  1. Arrgh! Just when we were on the cusp!

Gutted we didn’t get a draw (at least) – proud that we showed European teams that they won’t get it easy at Celtic Park in coming fixtures.

    Onwards and upwards………………………

    H!H!

  2. I think we were robbed, but you can’t give teams like Bayern a one goal start. For me a draw would have been honourable and just, but we could have beaten them!

We will take a lot more from this than Bayern.

Great to see some real heart from Celtic at this level.

Now on to Paris – I fancy all three points!

  3. Celtic Champs Elect on

Awesome performance especially from James Forrest and young Kieran broony in fact every player was IMMENSE well perhaps not Gordon Just if just if Stuart sticks that away I actually think we would have beat them. Sit back and get them flights book this is another Seville on its way only we will win the UEFA cup this time

  4. We continue to progress, excellent.

Disappointed to lose, but not with the performance.

Jamesy take a bow and K.T you too, you were not far behind him.

Everone else a round of applause.

    Hail Hail

  5. 3 home grown players stood out from all the rest to tonight. Tierney, McGregor and our man of the match Forrest.

Brilliant game, brilliant performance, bad result.

And, the referee was exceptionally good too.

  6. Supersutton 9.59.

    A very valid point.

    Ref was outstanding.

Not often I say that when we lose. (If at all before now )

    Hail Hail

  7. GreeninbingleyinOslo on

Well done the Bhoys. A superb performance tonight. Wonderful.

    We should have won that.

But the great thing about Brendan is next year if we draw them, we probably will.

Armstrong, Dembele and Sinclair didn’t play particularly well, which, in a way, is encouraging given how well the team performed.

  9. Big step forward.

We played well enough to feel disappointed.

An excellent performance wins that game.

    A good performance draws.

    An unlucky one loses.

We had enough vlass tp really worry them.

We have enough talent to compete at this level.

We lack a bit of confidence and a lot of attitude — we are a half yard from being a good team.

We lost for one reason — we do not have enough on field nous to keep working the ball to JF in good positions.

Apart from the hand ball. Maybe he was relying on the clown behind the goal line.

  11. Brendan says some of the criticism the team have had from fans is incredible.

    Celtic “fans” no doubt.

good to see a ref who can control a game.

    ————

I agree, I thought the Dutch ref was excellent.

  14. I said at half time I was pleased with the ref apart from him and his helpers missing the handball in the build up to their first goal, that was a hard to take, but them’s the breaks at this level, the big teams get them.

  15. “Stable in terms of where we are at”

    “Criticism incredible”

    “Improving and developing”

    BR.

One error, we might not win the CL, but the phrase should be we may not win it again.

    Just being picky though:-)

The good teams do it to us.

We are just a bit self ondulgent spreading it about a bit.

If anyone who didnt know the two teams, tuned into the game tonight, they would be hard pushed to pick the team thats worth a combined total of some 3/4 ofa billion from the team that was assembled for what, 13m?

Proud of every single one of the players, the manager, coaches and the fans. The wstching world would have been blown away by that.

    HH

  18. Ernie, do you know anything about the game?

Dembele ran the Bayern defence all over the park, Scottie defended very well and made himself available, Stuart had a great game! Missed a chance, sure, then got back there to try again!

    11 performances make a team.

  19. Couldn’t be prouder of that effort. So many great performances, Lustig, Brown, Boyata. The three young home grown players, McGregor and Jamesy were immense and as for KT, words fail me with that boy. Genuinely one of the best displays I have ever seen in a Celtic jersey.

  20. Best performance in CL for a long. We deserved a draw at the very least. Thought many of our players realised they are good enough at this level. Our manager is incredible.

Where is the Europa Cup FInal?

  21. very encouraging the progress we have displayed in our performance tonight , but if only we were a bit more savvy at the back , would a proper cb made a difference , imo yes i think so.

Armstrong, Dembele and Sinclair didn’t play particularly well, which, in a way, is encouraging given how well the team performed.

Armstrong- run his guts out and should have scored IMO he played well

Sinclair- worked hard defensively not musmch going forward deserved to be subbed

Dembele- just coming back to full fitness worked hard not much to feed off IMO was on the money from Armstrong pass but Alaba make a fantastic clearance

  24. Jamesy, Calmac and KT, home grown Champions League players, outstanding tonight.

Unforgiving at this level but we went toe to toe and we’re the better team, just a little less experience than Bayern.

    Fancy us for Europa League.

  25. Fine margins indeed.

And a smidgen of bad luck.

James Forrest best ever performance in a Celtic jersey. Well done that bhoy.

I am proud, but gutted all the same.

    Like Seville.

Ernie, do you know anything about the game?

    ##

Certainly more than anyone who thinks that Dembele, Sinclair and Armstrong played well tonight.

  27. Phil, thanks.

I have had many discussions with Ernie, have agreed and disagreed, like with all other CQNers, I’ll argue the points.

Just seem Man U get a big club penalty, jeez

  28. CultsBhoy- Last of the famous international PlayBhoys on

Good thing is we know where we need to I to consolidate progress…

Centre half and a Centre half… Also Craig Gordon can be improved..get him off his line..improve his distribution.

    These are very doable improvements

  29. Interesting to see where we go from here.

Buy better players or try the Wizard of Oz strategy?

That is work with what we have but make them better.

SA still has lots to do to make him the player he could be. He could be a stand out in a much better team than we are today.

TR needs a boot up the erse.

Tjen an arm on the shoulder followed by another boot up the erse.

JF needs to watch tonights performance ad infinitum plus a course in decision making and lessons on how not to stand on the ball.

    CMcG needs a brain.

LG needs to win his battles.

KT needs a better touch with his left.

Basic stuff but we lost because these little things let us down

They dont let teams like BM down.

  30. I am disapointed. We deserved at least a draw. Very silly mistake for the first goal and a switch off of concentration for their second.

That been said, it was a huge step up from our performance in Munich.

Some outstanding individual performances, namely ; Forrest, best game in ages. Lustig, brilliant , certainly helped by Forrests defensive abilities. Brown and Tierney, as expected. Boyata, apart from the goal and Nir Bitton. He could be a world standard player if he wasnt so lethargic. He tore the Germans a new arse on two occasions, including winning the ball for our goal.

Disapoited yes, but it was a great performance. I have been wanting a run at the Europa Cup for some time now.

Let us see how we cope against the clubs that are not financially doped .

Well if there was a Forrest Gump award for running your guts out he might be in with a shout. He should have scored. He didn’t. Games against teams like Bayern turn on moments like that.

  32. Ernie, sharp:-)

But no, there is more to the game than a flair player doing their thing, team work and grafting, which they all did well.

Sinclair did this very well, Stuart at times made inroads and made a chance or two.

    The rest were just outstanding.
