Why does Kenny Miller remind me of Arjen Robben? And why does Arjen Robben remind me of Kenny Miller?

Is it their similar hairstyles? Have either of them ever had hair? So many questions…

    Goodnight Celts everywhere…

  2. Cosy Corner Bhoy on

No Celtic supporter could complain at the overall performance of the team tonight. A disappointing result but surely not a disappointing performance.

Some may not have played as well as other,cf Forrest and Sinclair, but we were up against class.

A few wee tears of joy when we equalised but too short a time to get a real greet before getting soon a wee bit again three minutes later!!

Best referee I’ve seen in years even though he might have missed a handball. They should show the lot we have a recording to let them know ‘How to referee’ and that’s after we lost!!

For soon read doon Keep forgetting it disnae dae Scoattish!

  3. Celtic were absolutely superb tonight and definitely deserved a draw. It was great to see Celtic hold on to the ball for long spells against such a team that has been going to the latter stages of this tourney for years, they obviously held on to the ball for long spells as well. Tonight it looked to me, to be a massive step in Brendans team and Belief to play Football in the right way against the very best

After the goal, when “I just can’t get enough” was being sung, the ground was literally vibrating.

    Magical Celtic, just Magical.

The Best thing about it, Celtic have just learned so much more.

I’ll get slaughtered for this but even though the win against Barcelona was so so special, tonight’s performance outshone it in so many ways.

3 academy players were our best players tonight, they ran their hearts out trying to get us the result we deserved.

Their time will come, along with those waiting in the wings of our academy. Good times are coming bhoys and ghirls you just have to believe in St Brendan.

Last sleep then I get to see my youngest, life is wonderful and the future is green and white.

  5. Not long since home but could not head for the land of nod without saying hats off to Nir Bitton, brave performance tonight. He could yet make it!

Ok now I can go to bed. Some night.

  6. INVINCIBLE 'GG on

    Eventful day, evening and night.

I just don’t understand the negative comments.

    Sure we weren’t perfect.

Sure we made some mistakes at both ends.

    Sure we dropped three points.

    Sure we were only MAGNIFICENT

Sure we only had three of the best performers on the night in Tierney, Brown and Dorrest.

Sure Lustig wasn’t too bad either.

    So regardless of the outcome

Regardless of all our shortcomings that game was worthy of the Chamions League.

    Worthy of our brilliant support.

So for real Celtic fans tonight was a night to celebrate.

Enjoy Brendan has achieved in a relatively short time with a side mainly comprising those who under performed under Ronny.

Let’s express our JOY in the BHOYS.

  7. Oh BTW Tolisso, was an incredible player in Lique 1, going by FiFas Ultimate teams.

Delighted to be seeing the Celts play again, waited 2 hours to see the PROPER TEAM, again.

    Where is the Genesis?

    TOMMY BURNS.

Game six in LA is into the top of the 6th inning.Houston remember lead 3-2 in the best of 7 game series.

All is on the line for LA.

In the middle of the 6th Houston lead 1-0.

Dodgers are hanging on as Houston left players on base in a couple of innings, three in the 5th and 2 in the 6th.

Dodgers up next in the bottom of the 6th, needing some inspiration as Verlander has picked them apart tonight.

Has anyone noticed that Hibs quietly crept into 3rd place in the SPFL with a 3-0 win at home to Kilmarnock?

  11. SANDMAN DEFINITIVE RATINGS:

    Source no other.

‘If there’s one thing I like about the Sandman, it’s his definitive ratings; makes whiny biatches look like the attention-seeking pricks they are’ – CQN regular.

‘I love the Sandman like a brother. I would give up my wife and her sister, ocassionally, to read just one misinformed, unclultured soundbite he’s attributed to a single-player estimation. EVEN though I think everything else he scribes is pish…’ – Another educated CQN contributer.

‘If the Sandman;’s selling ANYTHING – you should buy it. I would; like, in a f###ing instant.’ – CQN luminary.

RATINGS : ( not for lurking Huns – you have your own discussion forums; discussing how shite you really are. And I mean shite. Totally. Never-ever-sniffing-the-Champions-League-ever-again-shite. Live with it, Billy-Boy… Copyright Pennywise, IT 2017…’

    GORDON – 8/10

Big mhan perseveres with his given edict – “play it out, play it out” ‘; and he did so all night, and with more accuracy and confidence than in Munich; like a brothel lad tasked with slapping wasted hookers awake amid a dockland swamped with rabid seamen – steady – he kept his cool and balanced his distribution to allay serious pressure. On the team. Not the whorehouse…

    LUSTIG – 8.5/10

How often did you hear the beloved Hun phrase, “Robben is tearing Celtic apart”? Or Coman is tearing Celtic apart”?

