  1. We played well tonight it’s just a shame we could not hold on to the draw. Balance of team was far better, good numbers in the centre of the pitch which allowed Kt and Forrest a wee bit more freedom to attack.

We could do with better kickouts, passing from the Gk and there is no doubt we miss an imposing centreback or two.

However, Rome was not biluilt in a day. Lots of progress has been made over the last 18 months and hopefully we see improvements to the weaker area of the park moving forward.

We can’t just spend, spend, spend which means we have to work within a tight budget and reshape the squad over a longer period.

Hopefully thar reshaping will go hand in hand with a few more academy boys progresss into the first team squad to help supplement a smaller squad of quality players.

    Proud tonight despite the defeat.

  2. Ernie- games are different from telly to being there, Armstrong recovered from a bad early miss and showed a great attitude and played really well IMO.Dembele ran his arse off, with little service , we need to learn to play balls in for him to control and get other bhoys into the play further up the park.

    Dont be silly. It’s fine

Most people can see and appreciate what Brendan is doing

Anyone complaining about this team is just daft

So don’t let the dafties chase you away

Italiabhoy…when the ref is good and let’s the game flow without being picky or a ‘look at me’ drama queen, then the players respond to that and get on with the game. Were there any cards tonight? It was a game contested fairly with very little moaning about decisions…hence Robben played, didn’t dive and got a good reception from the fans when subbed…good to see!…

  5. CRB57, I was saying to CRC today that I’m not sure. I’ve been up and down that road a few times over the last couple of weeks and back down this Friday to make sure that my lovely wife gets on that plane to Brunei on Saturday. I also need to take into account driving back on Sunday 12th. A pity it’s not the following weekend as I have my appointment in the Vicky on the Monday to review my lug.

    We’ll see.

aye kev, you can play the Celtic way or the Jose way, you made your choice long ago, you have not been a Celtic man since the jungle was pulled down, you must have a sad life

  7. Listening to the Brendan interviews over the weekend and his comments on having a tommy burns memory and moment with him everyday, is tb legacy from the academy’s now coming to fruition.

3 Lennox town buoys in a champions league team.

    Who is next graduates ?

Games like Killie, never before has a manager got the luxury of picking the kids and bedding them in.

    Keep it lit.

  8. A much improved and spirited performance tonight by our team. As a supporter I cannot ask for anymore. Hh.

  9. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan on

    Good Evening.

I am just back home from what can only be described as a fantastic advert for the game of football.

That was an excellent game to watch and we were right in it throughout.

It is always disappointing to lose, especially when you give away at least one very cheap goal (a centre half should never allow the ball to bounce) and fail to take the odd golden chance.

    BUT.

Celtic Football Club should always seek to have its name in the hat with the biggest and best teams and to be able to give them a game, especially at Celtic Park.

I know Bayern were not at full strength but in the vast majority of leagues, a club would pay through the nose to be able to field a team of that quality.

I thought we played well, were astutely set up and had some great performances with James Forrest having the game of his life.

However, mention also has to be made of the atmosphere away from the field of play. I thought the Bayern fans were excellent in town today and in and around Celtic Park tonight. They mingled, sang, supported and were a credit to their club.

Our own fans were exceptional tonight and at the goal we nearly took the roof off.

Football fans in this country as denegrated, labelled, tarred and criminalised with very little attention being paid to their value and the money they bring in to the economy. We also hear lots when something goes wrong with fan interaction, and bloody little when fans get on well, have fun and live in a true world of friendship, fair sport and genuine good nature.

Hopefully somewhere some journalist will record that this was a great game of football and that the atmosphere among fans was top class. Hopefully some politicos will read it and understand it too!

Lastly, it was good to briefly see The Winning Captain tonight and it is always a privilege and a pleasure to bump into The Angel Gabriel of this parish who is one of life’s natural and truly good guys.

I should also mention that I was sitting in the seat which truly belongs to St Martin’s Bhoy and I sincerely hope that the same plastic feels the warmth of his buttocks in the very near future in which case I will retire back to the North Stand and the infernal whitterings of Malorbhoy!

Good Night, God Bless & Hail Hail.

  10. SAINT STIVS

The often maligned Lennoxtown is starting to produce.

This shows the foresight of the clubs management.

