I take it you are having a pop at me regarding Calum mcgergor but sorry mate he was posted missing again tonight in another big game., and was like a rabbit in the headlights with his big chance. Brendan must see something but for me his decision making when in possession was poor again, just my honest opinion. Hope he improves because like I said in my initial post I like the lad. Overall I was proud of our performance but personally I was disappointed with Callum’s performance because I think he is capable of better……

I think the Barca ‘love in’ is over.
Barca
– They’re better than us – of course they are. The movement of their front 3 is simply breathtaking.
– They’re also far more streetwise than us.
– very cynical in the tackle when they need to be and I’ll politely say ‘cute’ when tackled (Suarez….wink wink).
Celtic
– all about learning. Our disappointment at losing to Barca in the CL itself speaks volumes of progress.
– still a wee bit too nice for me. I’d like to have let Naymar, Messi et al know they were in a physical contest.
– individual player wise…..not gonna be too critical.
– thought overall Sviatchenko, Brown, Simunovic, Sinclair, Gordon and Armstrong did well (although Armstrong did out us in the brown stuff with misplaced passes
– need to be a bit more clinical. Imagine Macgregor chance went in away to BMG and Dembele header is in tonight?? Campaign might look a bit different.
Last word – Neymar……..nae class!

Just back from the game. Random thoughts:
* Thought we acquitted ourselves well. We passed well, supported team-mates, and defended stoutly. We weren’t afraid to tackle and mix it.
* Armstrong, Brown, Izzy, Lustig and Jozo were our best players. Some outstanding work from them.
*The loss of Sinclair hurt us – though I thought Forrest did well.
* BR will have learned a lot, and with better luck of the draw next time we could easily qualify out of the group stage again.
* Messi is a class act, and one of the best to ever play the game.
* Naymar and Surez, however, are both horrible, horrible players. Neymar in particular was a disgrace from first to last, fouling, diving, niggling. Dreadful advert for the professional game.
* Overall, the love affair with Barca perplexes me no end. As far as I can see they are a financial bully, part of a rapacious euro-elite intent on carving up the game for themselves and their mates. The club seems to be defined by a chauvinistic, conservative nationalism perfectly suited to our age. No wonder the medievalist monarchs of Qatar love them.
No I wasn’t, it was a collective thing, they are the best the world has to offer, the referees are on their side as well, another hurdle which we should be well aware of, but we just have to take it on the chin FFS.
The players he was up against tonight could fetch anything up to 30-50 mill £s, yet posters are happy to compare our players to that, again…………………A Do Despair, and nothing personal, just a collective thing.

Bit of an odd night. We played well for an hour at least with Craig G , Broony and the two centre backs were excellent but in the end Barca won pretty comfortably.Messi really is a great player and their two centre backs are class but the rest of the team seems a step or two down from the other Barca teams I’ve seen including the ones we beat. But they are still much better, much smarter than us.
I think overall this section was far too strong for us – in a year’s time with a couple more signings of equal calibre to Brendan’s first three as well as the manager’s methods becoming more deep rooted and we’d have be in the mix in any section but this one has been just too difficult.
But we are better than we were 10 weeks ago when we started and the games where we drew were great.
Disappointed and all that but disheartened? No chance.

No problem buddy I just want us to be the best we can and you are correct when you say the many hurdles we have be aware of. They are a great team but are going through a transformation just now but with that strike force they get away with it. Just look how deep they come to receive the ball. Just a couple of points at the end of another frustrating and disappointing evening.
The opening skirmishes go as one largely anticipates. Then we get a corner. Thoughts go to Charlie Mulgrew’s sublime corner to the head of Victor Wanyama, and resultant ecstasy. Then reality hits. We have Simunovitch, Lustic and Sviatchenko all up and either Armstrong or Sinclair ( I couldn’t see which) hits it limply about 4 feet high to the first defender. Simply shocking technique, and it has been apparent all season.
Secondly, McGregor’s abysmal trundling sclaff at goal with his best foot. Apart from Commons and Griffiths, we have no one who has the timing to hit the ball hard. Our shooting is simply woeful.
It could have been worse. Gordon had one superb save. I believe Barca hit the post a couple of times. Lastly, why on earth did no one go with Messi’s run for the first goal? Suicide. The only home team of eight tonight to lose. Fortress Celtic Park is becoming a memory.
Finally – Bitton is slower than a week in jail. He simply could not cope with the lightning quick Barca players. Sorry, but no future for him at Celtic Park.
Heads went down after the second, same as Moenchengladbach game. Contrast that with the Besiktas effort after going three down to Benfica earlier.
Overall, not a bad performance, but we have to learn from it, or just make the same mistakes next season.

Just back, freezing. Thought Brown was our MOTM with the centre backs not far behind. Armstrong and McGregor both played well. If we can get a No. 10 to play behind Dembele, and if we’re greedy a central midfielder to play beside Brown, then we won’t be far away from having a team who will qua for CL and be fighting for 2nd/3rd spot in group.

There is a huge step up for our players in Europe in comparison to the calibre of opponent we face in Scotland.
I think it shows most with Rogic as he seems to lack the speed of thought so gets less success against smarter players.

Great words from Moussa tonight,
He has been linked with a money-spinning move to Arsenal, Paris St Germain or one of the other big clubs on the continent, but Dembele said last night that he wasn’t planning to go anywhere. It is the kind of news which will hearten most Celtic fan.
“That is what everyone is saying but I haven’t said that,” said Dembele, picked up for a paltry £400,000 from Fulham last summer. “For me, I am here until the end of my contract and for many years. It is not something I think about. I don’t listen to those stories.
“I want to keep playing in the Champions League and keep playing in the Champions League for Celtic first,” added the French Under-21 international. “Because I think I will stay here 100 per cent. I want to keep improving and keep developing as a player.”
You have got to be kidding you denigrate almost every Celtic player and opportunity tonight and then end with “overall not a bad performance”
