  1. Just in from game, absolutely brilliant atmosphere and the team played brilliant.I would quite happily watch us play like that in every European game and see what it brings.Away to read back while watching highlights:-)))

  2. Pog, for me it’s the journalists!

You’d think they would be busy delivering reports etc!

The difference in the Celtic performance between the two legs is down to attitude. It was defective in the first leg. It was there tonight. Nothing to do with money.

Its a pity Brendan Rodgers doesn’t lurk on here.

He could learn so much about the game

Might even get a date with Heidi Klum

  5. What is the Stars; or our opponents raise their game against Celtic (like our Bhoys did against BM tonight), but not against the other SPL teams… and they play a more expansive game against lesser teams, thus leaving themselves wide open to counter-attacks.

It never ceases to amaze me how many top class managers are out of work and while away their hours posting on CQN

    ……….

Is Billy Davies still on CQN? :-)

  7. Meanwhile back in the land of reality, well done Celtic for that sterling performance against one of the world’s truly great teams. Great to see home grown talent developing, from a nation of only 5 million people, into accomplished players, especially against a team from a country in excess of 80 million.

Well done Bredan, I think we need to offer you a 6 year contract.

  8. Evening all

    Just home.

Hard to know what to make of tonight. I thought that tonight was the best we have played in the Champions League under Brendan R- not as pulsating a match as the City game 13 months ago perhaps but more poised than in any of the previous 9 games. The three lads who came through the academy were superb, Broomy was a great leader and nobody played badly. Fantastic atmosphere. Great seeing us going toe to toe with a member of football’s aristocracy. Maybe the best I have seen us play in a European game that we lost.

The thing is though we did lose snd that is the most important thing. Players who had otherwise exemplary matches made errors at both ends of the pitch which cost us goals for us and against us. It could and maybe should have been better.

But seeing guys like Kieran T, James Forrrest and Callum Mac more than holding their own in such company was something to behold.

First and foremost, that was a super game. Really enjoyed it. If, as alleged, there were 17 EPL representatives at the game watching Keiran and Moussa, then they surely must have added the names of Jamsie and Callum to their list. To think we almost lost Forrest who possibly might have lost himself if he had left the club. We have seen it happen to others. Now, more than ever, he must realise he can compete at a high level for both Celtic and Scotland…I’m really pleased for him. I wouldn’t be pointing any negative fingers tonight, we are improving as a unit and we will, under Brendan’s tutelage, continue to improve. What can you say of Broonie? He is a leader out there on the park…brave as a lion, leading by example, influencing the others, a great model for our future captain KT…If we do make it to Europa League, then it is going to be very interesting watching further development of these bhoys. Finally, fans were great tonight, superb, credit to the team and club (and I was watching to see if any CQNers tried to sneak out early)…Finally-finally-finally…why can’t we have refs in Scotland like our man tonight? Sure they can make human mistakes but he was fully in control of the game and the players respected that…Thanks Bhoys for tonight…

    Armstrong missed sitter..Boyatta defensive lapse.

Such are the marginsvbetween honourable defeat and resounding victory at this level…

  11. Jose’s teams have never been described as…..

    Gallant losers.

Probaly why Jose has 4 European trophies in his locker.

We had our share of, gallantly losing in the early 90’s….imo.

    Anyway…..

    Laters.

  12. The psychology of the team tonight was right.

This is a huge improvement on previous games against Euro giants and if we continue in this vein we will be a competitive force at the top table.

One thing i would like to see us do is stop the centre backs hesitating on the ball when we bring it out at the back.

They often move into the space and hesitate allowing opponents to close them down.

Both Boyata and Bitton did it tonight and often the only outlet on doing so was a passback to Craig.

Was a very good game to watch and Celtic did us proud.

We competed brilliantly tonight playing the way BR wants us to play. Brave, quick, intelligent, controlled football. Only downside was our defending costing us a draw or win.

As always , succinct and to the point :)

    Madmitch

James needs to learn how not to stand on the ball KT needs to be better with his left foot and Callum needs a brain? Really?

I really don’t get, how after a performance like that, you can somehow find daft negatives like that. Good God, that was the proverbial David V Goliath out there. A bit of perspective eh?

KevJ…Jose’s teams may never have been described as gallant losers but they have been described as cheats…Seville?

  17. Great effort.Get 2 proper CHs playing at the same time, and a bit of luck with the Europa draw, and we could do some damage.Wish we did not have to go to Paris.

Saw a discussion earlier on about going to watch the bhoys at Parkhead or Celtic Park !

Only one winner Celtic Park because it sticks in the monkeys throats to say Celtic when there is a game on.

Parkhead is a district in Glasgow.

  19. Tremendous performance tonight, and a wonderful atmosphere.

I thought our best players were Broon, CalMac, Forrest and KIeran – who was simply magnificent.

The goals we lost were so disappointing, especially the first. Boyatta definitely to blame but I wonder if BR might soon be on the hunt for a new keeper – one who can pass the ball out of defence.

Finally, take a bow Arjen Robben. What a player.

  20. WeeBobbyCollins – agree with all that especially the ref. He was great. Let the game flow and made decisive calls. Never wanted to be centre of attention.

How did he get past Dallas Snr?

  21. Not that anyone cares , but some of the shite on here in the last hour has confirmed that it is better for me if I flounce for a few weeks.

It beggars belief, or confirms my thought that strong drink sustains a lot of the posters on here on here. Take care everyone and enjoy the good times. HH

  22. We competed , thats what we wanted, never got the breaks at times….proud of the team, ref was outstanding, Forrest MOTM

Tonight we competed, thanks for the effort Bhoys, support was immense, what a noise when Callum scored- boom

  23. Disappointed that the team did`nt get the result the performance deserved. Very proud of the team and Brendan. Well done.

Thanks T. Good to see, thankfully, like the majority of posters, you are really positive about tonights performance. I don’t get the need to point out negatives the way some posters do. Maybe us auld guys that have come through some barren times, simply appreciate what we have with this manager.

Are you coming down for the 11/11 hootenany?
