5-0, but lost their 3 away games 6-0, we would be left with 9 points.

So our so called ” aggregate score ” would be FOR 15….AGAINST 18.

The other 3 teams in all likelihood would take points from each other, or maybe two of them would ?

Again in that scenario, theres a good chance that Celtic would qualify for the last 16 of the CL, or at least Eurooa League having accured NINE points ?

Therefore, it’s beyond me why any so called Celtic fan such as ” PEAT of Islay”, would want for us all to even consider any so called ” aggregate score “, that has no bearing whatsoever in a league format ?

GFTB, Im with you mate on this one.

I think I have only been in the Crow 4/5 times since the 1970s, so as I posted earlier the rumours that I had heard in the last year or so, are just that….rumours ?

I will be trying to catch up in the next couple of weeks with some family and auld associates that I have especially from Quins, so I’ll find out then no doubt ?

But, isn’t it true that the Crow has a oldco/Sevco bus that runs from it for several years ?