Yup. Superstar DJs nullified on both sides thanks to the efforts of Mick and KT. Stepping right up to the plate (baseball fans…) our full-backs went toe-to-toe and nailed their men. (Must I throw in a Kenneth Willians here, Carry-On sentimentalists?)

You’ll see this post duplicted for KT.

    KT – 8.5/10

I told you so. Defined. But with 6 years of Wonka Bars and candy added; Wee mhan gave up his halloween trick -or-treating to play tonight, and don’t you cynics forget such a sacrifice. Played scared out his wits in case Ribery showed up.

“There’s no such thing as Satan and ghouls and the risen undead…” Aye right ye are, Scottish fitba’ and Govan observers…

    BITTON – 6/10

FIRST. FIRST f###ing thing they teach you at an advanced defensive level – and I’m speaking here from my own paucity of learning – Yes, even that ancient bygone coaching – is that WHEN you are the combative centre-back and the situation is developing down the wing then YOUR job is to get close to the prospective attacking player and use your physicality to hinder his attempt to play the ball; i f###ing e – see the cross coming in and man-mark/block the forward’s space to stop him getting a free header.

Jozo would have stopped the goal.

Big Nir didn’t/couldn’t because it’s not his natural position and he didn’t have the instinct to back into the striker and use his physicality to prevent a clear header.

In such seconds, and by such fine margins, CL games are won and lost.

    BOYATA – 5/10

FIGHT! Sunday League team scrap simulation app designed by Dedryck made available for all to play! – download now and slag-off your hungover team-mate for not jumping a couple of feet off the dug-jobby-and-used-condom-ridden-sparsely-grassed-municipal-pit to cut out the opposition keeper’s languid diagonal punt up the park to nobody in particular.

Wince! As your rambunctuous centre-back belies all his pre-match bollocks by poofing-out of a straightforward header.

Grind Teeth! As he scrambles back to claim a handball against the fortunate opposition forward who was so amazed he latched onto the aimless hoof that he forgot he wasn’t playing handball in a parochial German high school and nicked it round your bewildered goalkeeper – not as half-bewildered as we were at him appearing 20 yards out of position, yet forgiven due to the universal abject shock of the defending – under the nose of the fifth – or sixth, or whit the f#ck do they ever do – ‘official’ who saw f#ck-all as usual, as the ball was slid into the net.

    Man. Dear, oh, dear.

    BROON – 8/10

There. Everywhere. Manfully combative and composed – and SOLO for many, many minutes against some of the world’s best. How underrated is Broon? If Cindy Crawford lay there like a sack of tatties and it was Kylie jostling the billiards while you gave it Full Metal Jacket boot camp; Broonie is Kylie – the unseen fenian hand dictating the play…

Aye… That metaphor might be lost on a few… Right, on we go, quickly…

    ARMSTRONG – 7/10

Put. It. In. The. F#’##ing. NET!

    Nope. He didn’t.

Fine line, eh. Glory or inglorious bastard; Stuarty – DESPITE his GREAT hair, and I’m not discounting the probability of it getting in his eyes at the crucial moment – had his almost career-defining-moment early doors and… Well, he screwed it like a McCoist on a Scottish News presenter; lame, cheesy, a sordid attempt to poke it home, blighted by the momentary realisation of where he was and the ramifications of him focussing completely on the job at hand. A fantastic opportunity for historic glorification missed – instead remembered as another nearly-man, a fluffer without the fluff.

And Armstrong did just as poorly.

But his energy was pretty decent for the rest of his participation in the game.

    McGregor – 8.5/10

That touch,. That fluidity. That composure at this level – what an improvement in this bhoy over a season.

I feel like some pirate ship captain who’s cursed the cabin boy to a life of servitude but sees him emerge under tutelage of skilfull adversaries to become a real threat to my self-indulgent reputation as a canny judge of a swashbuckler. He’s wielded that cutlass so well in recent times I must admit to misgivings and lower the black to suspend my ill-informed critique of a player proving himself deserving of the Hooped colours at every level. Black Sails CSC.

    Forrest – 9/10

The Prestick Pele will defy his Hun heritage and endorse himself as a lethal weapon best employed directly and penetratively (check that one out, controversial word fan pedants, I haven’t even googled it yet…)

Man of the Match, an exciting and dynamic performance from Jamsie – what a player when his confidence is up; no lethal weapon jokes in this post, Prestwick ladies…

If you’re a boo-bhoy who previously gave him stick… LMAO; you’re such a tosser. LMAO again, just to wind you up in the most childish way possible.

    DEMBELE – 7/10

All game, kept waiting for more from Moussa; just a slight edge off his play yet – a match-sharpness thing we hope. Right to go with him ahead of Sparky, he does possess a top-class ability that will come through in time, big-time.