The future is bright and once guys like Miller.Ralston,Johnstone and a few others gain experience we will have a team full of players we normally could not afford.

  11. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

Only got as far as P14 so far, which is cool. Hardly a dissenting voice.

Were we bloody unlucky tonight, aye. Of course we were. Though they could probably scored a third if we scored a second. Like Man City last seasonnn

Did we come up short in quality? Aye,ffs it was Bayern we were playing.

Was anyone on the pitch tonight better than James Forrest?

    Tchah,course there was.

Scott Brown utterly bossed that game. Aye,a strange thing to see but a pleasure to witness.

  12. Stivs- I missed the big game tonight ((I always miss the good ones!!) but I caught a bit of the U19 game. What I saw was a good level of technical ability from the young Hoops. It looks like we have a bright future in that regard. The long game is paying off. Scottish Football and not just celtic will benefit.

  13. As regards Robben, it looks as if he has now grown up and is the player he always should have been. No more diving! Nothing rips ma knitting more than a consummate player having such wonderful skill but finds the need to dive.

Take note Neymar ya cheating wee hun.

  14. RR,,

Parallels between the 19s and the top team game.

Same result, and Celtic the better team in both.

  15. Just back home after a great game of football , disappointed to get beat but thought we were excellent tonight , if Armstrong scores early on who knows , it might have been a game changer, but still proud of the performance !!

  16. A fantastic goal superbly created by James Forrest and supremely executed by Callum McGregor. ‘I’d walk a million miles for one of your goals oh Celtic’. Hh

  17. We started quite well and then got much better.

JF – so glad to see him getting the credit here that his performance so richly deserved.

CalMac looking like a weedgie iniesta

Broonie…..if he wasn’t Scottish and wearing the hoops the msm would salivate at his imperious performances

KT – just junior world class as usual.

So disappointed at the calamitous first goal and the second that was begging for a keeper to come off his line and wipe out everything in his way.

That said, progress hugely evident and a real sense of pride at challenging a team whose bus probably i St more than our entire squad.

    Ref – excellent.

Home support – a credit to football

    Away support (see home support)

Finally, good to see Robben getting the ovation he deserved for being the player he can be.

Not long home and a quick run through key moments of game before trying to get some sleep.

Unbelievably proud of our players tonight.

This was the night Brendan’s Bhoys became Men.

    Hail Hail.

Some of those Bayern fans have done their homework with the banner which said “repeal the OBA” or words to that effect.

  20. BRTH- got back to the car to hear the Shortbread commentator…..could not be more disparaging, ‘eliminated’, experimental Bayern team…’ Tom English was the opposite,

Just watched the recording of the game after coming home. What a fantastic performance. You miss so much when caught up in the moment being at the game.

I thought Forrest had a good game; watching it back, he was imperious . Brown and McGregor were also exceptional. Nir Bitton had a great game at the back and was instrumental at the goal – a 60 yard run to make a tackle at the Bayern penalty area started the goal. one off.

To me (apart from Dedrycks brain fart) the Keeper was the only weak link; his kicking surrenders too much possession. That cannot be afforded at ECL level.

Overall, delighted at the performance. We have made so much progress under Brendan Rodgers!

Prestonpans Bhoy, some of the Green Brigade have connections with the Bayern Ultras which might explain the OBAF banners in our two games against them.

My son is just back and normally takes a home european defeat badly but he was fine when he got home . He was realy proud of us on and off the pitch tonight.

I concur; Robben is a fantastic player and played in the true spirit of the game!

OH, AND BOTH SETS OF FANS WERE PHENOMENAL.

In the standing section it’s hard to gauge the atmosphere in the ground, but listening to the wall of sound on BT Sport was fantastic!

  25. PB- a great night except for the usual Scottish hun media, ….happy with their 4 page pull outs of Kenny Misser scoring 2 goals….

I think we will be even more popular with German football fans now . I woudnt be surprised if we were more popular in Germany than we are here apart from parts of Hamburg of course.

Seeing the replays of Stuart’s missed chance , he may have been put off by the Bayern defender’s attempted interception of the cross ball.

All this stuff about Bayern b team mince, we had Jozo and Patrick missing . Patrick not playing meant James had a chance and boy did he take it.