    SINCLAIR – 6/10

My one annoyance of the night. Yes, he laboured. Yes, he did little of positive impact… BUT, BR was WRONG to sub him – Bayern paid close attention to him, given the problems he caused in Munich second-half ; and we waited for the ONE moment he could get loose – that moment was most likely going to come late on as concentration slipped,

BUT BR took him off; a poor mistake – those magic feet had a couple of late tricks in them – as we know – and by taking him out the game we lost a precious element that could have turned it in our favour. DAMMIT, BR!

    SUBS – 6/10

Meh. Nobody made a telling impact.

    BR – 8/10

Aside from my opinion on the premature Sincy substitutuion – which is obviously correct… – he again stuck to his princiles, went precariously toe-to-toe with a truly top-level side and almost got a justified reward – we were good for a draw and so was BR’s faith in his ideology.

    OVERALL – 7.5/10

The Bhoys went for it against a great Bayern team, blew it in classic Sunday-League styl-ee, and were unfortunate not to get the point their bravery on the ball deserved.

With a fine-tuned tempo and greater concentration we may have been in it to win it but I felt total belief was still ulimately lacking – something the top sides have in spades and which we must attempt to match despite our deficiencies; we can learn to combat their arrogance and force them into more errors.

However, viva us. That Europa could be some adventure next year. I’m thinking Lisbon 17 but with even more beautiful women and less ugly partying reprobate roasters… Present company excluded… ;))

Hollywood will be out in force tomorrow night

    All Saints Day

To see the first Game 7 in Dodgers’ Stadium.

But it won’t match Celtic Park for noise, atmosphere or passion.

Good night and please spare a thought and a prayer for those families who have lost loved ones in the attack in Downtown Manhattan earlier.

  14. Just in from the game and wanted to post

so proud of our team and our supporters tonight

Truly a club like no other Hail Hail

  15. Well said Dena29!

Only have council telly and didn’t hear all of the radio commentary due to guisers and our daughter studying for maths at the kitchen table but it sounded like a great game and a great atmosphere.

  16. Good morning CQN from a cool, overcast but dry East Devon.

Great performance last night, shame about the result, we deserved something from the game.

We Jamsie comes of age, onwards and upwards.

Only gripe was the time it took me to get 5 mikes home from Celtic Park

11.30 before we got home so in future I’ll be going back into town for a late night drink with the rest of the bhoys n ghirls

  18. That defeat last night felt different from most CL defeats. We were not outplayed, outfought or out-thought. We did not look out of place against vastly superior opposition. We did not lose our composure or collapse when we went behind.

All great signs for further progress.

Thank you Brendan and thank you to the Board who are playing a stormer.

  19. Apologises to some of the Bhoys on here that I couldn’t make it out of the house yesterday ( yet again) due to sickness, and make the session in the BV. I have been unwell for over a month or so…one day feeling ok…and then 7/10 days of sickness.

Hope to catch up on 11/11 ?

So I was stuck with the radio last night for the match, and I only caught about 8 minutes of highlights on youtube this morning. From what Ive heard, read and seen of the game Celtic were superb, and this young Celtic team and Brendan and his backroom staff should receive full some praise.

With a wee bit of luck Celtic AND playing as they did last night… could go very far in the Europa League ?

One point I would like to make in relation to Bayerns 2nd goal….Bitton was a bit unlucky really cos he was attempting a ” standing jump”…where as the Bayern lad had a wee run at the ball…hence why he “towered” over Bitton.

In ANY game of football…at ANY level…the player who has a “run” at the cross…opposed to a defender attempting a standing jump…. is always going to be favourite to win it.

If we think back to some of the “Headed” goals that wee Jinky and wee Johnny Doyle scored in domestic and European games, they scored simply because they had ” a wee run at the ball” despite being up against BIGGER opponents.

The Bayern lad who scored their 2nd goal appeared to me to be a lot TALLER than wee Jinky and/or Johnny D…..hence why the Bayern lad was always favourite to win that header.

To slag off Bitton for that imo…is simply feckin daft.

    Rant over.

I’m away for another lie doon…..just wish I hadn’t given the Butler and the Maid the same day aff…cos I need food.

    HH

  20. Still buzzing from last night despite the disappointment.

There are areas where we can seek improvement but that is a really good performance against a Bayern team whose replacements cost real money that we cannot dream of.

Niklas Sule was taken from Hoffenheim for an undisclosed fee described as a”a fair and serious agreement “. James Rodriguez cost serious money to take on loan from Real. Rafinha cost 6 million euros 6 years ago. Tolisso cost over 40 million euros and the goalie was bought from Stuttgart. All the rest play regularly

  21. Well done Celtic – strange feeling this morning – we lost but as Pedro would say – it was a win.

  22. 10 European ties this season, 9 different central defensive combinations. A different pairing for each of our group stage games. Sort that out and we have a team capable of going far in the Europa League.

  23. One of the best defeats I’ve ever enjoyed.

And Sandman @ 2.41am – a poster like no other! Brilliant.

    Work calling….
